  1. You do not need to test negative after the quarantine. Most people continue to test positive long after they have recovered from Covid. You can get a Certificate of Recovery after 7-10 days of your positive test. To get back into the USA you (US citizen or permanent resident) must: 1. Present a negative COVID test taken no more than 1 day before flight departure OR 2. Documentation of Recovery which consists of two parts: a. A positive (you had COVID) viral COVID test showing where it was taken, done within the last 90 days, and identifying you (name and DOB matching your passport), AND b. A signed letter from a health care provider or public health official stating that you are cleared for travel. The letter must be on an official letterhead showing the name, address and phone number of the issuer. You do not need to show a negative test if you have Documentation of Recovery. There is more in the following thread:
  2. The mandate for KN95/FFP2 masks extends through June 15. It is not known whether it will be extended. Private venues like the Vatican can always extend this requirements for their visitors.
  3. The crowds arrive in Oia early. Everyone off the ships make a mad dash to get there. Oia and the views are not going anywhere. It makes more sense to do other sightseeing first and then go to Oia. The pier is tiny. You can't miss the ferries. Plus the vendors will be looking for you to ride the ferry.
  4. And for sheer exhuberance there are the mossaics of St Peter's basilica. Every square inch of the enormous interior is covered in mossaics. But nothing compares to the historical and artistic interest of Ravenna.
  5. This has been the law in Greece since they reopened the ports. You do need the test within 24 hours of boarding.
  6. There are sandy beaches with restaurants and concessions all along the shore. Do consider going the see the amazing 5th century mosaics in the Basilica and Mausoleo first.
  7. There is no need to book ahead. Just search for directions and info to the many public beaches on this board. There are restaurants and concessions where you can rent loungers and umbrellas in all of them. And they all have nicer beaches than the hotel.
  8. Good plan. There is a mostly underground parking deck in St Paul on your right as you get to the village. There is also plenty of parking in Eze either in the road by the entrance to the village or just a few feet away before the Fragonard perfume factory. In Cap Ferrat there is parking by the port. All are clearly marked in google maps.
  9. Apparently so and it should be, but bring your card just in case. You never know what a customs agent wants to see. But I think it would be just fine for other uses like indoor venues that may require it.
  10. Your hotel can set it up or you can book a reliable transfer service such as romecabs.com.
  11. We booked the Salumeria con Cucina Roscioli and got a table in the wine cellar. Did you manage to stay at Spaletti-Trivelli? They were booked one of our nights and we are at the Albergo. No complaints there. Two weeks to go!
  12. Our last flight in Lufthansa was years ago. In the middle of the flight they had an exercise session for the passengers. As in "everybody tap your right foot twice, now your left foot...."and so on. It was hilarious. Eveyone got into it happpily since we were packed like sardines in coach. 😱
  13. Not Hank, but I have flown with Iberia and it is a good mainstream airline. It is in the same alliance as American and British Air. They serve outstanding wines in business class.
  14. There is a fortress, art deco buildings in the town, an amusement park, some caves. I don't know about getting into Morocco when half of Africa is trying to get into Melilla to get into the EU. Melilla is surrounded by a frontier wall.
  15. frantic36, you are doing me in. I just reserved Casa Bleve for lunch the same day we are going to Roscioli for dinner. I may sink the ship!
  16. My understanding is that KN95 is acceptable.
  17. I would do a home test on each of the last 4 or 5 days of your trip. If one turns out to be positive, go immediately to a pharmacy to get an official test to start the clock running. If all are negative, you can be pretty confident that your official test to get back to the US will also be negative.
  18. Here is a good tour company. Go to their website to see the prices. They are comparable to other companies. George's Taxi taxigreece.com
  19. Use your debit/ATM card for withdrawals from your home accounts. Not cash advances. Let your bank know you will be traveling and to which countries. Use bank ATMs, not exchange company ATMs to avoid high fees. The ATM lets you choose the language for your transaction.
  20. The test site sends the test to a lab. It only takes half-hour to fill out the forms and get tested. The lab usually posts results in a few hours. You don't have to wait at the test site for results.
  21. Thanks eurocruiser. To summarize the rules in Airline Checklist: How to Confirm Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination and Negative Qualifying Test Results or Documentation of Recovery from COVID-19 (Print-only) (cdc.gov), to get back into the USA you (US citizen or permanent resident) must: 1. The signed letter can be from a provider in the country you are in or a tele health provider back home According to the US Embassy's website, you need to isolate between 7 and 21 days at your own expense. The length really depends on when the health provider clears you. https://it.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/
  22. Here is a helpful article on what to do should you test positive: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/04/travel/covid-test-positive-traveling-overseas.html?campaign_id=24&emc=edit_tl_20220507&instance_id=60717&nl=travel-dispatch&regi_id=133995327&segment_id=91608&te=1&user_id=3d85b498ef43897380c2a3929ebfeb1e
