  1. QM2 did a short season down here some years ago, including a lap of Oz. Bound to come back to do that again at some stage, and that would be a great way to do a lap.
  2. We stayed a little bit further up the other side of the lagoon for our Cairns departure. I was able to walk across the road to watch Pacific Eden for a bit, before she disappeared behind the other buildings.
  3. It should be, but a comedian would be wasted unless they did matinees. I guess it depends on the itinerary and the ship. I don't think QM2 has a particularly old crowd.
  4. Makes sense. I agree about the T/A too. Much easier to just get an email with booking details on it.
  5. I know quite a few people that have cruised Disney in the past with their kids. Kids are all grown up, yet they have been waiting impatiently for weeks to book. Some booked yesterday, so it must have been less chaotic for past cruisers getting in early. The advice given is to close your eyes when you hit the confirm button. Not for us either, but maybe when we are in grandkid territory. I get it though. Some of the dearest cruises we have done have been Rock the Boat. Same Royal ship, same amenities, but the entertainment changes everything and well worth the double price tag for us - so I see why adult Disney fans are queuing-up for this.
  6. If I light up a cigar in there, I will definitely be keeping it secret.
  7. Ahh yes, there is always a comedian that likes to start by asking how many of the audience are on their first cruise, then rolls through those apocryphal anecdotes about the water in the toilets, the microwave not working, and the extension lead trailing behind the ship.
  8. @bazzaw To note as well. Getting images from most of the tracking sites requires you to take a screen capture, then crop your image out of the capture. With cruisemapper, it is just a matter of right click on the image and save as an image file.
  9. 29th December cruise is back. 8th and 22nd January are still missing. No, I don't think they have deleted anything, but are still working their way through whatever wiped out all of Luminosa's schedule from their system.
  10. At least you have some friends to help you. Winter, I would be concerned about fog. Summer, I would be concerned about about afternoon thunderstorms October, I think an early flight involving Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and even Gold Coast are a pretty safe bet. As you say, lots of plan B flights.
  11. Yeah, looks nice enough. We just found our self walking through each time. We are doing a sensible bar crawl on our next night aboard, so will try again then.
  12. I used to use Marine traffic (got slow to load - lots of data), then Marine Radar which started to throw up pop-up ads. Currently happy with Cruise Mapper app. The only flaw is if you are looking for movement of tugs/pilot boat etc, they don't show, as it only shows cruise ships.
  13. It is still Churchills, which was the cigar bar prior to coming out here. It is sealed off from the main part of the atrium, but still exists - empty of pretty much everything except some comfy chairs and a view onto the promenade deck.
  14. Our new ship has vanished, but we know about it. 😂
  15. AIS (Automatic identification system) is the equivalent to ships as ADB (Automatic Dependent Surveillance) is to planes. It works everywhere, but the free versions of the tracking sites only include the land based (terrestrial) data. AIS satellite is available in a limited way to cruisemapper - they only have cruise ships. Their phone app is really handy too.
  16. The ship has left after her renovations, and is halfway to the Suez Canal and doing 20kn. No issues with the drydock or ship then. The above advisories are old news regarding deleted schedules for Splendor & Spirit. Luminosa never had any October sailings, and was always kicking off in Brisbane from 6th November. I can't see them either, and the ship has totally disappeared from the AU and US Carnival sites. Still, a website glitch doesn't have to equal cancellations. Aw Snap, look again later.
