  1. Nothing has changed, you just need to book the room a couple of days before travel. You can even check out when you check in if you never plan on using your room (which might not be available until the afternoon). There have always been taxes and fees, it’s important to do the math to determine the cheapest way to see Atlantis (CS, resort for a day, ship’s excursion, Atlantis directly). We’ve done it through CS and through the cruise ship.
  2. Why not go to the hotel? Even if your room isn’t ready they’ll store your luggage and you can enjoy the pool and beach, or go explore.
  3. For the FAS beverage package, it’s for the first 2 in the cabin, gratuities around $21 a day. A cocktail or glass of wine cost about $13 after the gratuity, so if you drink more than one alcoholic beverage a day it’s worth it, especially if you drink soda and virgin drinks as well.
  4. I the future, always have the website in front of you when booking, so you can see the cabins. NCL is strict about the under 21’s, we couldn’t even put our 19 and 20 year olds in a connecting cabin, had to book one of the parents in each on paper.
  5. For any resort day pass we book independently, cheaper, faster, more time there, and most are a reasonable drive from the port.
  6. Junkanoo is walkable from the pier in Nassau, not nearly as nice as cabbage but there are restrooms, plus food and drink.
  7. It’s actually $21 a day, a glass of wine without the package is around $13. You can’t get a bottle with the FAS. Room service drinks aren’t included.
  8. You would need to either book 2 rooms or buy a day pass directly from Atlantis.
  9. I think the OP is referencing the Brooklyn cruise terminal.
  10. $5.26 server minimum wage in NJ with one of the highest COL.
  11. When my grandmother was in her 20’s, she changed her name slightly (Anna to Ann), documented by comparing previous censuses. My mom didn’t even know until I named my daughter after her, but told her I was calling her Anna. She told me it’s a horrible name, and her real one.
  12. I’ve had many 1 1/2 - 2 hour drives on LI, I wouldn’t describe them as leisurely though. I’ve lived in northeast NJ my entire life and have only used the 3 NYC airports. I know some friends down in south jersey have used a/c, and I do see teterboro commuter planes fly overhead every morning and evening.
  13. We are a family of 7 and have never been able to link reservations. Making dining reservations is easy, we just book for 8 from 1 reservation, but I have to log into each one to book excursions and shows.
  14. We have always booked family, 3 and 4 person cabins (Pullman folds into the wall or ceiling), and they’ve been near the kids club. They usually won’t book fewer than 4 into a cabin that sleeps 4.
  15. I’ve seen this brought up many times on CC, I have yet to see anyone be successful.
  16. One of my grandmother’s passed on my birthday (2nd relative who passed on my birthday in 3 consecutive years). I was on a ski trip so I was told when I got home. My other grandmother passed 15 minutes before my family arrived at the nursing home for a visit, she was there for a week while her live in had surgery, we had no idea she was close to passing (besides being 91). My daughters missed their grandmother’s passing by 15 minutes (at dance class, spent the day with her). My sons were there. My FIL just passed (96), my husband was there, his sister 15 minutes away, 4 hour drive. Having a passport for this reason wouldn’t even cross my mind.
  17. It was years ago but I haven’t seen anything that would make me believe policies have changed. We arrived before 9, they gave us vouchers to bring over to Atlantis to get wristbands, at 9 we were putting some towels and our belongings on lounge chairs and we strolled around until 10 when the slides opened. The park closes at 5/6.
  18. $165 for adults, $130 for children. I think there are a lot of cruisers not part of families. The biggest expense of not having a passport would be hotel costs, one would still need to pay for flights even with passports. Taxi costs to the consulate? Meals? I believe theses costs (pretty insignificant) would be covered by insurance.
  19. I’ve never been able to get an exception for connecting cabins, even with a 19 and 20 year old, but they’ll give extra keys.
  20. Homeowners that I paid for for years for my $500,000 home seems a lot smarter than spending $1000 for 3 days on the very slight chance something went wrong, and if it did it wouldn’t cost me $500,000. We drive cars into the ground, at a certain point we drop collision, and pay OOP for any damages.
  21. I consider myself a dunderhead for spending $1000+ on passports for my family for a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas on our first cruise. By the time we needed them again the kids needed new ones. Now that they are young adults they have passports that they actually use.
  22. You check in the morning of your reservation, you can a so check out at the same time if you wish. We didn’t, so my husband trekked back to check out.
  23. Oh absolutely just let the toddlers know your expectations and you should be fine.🤣
  24. Yes to view the statue, I used to think even getting off the ferry was a waste but went with another family the last time and I really appreciated the inside of the statue (there was a museum there at the time but I think it’s been moved outside the statue), and the views from the pedestal were amazing (the previous weekend we did the WTC observatory so the opposite views). I live less than 20 miles from liberty state park and WTC so I’ve been several times. EI was really cool before being renovated, they offer a hard hat tour of the areas not renovated that I think would be very interesting. Another good pairing is the tenement museum.
