  1. I think you are going off half cocked and there is a miscommunication over a set of T&C that hasn't updated. We have cruised on an old ($85) premier package. The cap for drink prices was $30, as is the case for the current $95 package. We didn't get priority seating, fitness classes, Alfredo's, Ocean now delivery, fat desserts in our $85 fare. However, we did get $25 OBC and drinks up to $30. Your recent email says nothing about changes to drink price caps. Your wine menu shows Plus by-the-glass inclusions. They have one menu, not an old plus menu & a new plus menu. There is no weasel clause in action, apart from Ocean Now & Prix Fixe charges being imposed to something that was free at the time of booking, as they did a year ago. You are just allowing the inconsistencies of Princess documentation to play on your insecurities. I can assure you that you can drink shitty glasses of wine to the value of $22 on your old plus package.
  2. Should be no problems as above. I buy them at the supermarket - usually Woolies. I don't know how they compare with what you can get in Hawaii, both on price & taste. I thought you would be bringing over tins of dry roasted macadamias from Hawaii. We certainly brought a few home last time we were there.
  3. Awesome. You weren't asked. It is rare to be asked. If you are asked and you can't comply with border rules, then what? Whether rare or inconvenient, I will still follow the guidelines for the country I am visiting, and will always advise the same. I have no way of knowing if you are only travelling with just blood thinners or with oxycodone/codeine, pseudoephedrine, cannabis oil etc. For anyone travelling with vapes, it will also pay to read up on the new rules/restrictions at the link below. We have encountered it once in all our travels, at LAX for of all things, 4 weeks of vitamins in planner boxes. Just an inconvenience, but there are pills and then there are PILLS. Official advice for those arriving into Australia is: https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/can-you-bring-it-in/categories/medicines-and-substances
  4. The reference to the price drop not applying to T/A rates is referring to T/As booking their own personal fares with special industry pricing that is made available to them on selected undersold itineraries. They make no commission for booking their own mates rates fare. If you book through a T/A they will get commission. If you apply for a price drop, they still keep that commission. It is the cruise line that makes less profit from the price drop
  5. TA rates are industry promotional rates (mates rates). There is no TA commission on those fares.
  6. They have to make way for newer ships, whether big, small or monster. The costs of compliance increases with age, and passengers avoid ships that have become tired & unreliable. Put in in the same context as your car. Covid wiped-out the secondary market, so there was nowhere to cash in surplus old ships other that the scrapyards of Alang & Aliaga.
  7. Off the menu, you can have a fair bit to pick from. The part I am not fussed with is that on the package, I can get an Old Fashioned made with Makers Mark, but if I want it done with Southern Comfort, they have to price it based on the sum of the parts and it doesn't sit within the cap. Similarly, an Aperol Spritz in the package, a Limoncello Spritz isn't. Very rigid to their menus, and their bar stock is reconciled every cruise. When I am flipping a coin whether to get their package or not, it is more about being able to drink what I prefer.
  8. I guess it depends what you eat. It was more than adequate on Christmas Day - unless it has gone downhill since then.
  9. For casual eats moderately priced, City Extra & Rossini's are both under CQ railway station. There is a nice crepe place just across the road past the tram terminus. Menu - Pancakes On The Rocks is close, casual and has a broad choice.
  10. No kidding professor. 😁 Methanol cigarettes are also bad for your health 😉 Methane is emitting from the pile of horseship innuendo being posted on this topic
  11. I am starting to smell methane in here already, from a different source of emission.
  12. People like new ships with new features and at a good price or value for money. Cruise lines like big ships as they are more profitable to operate if they can fill them. Thus, the new ships are big ships and that is why the big ships are popular. I like small ships, I like big ships. As Chili says, you don't need to enjoy all of a big ship. Just pick a "neighbourhood" that suits. Itinerary first though, every time!
