  1. From some of the pics I’ve seen from this year’s cruises, it looks amazing. It wasn’t sold as an Expedition cruise, that is quite clear. It was sold as 2 full days of scenic cruising in the waters around the Antarctic Peninsula, with Paradise Bay as a highlight.
  2. Yes, I saw this. The changes also apply to the Feb 18th cruise. The cruise departing January 21, also had an issue re: missing Stanley on Feb1; while the Sapphire Princess and Azamara Quest tendered there. Passengers were initially told (the day before), it was due to weather, but discover differently through contacts on the island (such as their private tour vendors and port authorities), as well as, passengers on the Sapphire Princess. On that cruise, there was a gathering of a large group of unhappy Argentines in the Atrium. We were considering the same cruise for 2025, but now looking at the Sapphire Princess. The words “and Antarctica”, have since been removed from the title of the cruises for 2024 and 2025. That happened this weekend.
  3. Yikes, what a mess! Will the little tourist train be allowed? Just trying to clarify. We went up last year early in the morning on a 17 seater minibus tour. I remember thinking there isn’t much room here.
  4. We’ve gotten a kettle on two cruises we've taken outside of those sailing from the UK; one out of San Francisco and one out of Copenhagen. These are Princess issued kettles. Just to be clear these are small electric kettles, most often found on cruises out of the UK, but can be requested on cruises departing other ports.
  5. Gdańsk is a lovely town. We hired a taxi right outside the port as we wanted to go to a Motorcycle Museum in Gydnia and then over to Gdańsk. He took us all around for about €100. It was about 5 hours. We went to St.Mary’s church, the wharf along the Motlawa River and a resort on the beach. We really liked Gnask. Also I think we stopped at a local market. You have a lot of time in port, so @dfilpus suggestions are also good. We had a weird 0700-1400 time slot, so opted for the taxi. Our roll call formed a private tour, but it was full by the time we booked the cruise. It was good according to the 4 people I met. https://www.easygdansktours.com/shore-excursions-from-gdansk-and-gdynia/
  6. Skagen and Visby Check out this site https://backroadplanet.com At Skagen: we rented a taxi (DanTaxi) with another couple on the roll call. We went to Grenen, Sand church and the sand dunes, then dropped us in town, There was a port shuttle which I think was €5, even though the ship said it was free. It wasn’t. Visby: easy to walk on your own. There is a Scottish guy who gives free tours at 11am. Google free tours Visby ( I can’t post the link here, I believe). Tip at the end. Haguesund: we rented a car with another couple, (they drove). Try Viator to Langfoss Falls. This is worth getting out of town and is where we went. Viator and Get your Guide have a 24 cancellation polices so be aware of that.
  7. Hope you feel better soon. I’m also following a “live” from another site that has a large number of posters, mostly US citizens. These passengers were told this the day before.
  8. @scubacruiserx2 I am following as well. We are booked for 2/2/25. We've sailed on the Star twice We usually book one of the two br. on deck 11. Wishing you both a specify recovery. I wondered what had happened to you two, but I guess I forgot you were spending a few days post cruise in Patagonia. Thank you for the thread as it gives us( and others) an opportunity to learn from your experience. Did I understand correctly that the starboard side is better than the port side? ty
  9. Update: I received the total refund to my CC, but I did ask my CVP at Princess to take care of it. My situation was similar to yours. Passengers may need to request this.
  10. @cr8tiv1 That’s fantastic. Ty. Now if there was a lounge…….
  11. @HBCcruiser is there a concierge on the Caribbean Princess? I know there are rumors about this and a lounge on the ships that aren’t Royal Class. That would be nice.
  12. Thanks @MicCanberra yes, I’ve done google searches. I ask on cruise critic as I often discover amazing local businesses. We plan to use Uber and public transport for every other need while in Australia, except this arrival after the flight from the US. I did see a few companies in your post that my search didn’t return. Contacting them now. Thanks. Looking forward to our first visit to Australia &New Zealand. Yahoo!
  13. We are on United. Thank you both for your suggestions.
  14. Helo, I'm searching for private transport with a greeting in the International Arrivals Hall from SYD to the hotel. We don't want to use public transport or wait for an Uber/ Taxi. Ty so much! Coming in early to enjoy Sydney for a few days.
  15. My bad, Princess CVP. Very knowledgeable. Has gotten things done for me before. I probably also should have added quotations to the email. This is a bit of a surprise, (automatically refunding to OBC), when the SE was 100% purchased using a credit card and cruise is 4 months away. I don’t recall this happening before, and is contradictory to the policy link given above by @DHP1 as well as @NavyVeteran post. A few days ago, I read here on Cruise Critic this was an issue, so today I emailed my CVP requesting the cancellation and refund. I’ll post the outcome.
  16. @arizonabird Hi, a bit off topic, did you use a transfer service with a meet & greet at SYD? How is the executive lounge at the Marriott? Ty @jkhabc hope you are having a great time.
  17. Just did this today. Sailing is in May. I asked for a refund to my credit card and sent snapshot showing all of cost of the purchase was billed to my credit card. Here is her response. I have canceled the shore excursion. The system automatically refunds the onboard credit and then anything over that to the credit card. I can request for a manual refund of the difference since you don’t want the refund going back into the onboard credit. I have to wait 48 hours before I can put the request through giving time for the initial refund to process. I will follow up with you once this has been done.
  18. Here is the roll call for your cruise. Join the roll call.
  19. Although no announcement from Princess, @ceilidh1’s post verified it for me. She has always posted reliable and accurate information.
  20. You. have some good suggestions. Many of the companies that offered the Baltic port excursions as a package were based in St.Petersburg. Well, that ended abruptly. I think some of them are starting to make a comeback, after leaving Russia. We struggled to find private tours in 2022 and 2023. In my opinion, tour companies and other vendors were still struggling to get back up and running- either post Covid, or due to the War in Ukraine. There are some excellent suggestions above. Agree join the roll call. Also agree to look at Viator and Get your guide. I wouldn’t wait as their tours sell out as well. Here are some of ours: Skagen: we hired a Taxi with another couple. Email Anna at DanTaxi. Skagen has an “few” taxis. Went to Grenen, the sand dunes, the sand church. Copenhagen: Hop on hop off is a good option, lunch at Nyhavn Helsinki: hop on hop off here is OK, fish market and/or Senate Square are nice places to hop off Tallin: We did a ship tour, wonderful old town. Stockholm: Vasa Museum, Gamla Stan: there are hop on hop off boats. Nice ride around the harbor. If you dock out of Stockholm you need transportation to get there. We docked near town. Warnemune: We didn't go to Berlin, but to Rostock and Schwerin. We took the train with another American couple who lived in Germany. I’d have a plan B if you try to get on the ship’s waiting list.
  21. I have one that runs on battery or electricity. I disconnect the electrical cord and put it in a different bag. I also have used it with batteries, but it is less effective. I took this same type fan through security at San Pedro, but that was 2019. Last did this July 2023 Copenhagen, newer fan.
  22. Thank you for all the great comments. We take BART regularly and use the tube when visiting London. The roll call is having this discussion and since I (or apparently anyone else on the roll call) have even used the Princess transfer; I was asking the questions to help provide feedback for the group discussion as stated in post #1. Agree that Victoria Coach Station is kinda bleak, but have not been there in a few years either. Also agree the train is a great option, much better than our Amtrak. LOL. There is quite a bit of discussion about the train.
