  1. Happened to several ships here last season, mostly as they were caught off guard with the new requirements. It could happen to any of the ships on your shortlist, and others, but I think they are on top of it now. There is much more chance of missing the fjords due to rough weather than there is to miss because of cling-ons on the starboard bow.
  2. Yes, I commented as such. These were on 3 nighters that were among the first following the launch of premier packages. More obvious on Coral, with more limited numbers that could be catered. There were passengers told to take their voucher to the dining room to order surf & turf. I get why they changed this. Way back when, you couldn't pre-book with vouchers. They thought they could entice people to use the app by having their vouchers on it. Alas, a large number of their passengers don't have smartphones, or even any type of mobile. So yes, they screwed-up by not capping the number of premier fares per voyage. But even now you can pre-book with a credit card, so I hope they are holding enough reservations to satisfy the number of vouchers aboard. For 5 nights you should be OK. Just take care of it as soon as you can after boarding.
  3. It is working for me, for a cruise next month, another next year, and another in 2025. The pre-booking of specialty restaurants isn't a glitch, but a decision from Princess to restrict it - so that those without the app have a chance of getting their bookings too. I can help with a how to, but I can't help to fix something that is broken - that is Princess' problem - 1300 551 853.
  4. Thanks. I have been hearing a fair bit of hit & miss about the MDR dinners, so have resolved that we are not going to dine in the usual Princess (eat early, eat often) mode. It helps that it is a cruise to nowhere. Maybe the waiters spend too much time dancing on the tables. A decent comedian would be a bonus. Our plans include: 555 on the first night. It seems like we might need to prebook it again for the last night. Brunch on the two sea days Late lunches - Masala Tiger, Guys and the like Hope the dining room is OK on the middle night, so we can cancel the 2nd 555 sitting and get some drinking money back. Midnight pizza + night cap.
  5. Which ongoing problem? I have no ongoing problems with medallion. Plenty here that can offer advice on how to use the medallion, but for any bugs you can ring Princess and have a member of their medallion team assist you over the phone.
  6. Yes, we will be there. Saw them by accident a few years ago, I think on P&O. They had retired the act, but Rusty continued with "Rusty and the Other Guy. Turns out that the Other Guy was sick, so we had Scared Weird Little Guys performing as Rusty & the Other Guy. Seen bits of them way back on Footy Show & Hey Hey. We also have another decent comedian, Jeff Green on night 1, so we might actually make an effort there too. Who would have thought - 2 comedy acts worth seeing on the same cruise. They bookend the production show Fiera.
  7. Your hubby will pass, as long as they don't have those fashionable holes in them. I think the generic smart casual standard is collared shirt and trousers with shoes (no thongs). Plenty wear tidy jeans, and I go half-way with chinos. And at last Princess has given us a half decent comedy act on the last night - Scared Weird Little Guys.
  8. The Catch disappeared from Majestic's dining for a bit. Bulletproof it aint. Good luck. We are also less than 4 weeks from testing the waters. I was able to get vouchers booked in before they started to restrict it a few months ago, but not to say they won't stick to the terms of the package and reallocate times/dates/restaurants.
  9. Lucky timing, so glad you got on. Waitlists aren't automatic, and require a Princess rep to call. It depends on what time it is, and how busy they are. There could have already been passengers on the waitlist that won't be getting a call tomorrow morning. I think the same cruise we did last year on Coral had one, but it wasn't over the top. Overall, most were dressed pretty smart on all nights. It will be an interesting crowd. Plenty on for a weekend getaway to chill and/or party, while there are plenty staying on after the Transpacific, and then doing the Fiji one that follows. The latter will have their nice formal clothes.
  10. She's coming back - well, sort of. An unusual combo of Vancouver, Victoria, and now Seattle before heading towards Hawaii
  11. Oops. Yes, you can get there from that level, but with a small number of steps up to the pool.
  12. Well done. See you there. A rather quiet roll call, if you are interested:
  13. A photo (not mine) from Golden's pool deck, and is also typical on sister ships. Stairs down to Aloha, or up to Lido
  14. Not too far. A 20 odd minute walk around the harbour. A pic of Solstice in 2018, taken from Aloha Tower.
  15. The main attraction to a 651 is that is free. The 601 ETA visa waiver has an admin fee, and I wonder how many are attracted to saving $AU20.
  16. At least on Golden/Adventure, I am pretty sure the pool deck is on a split level between Aloha and Lido decks. You walk up a short flight of stairs from the aft Aloha corridors, or walk down a short flight from Horizon Terrace. The midship pools are accessible.
  17. You seem sure Maureen, Then, their wording must be tangled, as it has the 1st passenger paying full price. By their own maths: 1st guest $173.68 (buy one) 2nd Guest $86.84 (get one 50% off) Total for two = $260.52 or $130.26 each
  18. Even though it may appear that several rooms are available, some passengers don't have specific rooms allocated yet. So if you see 20 cabins available, but there are 18 bookings waiting on a cabin assignment, you get to choose from all 20 but there would only be two left for sale. Once those two are gone, sold-out. We booked this one over a year ago, and have been watching it closely. It has been close to sold-out for several weeks, and briefly had sold-out status a couple of times over a month ago as well. @Jules Syd If you are reading, you are in luck for 4th November. A cabin has just popped up, so you can get a balcony, mini suite, reserve coll mini-suite. Might not be there long.
  19. If you are only getting one package, it reads that you wont get the 50% off. So if you are solo, travelling with someone under age etc, you will be paying $173.68
  20. Oh well, that changes everything. Lets see what happens to the untested/unvaxxed passengers on Brilliance of the Seas on 25th October.
  21. Am I right in reading the wording - if you are just pre-buying one package, it will cost the whole $173.68? The 2nd passenger is discounted by 50% to give you the $130pp price. Ouch!!
  22. Pacific Adventure - no. Did sail on her as Golden Princess, but the Byron area is a P&O thing. Yes, aft pool is access via the tiered decks, and I don't recall being able to access it from the same level. We have never tendered from any of the Grand class/subclass ships, so I can't help their either. With the bonus of sailing out under the bridge not happening for that cruise, putting a line through Pacific Adventure would be a worthwhile option.
