  1. Just be aware that the train station in Monterosso is in the "new" side, about a 10 minute walk from the "old" side along the waterfront street. The ferry dock is in the "old" side, but just a few steps from the "new" side.
  2. Just a reminder. The train platform is called "binario" in Italian. The station departure screens or displays will show them as "BIN."
  3. OfficeofthePresident@seabourn.com All lower caps works too.
  4. Ask George's Taxi for a tour to Sounion with airport drop off. It can also stop at a lake near the beach or at Marathon as part of the tour. You could also have a stop for lunch.
  5. Considering that Seabourn pays wholesale, a generous pour couldn't cost Seabourn more than a dollar or so. Compare that to the per diem price we pay for the cruise.
  6. I wonder if other boards are talking about this too.
  7. Ooops. I did mean Catania or Messina. 😳
  8. For the past 15-18 years they have always had Remy, Courvoisier and Hennesy VSOP on every cruise we have taken. Also always an armagnac VSOP and a good calvados. I have always mentioned the quality of the included liquor to many others I have recommended to Seabourn, but no more. We have two cruises coming up and we'll see what happens.
  9. Of course not. A mild attempt at irony.
  10. Seabourn claims to be ultra luxury and to have "complimentary premium spirits and fine wines available on board at all times ." XO is "premium" and "ultra" luxury so this is what should be included. 🙃 VSOP is "top shelf" and "average" luxury so there is no excuse not to include it. VS is what they serve at a Holiday Inn bar. Is "bottom shelf" the new Seabourn (not) luxury standard? Like Hank, I am hoping that it is just a blip in judgment that will soon be rectified.
  11. Nice form letter. Just got mine. No mention of the VSOP issue. I hope someone is listening and it is not just a polite brush off.
  12. The writer of the link does have first hand knowledge of all those beaches and facilities. You are unlikely to find anyone here who has visited all those beaches on a cruise stop or a short vacation.

  16. If your info says tender, it is probably Giardini Naxos, the closest port to Taormina. Other ports would be Catania or Taormina, but they are docking ports, not tender. See if any of those names are mentioned in your itinerary.
  17. @luv2ndhalf Sherry tasting in Jerez de la Frontera snd/or Sanlucar de Barrameda near Cadiz. Manzanilla sherry comes from Sanlucar. The other types from Jerez. Sherry is the anglicized pronunciation of Jerez.
  18. @alserrod I'll give it a try, but I was really hoping to see the actual sala Paraninfo and the aula magna. My family has some connections to the building. Mil gracias.
  19. @alserrod Do you know if the Paraninfo is open for casual visits or do I need to reserve a time to visit? I found the website and the opening hours, but it isn't clear if we can just go in and look around or if we need to book a time for a visita guiada. Gracias. https://paraninfo.unizar.es/horarios-y-apertura-edificio
  20. Malaga and the Costa del Sol has been a vacation destination for Brits and other Europeans for ages. There are whole apartment blocks all along the shore used for vacation rentals, most in the budget category and most in the 1-2 week rentals. It is also a favorite of many retirees from the colder climates who spend longer time in the area in the winter months. Those tourists certainly contribute to the economy - grocery stores, shops, transport. Day tourists have a narrower focus - tour buses, some souvenirs and some food. It is not as widespread or sustained in the economy as the contribution of the longer term tourists.

  22. You should be ok. Pick midweek. The mist cruise ships are usually in port on the weekends.
