  1. For the foodies here is what we enjoyed at our Chef’s Asian dinner last night. Very good and great wine pairings.
  2. It’s 5 PM here and will be looking at TGIF tomorrow and our arrival to the most expensive city in the world. We’ll have an overnight and two full days of excursions. The seas were glassy today. This will be our last full segment before we start our 34 day detour around Africa after Dubai. We’ll have approximately 630 guest on this next leg then the ship will be all ours. Figure around 120 but that will drop even more when many of us go on a mini safari starting in Port Stanley. We’ll fly out of Capetown to Wavis Bay to rejoin ship. It’s off to cocktails and tonight we dine with our Canadian friend in Aqualina the Italian specialty restaurant. Thanks for the reports and post. Bruce
  3. Last night’s Chef’s Asian Table on Onward.
  4. Good evening. Ready here for Happy Hour then dinner for ten of us at the Chef’s Table Asian Dinner. Today we visited Koh Samui and island off the Thailand coast that is famous for its Big Buddha and shrines and beautiful beaches . It was a short tender stay 8-2 and back to sea. Tomorrow is a sea day then we overnight In Singapore. Day 2 in Singapore we start a new segment. See if you can find the cat sleeping in one of the small tabernacle temple. Thanks for the reports and post. Bruce
  5. Today we visited Koh Samui a popular island beach resort off the coast of Thailand. Known for its beautiful beaches and Big Buddha. A short tender port of call as we arrived at 8:00 and left at two.Tomorrow is a day at sea then we will overnight in Singapore and start our next segment. Last night’s dinner was a huge success and tonight it’s back to more fine dining at the Chef’s Asian Table dinner.
  6. Thanks for the feedback, No matter which line it would be very hard to leave my friends on the Daily. Just getting up so we can explore, Ko Siam, Thailand. Hope you have had a nice day. Bruce
  7. Iv’e been questioning this; is it OK that I still keep posting from our different cruise line experience to a Hal audience? The best decision we made is not let loyalty decide your cruise line decisions but what works to recharge. The experience! Our experience with Hal has been fantastic and we love the Hal Community. Love the Daily. Bruce
  8. What a beautiful evening on the Coral Sea. Our under the stars Tuk Tuk Dinner has been spectacular. Doesn’t get much better with the lighted lanterns swaying in the beautiful cooling breeze.
  9. What a beautiful setting and the food has been fantastic. Nice breeze, light lanterns swaying in the wind. Doesn’t get much better then this.
  10. Last night on the Onward we were bussed to Bangkok’s huge outdoor Cultural Museum Ancient City greeted with Thai Canapés and drinks. Watched five different cultural dance acts including Thai Boxing. Each of our chairs were decorated. We then enjoyed fireworks and couples/singles we’re offered an alighted wish basket made our wish and put the arrangement afloat. There was a steady breeze that made for comfortable evening weather wise. It was an AzAmazing Evening and it felt like most of the guest participated. We left Bangkok this morning enjoying a day on the Coral sea. Tonight we all have the choice of dining under the stars. It’s Tuk Tuk Dinner Night. Will they have a real Tuk Tuk?
  11. Up early for some reason but will have some coffee and enjoy our 8:00 AM sail way from Bangkok. Have to share about our flight from Siam Reap Cambodia to Bangkok. Siam Reap has this beautiful brand new 1 billion dollar+ airport. We left the city of Siam Reap at 6:30 AM for the 50 minute ride to the new airport. We arrive and there is no traffic, no people and we walk into check in counter nada except see 1 person behind a counter about thirty counters down. Yup that’s Bangkok Air. We go up check in takes 3 minutes. Head for security and we are only folks being screened. Remove belt, watch, take out I Pads and that is done in three minutes. Walk into main area that has this beautiful Golden centerpiece. Walk through the entire facility to gate no people get to gate and only 1 young lady is waiting. The tarmac is empty except an occasional sweeper goes by. Around boarding we finally have a few people gathering. Boarding time we come out get on a bus and arrive at our plane which was a small probably 50 pax prop job. Can’t remember when we last flew in a prop plane. We take off on time. Flight attendants bring all of us a cold chicken noodle salad like dish with a mango cake desert, bottle of water and coffee ot tea. Left Cambodia 9;30 and we’re back on ship In Bangkok at 11:45 AM in time for lunch. We will most likely never have such an easy peasy flight experience like that again. We believe the new airport was built for the large influx of Chinese that were visiting Angkor War pre Covid. Since Covid the Chinese have not returned to pre Covid levels.
  12. Just returned from our Azamazing Evening. Each guest chair decorated, Thai canapés and drinks. Dancers and five acts with Thai Boxing followed by fireworks and then we were given a lighted float to each couple or single to make a wish and float the lit candle down the waterway. Welcomed back to ship with champagne and the ships orchestra playing on the dock. Special cruise line. Midnight and time to retire. Thanks for reports and post. Bruce
  13. Were home onboard the Azamara Onward. Tonight they are busing us to Bangkoks outdoor cultural and museum center for an evening of culture, food and hopefully iced wash cloths to cool us down. The outside portion will be hot for this Azamazing Evening. Bangkok Harbor on a hot poor air quality day
  14. Up and headed to airport to fly to Bangkok and rejoin ship. Happy Easter!
  15. Headed to bed it’s 8:00 PM Sunday here, as we will be up early to fly to Bangkok and return to our ship Azamara Onward. On this Easter Day here we felt so Blessed at sunrise and throughout the day to be able to do this. A few of our sweltering day sights. . Goodnight and Happy Easter everyone. Bruce
  16. An amazing sunrise and another sweltering day at Angkor Wat. 36C and humid. Guides saved us with filtered ice cold bottled water and mentholated iced wash cloths. Got up at 4:30 AM to experience sunrise. Back to Onward tomorrow in Bangkok so we can attend a Azamazing Bangkok evening. Pics are from our day two here. Bruce
  17. Out for drinks and dinner. So here some pics of our day in Angkor Wat. Bruce
  18. Wow! Angkor Wat did not disappoint but it took a toll on all of us. Walked over 4 miles of rock and uneven terrain and lot’s of steps with no rails. So glad we brought one walking stick each. Made a big difference. By the way the temperature was 36 C and humid. Those iced cold mentholated wash cloths given by our guide and iced cold water saved the day. We all were soaked. Great tour guide and the Cambodians are so polite, caring and friendly. Currently relaxing poolside and a refreshing dip it was. Would post some pics but the I Phone is charging and pics have not transferred to I Pad. We have a 5:30 AM pickup to witness sunrise over the temple. Fly back to Bangkok Monday morning. Thanks for all your post. You all have a wonderful and joyous Easter Sunday weekend. Bruce
  19. Made it to Cambodia with no problems. Beautiful hotel and a brand new airport here. Arrived at 5:30 and the sun was already setting. It’s rather warm at 37C. Just had dinner off to bed. B
  20. We planned the trip on our own. Though some took an Azamara excursion to Angkor Wat. Trip from Ho Chi Minh to here went without a hitch.
  21. As of last night probably now around 120. Of the 135 several are getting off in Dubai and doing their own travel plans then rejoining in Venice. All lounges will not be open at same time but will be rotated and that will also be the case with specialty restaurants. Haven’t heard yet how many guest are going on the safaris. Guest count could really be lower that week. Taking a three day side trip to Angkor Wat. Will rejoin Onward in Bangkok.
  22. Thanks for the confirm. The Azamara team does such a great job of making us happy cruisers. Going to be more special then it already is.
