I was on that cruise and can add a little bit to this. A friend went racing down to the medical center that morning to volunteer. He had forgotten to bring his donor card with him, and was frantically trying to pull up the information on the Red Cross app, when he was told that they already had enough blood, but they were very grateful for his effort.
later in the cruise, they sent a nice dessert to his stateroom with a thank you note. A couple of days after that he was invited to the bridge for a tour. He was surprised because he wasn’t in a big suite and he didn’t have a lot of Captains Club status, but they told him it was because he had volunteered.
Later we were sitting in café Al Bacio when a woman struck up a conversation and it turned it had been her husband who was taken to hospital in New Orleans! It was good to know that he made it.
So folks, if you are a donor, tuck that card into your wallet and bring it with you!❤️🫀