  13. $US120 is for 2 x people, right? CAN vs AU or CAN vs US, it is all relative. I don't think it is to her advantage to wait and pay $AU65pp after boarding. In 12 months time it is likely to be $AU75pp, and the daily grats are still extra and may also increase between now and boarding. We are on the same cruise, from the UK via New York to Sydney. We have purchased the plus package with our booking. We may cancel it before final payment date, but are currently using it as a hedge against internet & bar prices going up between now and the time we board. It doesn't cost us anything until we make our final payment in around a year from now. She should be able to add it to the fare via her agent or Princess PVP, and not need to pre-purchase with a credit card via the personaliser.
  14. A lot of benefit comes from engineering some efficiency into it. Some of the newer ships require your cruise card in the slot to run the lights & aircon. Not any card like the old days, but a cruise card with RFID. Fuel efficiency of the hull and propulsion is a big deal, and a decision to schedule max speed at 16 knots instead of 19 has massive savings on cost & fuel efficiency. Yes, the dinosaurs will be dead, and P&O will have other old ships by then.
  15. They wanted passenger to pay extra and upgrade to the current spec. The easy protest would have been to cancel the package altogether and cruise on a standard fare and drink your mini-bar and cabin wine allowance. On one cruise, we were very close to downgrading from an old premier to a current Plus, saving us $20pp per day, and keeping Alfredos and free delivery and potential extras. Alas, the cost of the specialty restaurants had increased, and we had those already included in premier. Chose to stay put, but it was really tempting.
  16. The bourbon options on the app last month on Coral: https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/topic/2991273-price-list-for-wine-and-cocktails-on-princess-aust-cruises/?do=findComment&comment=66992490
  17. Yes, coffee, water, soft drinks too. They also don't count in the 15 drink cap, Yes, your husband can get a bourbon & coke, as they are well within the price cap. If you check the app, you will have the option of around 6 or 7 different bourbons. I quite like the Woodford Reserve.
  18. Hi Cheryle, You can buy as many nasty by-the-glass "plus" wines as you like, well 15 per day. Yes, you miss on the included Alfredos, free app delivery, fat desserts, but plus drinks are plus drinks - your cap increased when the package price increased.
  19. P&O can cut emissions by travelling less per day. An extra day either way to cross to/from the islands, and/or more cruises to nowhere. The slower cruising means more nights or less ports, so we lose out on experiences, or pay more for the extra nights. Older "dirty" ships will eventually scrapped. In the meantime, the better emissions of the newer ships will help offset the older ships. I have commented on the excess smoke from Egde not being a good look in Sydney Harbour (similar to the Eclipse photo above). Apparently, it isn't a fair comparison, as their emissions are much cleaner than the sooty black smoke being emitted from older ships.
  20. Alas, economy of scale means that mega ships pollute far less than smaller ships when it is measured per passenger. There is more to be gained by using cleaner fuels, and just like on land, we will pay for the privilege.
  21. If 200 new buses are used to replace 200 old buses, then it is parity. If Brisbane City is increasing their fleet by 200 buses, they will need to find 200 more bus drivers to move them around between bus stops. If they were to have an hourly scheduled public bus run from the terminal to the city, how many hours do you think you will be waiting at the terminal in a queue for the next bus? It doesn't fit, and that is why they run private shuttles that match the number of buses to suit passenger demand via pre-purchased tickets.
  22. 100%. Also, August 2025 is a long way away. We currently pay $AU65 per day, but I would be very surprised if there isn't a price rise between now & then. If the package is added to the fare now it will be at today's price and she still has till final payment before it is paid for (it becomes embedded to the fare).
  23. Love this site! Oh, the things I learn. 🛳️.🐵
  24. There are dozens of endorsements here - For me, it is CMC Markets. For an online broker, all you need is to do is login to view & download a statement of your current shareholding to validate your shareholder OBC. These statements are live and will show the current date and number of shares held. I haven't looked into any voting or rights. As a foreign owner of a small bundle of shares, I don't know if I have any rights nor do I seek them.
