  1. I have a 20 year old like that (plus another 20 year old, 22, 25 and 27, three are currently broke college students), but he does pay me back when I Venmo request it. He’s a commuter, we own the car he uses, when it comes to money, mom doesn’t play! ETA he did go away to college freshman year with a whopping $10 in his account, he worked, but voted most likely to order DoorDash every day (even at family parties). He now works 30 hours a week while going to school, and spends a bit more responsibility I think, I hope.
  2. I’ve always allowed my kids charging privileges, from around 9 and up to 20 (I also signed the beer/wine waiver for 18 - 20). Never had an issue, I give them a (not generous) limit, and anything else they pay me back. You can access charges at any time. Heck they’re all authorized users on my credit card, and never had a problem, they pay me back for charges that I didn’t agree to pay for (but they always ask).
  3. But only one adult will have the suite privileges (and the child).
  4. I haven’t done it but I’ve heard if you write it on the form they don’t bother you.
  5. Yes I believe you can go from metro park to Penn, and then Amtrak to Boston.
  6. Definitely safe! I think 5+ would be fine.
  7. Where in NJ are you? We take Amtrak from Newark Penn, takes you to Boston.
  8. $90 for me, $30 for H (pre-Covid his was $15).
  9. I believe this is true about the tip split. As for products, that’s the cash cow and generates the most profit, services are just to get you through the door. Employees are instructed to do the hard sell, because even though you stood your ground, many give in a purchase products.
  10. The tip lines are there for folks who want to leave a tip. Cruise ships are cashless, many don’t carry cash but want to tip at the bar or specialty restaurants. I tip at the bar (but bring singles), I don’t tip at specialty restaurants, so I leave it blank. If I’m using a tablet at a business on land yo pay for food I’m picking up, I usually put $0 for the tip. However, those machines are pretty generic, the same ones can be used for sit down service where I want to add a tip. Should there be no way to leave a tip so not to frustrate or offend those who choose not too?
  11. Lol I doubt that will change, there isn’t space, and I don’t think cruising tourists add much profit.
  12. But in the US they’re not and tipping is expected (not covered by health insurance unless it’s a medical massage). My daughter is getting her doctorate in physical therapy, she will not expect tips.
  13. No, because that isn’t a tipped position. A massage is a tipped service, lime hair dresser or manicurist.
  14. I can guarantee if you get a massage in the US a tip is expected. The spa/salon are not run by NCL, it’s leased space, I wonder if the staff in there get that 20% at all.
  15. Decades ago, my husband and I stayed at a hotel in Boston, his car was broken into (Volkswagen fox, cheap car) and his guitar was stolen from his trunk. I’d never leave a car in a city in an unsecured lot (we live 10 miles from Manhattan, safe town, but nightly car break in’s).
  16. If you stay in Manhattan it really doesn’t matter how close the hotel is to the MCT. Personally I’d probably choose a waterfront hotel in weehawken or Jersey city, cheaper than hotels in Manhattan but a short path or ferry ride. I’d take the ferry over the next morning and just walk to the MCT (I think the ride is around 7 minutes).
  17. Same as most restaurants in the US, many times all tips are pooled and then bus boys and bartenders get tipped out.
  18. I support not delivering to those who don’t put a tip, they get paid $2.50 to drive to the restaurant, wait for your food, and deliver it yo your door, $2.50 doesn’t cover gas. Now drivers know which orders aren’t worth their time or charity.
  19. I don’t think you can book people into 2 different cabins so they get suite privileges, even if you pay the fare for both cabins for them.
  20. We have 5 kids, so we book a lot of connecting rooms. Hotels won’t guarantee connecting rooms, we’ve been put in 2 separate rooms several times, one booked. 2 bedroom and they said they gave it away, but we could have 2 one bedrooms for no extra charge (really? We paid for 1 room). We’ve had no issues on cruises since we choose the cabins and can see they’re connected on the deck plans. NCL has one and two bedroom suites but they cost way more than two regular cabins.
  21. We took a NCL cruise when the oldest 2 were 19 and 20. Fortunately they are very outgoing, had each other, and were determined to find a group. There were young adult meet ups every night. It’s a hard age, people this age can’t cruise without over 21’s, and not that many young adults cruise with their parents.
  22. My daughter sent hers in the beginning of august, got a letter 4 weeks later that her passport photo was not approved and to send a new one (thanks Walgreens, $20 wasted).
