  1. $20 for a drink pack is very cheap. When was the last time you sailed on NCL? I never sailed on that line but would consider it if the drink pack is only $20. It is under the Free at Sea promotion which they have had for years now. You don't pay for the package, you pay only for the gratuities. You also get 150 minutes of wi-fi for free and discounts on shore excursions. Not free at sea but a lot better than I have seen on any other line. Cowboys fan, you need to google Free at Sea not drink package. I have used it 4 times and am booked with it again in September.
  2. They are listed onthe app for 2 different bars so I presume yhey sell them. What kind of "clientele" would buy a bucket to share among a group or to keep in the cabin fridge? Maybe the kind who don't want to pay double figures every time they sip on a beer? 🤣
  3. Well. I wouldn't buy a bucket if I had a package. Normally I do have a package because I am on NCL where it only costs $20 a day. Trying something different this time and the cost is prohibitive compared to what I am used to. Trying to find a way to stickhandle around it within my budget!
  4. I was just browsing the bar menus for the Summit and saw 2 bars selling buckets of 6 beers. My question is can the bucket be brought back to thr cabin to be consumed at my leisure or does the bartender have to open all bottles at once as if a group is going to drink them in the bar. I have seen this on other cruises. Another question: All those beers I see listed for 7 or 8 dollars....are they bottles or drafts?
  5. Just received documentation and luggage tag for upcoming trip. Included were instructions to print the express pass which is in my app or I would have to jump through hoops at the pier. Does this mean I have to repeat process on the website on my desktop? There is no way I can print from the app.
  6. We are cruising on the Summit from Bayonne. I am trying to find out what amenities, if any, exist at the Cape Liberty port. Are there any food or drink options at all? Shops for last minute supplies? TIA.
  7. Looking at online videos of the Summit I can see that the MDR is over 2 levels on the 4th and 5th decks. Is there a reception area on both levels? The reason I ask is that there appears to be private tables for 2 only on the interior of the upper level. The ones on the 4th deck appear to be 6 inches from other 2-tops next to windows. . So I am wondering what is the best way to snag the inside private tables on deck 5. At the moment I am thinking of going to the MDR after embarking and enquiring. However it would be good to have a clue in advance. Another thing is we are used to eating when the MDR opens on other ships. It is usually not that crowded but since Summit only has one non-buffet comp dining room, can I presume that it will always be crowded? Oh, we have Anytime Dining and have been able to make a couple of early reservations.
  8. So the rest of we peons have no choice but to go to the overcrowded buffet? Nice! I am already regretting trying Celebrity. I have gone on 5 other cruise lines and always had an option to avoid the buffet. Even worse is having the dining room and not allowing us in. What about the hot dog place at the pool? Is that open maybe?
  9. OP here.....Not a question of affordability, but rather justification. If I have 6 or 7 drinks a day I could not justify the Celebrity package cost plus tip whereas for a little over $20 with the NCL promo it's a no brainer. Sometimes it's about the ship and entertainment and drinks, sometimes it's about the itinerary and other factors like direct flights. And as always it depends on how much you plan on imbibing. 🍺
  10. Sailing on Summit in May. We usually have the Free at Sea booze package on NCL but with the high cost of the full meal deal on Celebrity are opting out this time. So where can we find the best deals (besides the Casino at 9 in the morning 😀) .Does the champagne flow freely at the art auctions? What about buckets of beer at a reduced price? Any bars charge less than others? TIA
  11. Bunzini. If you remember when you return, could you post about the DASH bus and anything else useful about your Charleston visit? We are there on the Summit later in May.
  12. One thing we did in Bermuda was take the ferry to Hamilton and then join a free walking tour offered by the Town Crier at City Hall at 10 a.m.it was about 2 hours and excellent, especially for the price! 🤣 You would have ro Google and see if it is still operating. We went pre-pandemic.
  13. Do you need to eat in the Q to watch the entertainment or can you just get a drink?
  14. Can I still prepay gratuities after final payment? I can't see anyplace where I can do so online. Can I presume that OBC can be used against gratuities?
  15. Somebody mentioned on another thread that a set number of tables are kept aside for anytime dining so they may be sold out for reservations but available for walk-ins. I hope so because I could only reserve 2 early times.
  16. Can I do this returning from a port of call? All our luggage lugging will make it unreasonable on embarkation.. Is there a limit? Bottle or cans?
  17. I have made final payment. Can I still prepay gratuities? I can't see a place to do this.
  18. Actually Celebrity called it Anytime Dining when .I booked my cruise. "Anytime dining" was already checked off as my choice presumably because the fixed dining was already full. Rather confusing for a first-timer to all of a sudden see another "formal" name. 😆
  19. What is the difference between select and anytime dining?
  20. Outside of the MDR and buffet on Summit, it appears that the pool grille is the only other complementary option for a full meal but there is not a lot of info on the Celebrity website that I can find. What do they serve? Seems to be mainly fast food, burgers and fries etc. Is that right? What are their normal hours? Is it perhaps a late night option or is there a late night option with the buffet?
  21. Aldea, my research tells me that you can get a free DASH trolley from near the cruise terminal to the Visitors Centre.looks like maybe 20 minutes. DASH is run by Charleston Transit.. Google CARTA DASH to see maps and schedules.
  22. Written, I have the opportunity to change it but there is only one direct flight daily and that is what I paid for. Connecting in Toronto ia always a nightmare, moreso since the pandemic started. I will be sticking with the same flight given the track record for Bayonne that Miz mentioned above. I will go with the odds.
  23. OP here. We are flying Air Canada and they would never just put you on another flight if you are late arriving at the airport through no fault of the airline. If you don't pay a lot more for a changeable flight, you are on your own. There are plenty of flights but not only will you pay again but you will have to get a connecting flight, usually through Pearson airport in Toronto, recently voted world's worst in connecting, losing luggage etc. I will be playing the odds and keep our direct 12;35 flight. I just hope that there will not be a long delay between docking and disembarkation.
  24. Returning to Cape Liberty May 25 8 a.m. My flight is now at 12:35. When can we debark, presuming Summit arrives on time? Is there a carry your luggage option? Is it easy to get an Uber from there? Does Celebrity have a shuttle bus to the airport? Anyone with experience at this cruiseport/airport? A missed flight would cost us well over $1000. TIA.
  25. Thanks, Choozin! Actually there are a few bus tours shown online plus Harbour tours and a combination of the 2. Adventure Sightseeing operating out of the market. I hesitate to book anything in advance because of risk of paying a non-refundable fee. I like the idea of the free Dash bus as we have 2 days in town. Do you know the nearest stop to the cruise terminal? I could not spot it on Street View.
