  1. Ok, so it is like NCL and will give you ice cold water at any bar. Thank you.
  2. For anyone who has cruised on the Summit lately, what has the entertainment been in the main theatre? Also, are there any other bars with music at night! The website does not seem to go into detail.
  3. Looking at a ship tour on Youtube, it appears that two person tables on the Summit are lined up about 4 inches from the next 2 person table. So it would offer no privacy and not be truly an individual table. Is this correct or was I just seeing an isolated example?
  4. If we don't get a drink package do we need to pay for water, either bottled or tap water from the bar?,
  5. The contract apparently means nothing. The cast of Kinky Boots was fired in the middle of their contract. Also I have read Syd Norman's was turned into a karaoke bar! And we are supposed to commit thousands of dollars 4 months in advance without knowing what we are buying? This is not the same as a port cancellation due to weather. This is acting in bad faith and is unethical.
  6. Technically this question may belong in the ports board, but I am sure answers will be more readily available here as many people cruise NCL out of NY. If I am staying close to the Pier, can we simply walk across 12 th Ave, from west 48th st. to enter.? The reason I ask is because on Google street view it shows the gates closed with a long long way around requiring a drive.. Can I presume the pic was taken on a non-cruise day/time? I do remember walking straight in a number of years ago, TIA.
  7. "There will always be two shows on the ships. Choir has been the primary since the Encore’s launch with a 2-story set" If that is the case, what is now the other production on the Encore at present? What about the Escape?
  8. Does anybody know if the Encore will restore it's primary musical production in the next couple of months? Right now it appears that Choir of Man which used to be the secondary production, is now the only major theatre attraction. Similar situation on the Escape.
  9. What about the major productions in the theater? It starting to look like NC L is removing the broadway style musicals from their ships.
  10. On a related issue, I have looked at the entertainment page for both the Escape and the Encore and see no major musicals listed. Choir of Man seems to be the headliner. On the Escape the other show is Argentian folk dancing. With no offense to the land of Messi, that is a showstopper for me.(pardon the pun). Is this just an omission or is it the beginning of a cost-cutting pattern? (The musicals are mentioned on other NCL pages)
  11. As a resident of Halifax I would suggest a couple of hours at least walking the Harbourwalk which starts right outside the dock and goes for about 3 km. along the waterfront with plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, ships and also the Maritime Museum and Immigration Museum, the latter being next to your docking pier. It is known as Canada's Ellis Island. The former has popular exhibits on the Titanic and Halifax Explosion of 1917, the world's most deadly explosion before Hiroshima, killing close to 9/11 numbers. There used to be boats that would take you to Peggy's Cove from about halfway down the Harbourwalk. I do not know the cost or if they still run but they would be an appropriate way to travel there if they do. Google "Halifax Harbourwalk" and you can find more info.
  12. Ok, thank you. I can take a step back from the balcony rail now. Despite my vast experience all these years I guess I got confused over mixed shots vs. mixed drinks. Must have been a panic attack! 🍺
  13. I want to clarify this .Are you saying I can't get a rum and coke or a mimosa or a pina colada? If so I am an ex-NCL cruiser.
  14. Anybody visit Corner Brook on a NE/Canada cruise? Shopping for souvenirs and gifts does not look plentiful. Is there an area developed around the cruise terminal? Or within short walking or taxi distance?
  15. Do you have to stand in a line for all that time? I remember on the Epic you had to go an hour early but you could sit down when you got there.
  16. Just to let you know what prompted my question. I am booked on the Joy next September the very week when Fiona hit this year. Will be flying to NYC from Halifax for cruuse that ends in Quebec City. So my imagination led me to thinking of the cruise reversing and going south to avoid a hurricane hittimg the northeast, debarking instesd down south, 4000 pax in Miami instead of Quebec. Hopefully, a long shot but a point to ponder. Now, Bird and Horse, I appreciate both of your opinions, so stop arguing or I will alert PETA. 😁
  17. Does Q on the Joy have a separate bar area where you can listen to the music without eating?
  18. So a hurricane hits or some other unforeseen occurrence. You already have your flight booked from the original port. Does NCLprovide any compensation or is that wishful thinking?
  19. Does anyone have dailies from the Joy which are fairly recent they can share? i.e. since the restart.
  20. Thanks. After reading the small print I think I am with complawyer. I have had too many adventures when I was in control let alone throwing the dice to a 3rd party.
  21. I recently noticed that my home airport (Halifax) has been added to the airfare perk list on NCL with most Canadian airports so I am wondering if it is worthwhile. My questions for anyone who has used it: Do they always book you the day before the cruise, the day of the cruise or is there some choice involved? Do they give you a direct flight if available or do they like to book the less expensive stopover flights? eg. Going thru Toronto can be $200 less than direct if I was going to NYC. How late can you change your mind? If you tick off airfare can you change it after you have passed the payment deadline but before they have booked you and expect to get your money back or is that wishful thinking?

  23. Just refreshing the post so anyone from the Joy Fiona cruise might see it now that they are home....hopefully!
  24. I was booked on the Sept, 23 cruise of Joy from NY to Canada but cancelled it quite a while ago. As this cruise was intimately involved with the Fiona visit to the Maritimes I am curious to know what the effect was on the cruise vis-a-vis port cancellations, diversions and delays. I think today was disemebarkation day in NY. Can anybody who just disembarked provide a quick review of how it went? TIA.
