  1. The tables for 2 on the Reflection are really close as you can see. There is more space on other S-class ships. But please don't say the atmosphere is elegant and intimate.

It's all relative. More elegant and intimate than the MDR or the buffet.;):)

  2. Nice to have pictures to dispel the exaggerations! Thanks.

BTW, we have eaten at the table on the lower right two or three times on the Infinity.

Not sure it's an exaggeration. Were those actual photos or ones from Celebrity's web site?

I'm on the Reflection right now and this was taken today. I used my cell phone as a reference and the tables were approximately eight inches apart.

  3. The ship WILL absolutely sail without you, if you have not returned to the ship timely...unless you are late returning from a ship sponsored excursion.

If you risk taking a privately arranged excursion, then you best make sure you return on time.

Pros and Cons of ship sponsored excursions is not what the OP posted about.

When in port for a short time and if traveling anywhere of significance (time wise), we never risk the private excursions unless we have hired a private car...but that's just us.

    Yesssssss.:)

  4. The things one learns on CC, had to look up motorboating.:o

We were on an all ready crowded elevator when two ladies insisted on squeezing on. Normally, another one or two is no problem but they were fluffy. Ding, ding, ding, bells started ringing and lights started flashing...OVERLOAD, OVERLOAD. They refused to get off until it was clear the elevator wasn't going anywhere. First time I ever experienced an overload.

  5. People are allowed to express opinions. I saw nothing offensive in it. Nothing rude was said. I think the responses criticizing the post were the unkind, non-gentle posts!

Ummmm, I said nothing about not being allowed to express an opinion. You saw nothing wrong with the post but others did. By the same token, I suppose I could say I could say I saw nothing wrong with the responses.;)

It would be nice if everyone took a moment to consider their comment and post in a kinder, gentler way.:)

  6. Wow! I don't get why this post has elicited hostile responses! It doesn't appear as though Gonzo is insulting anyone. He is not personally calling people on ships tours "cattle". The reference to cattle is describing how the ships tours treat people. I think he was trying to point out some of the issues with booking through the cruise line so that the OP will be aware.

    ...............

But there's a kinder, gentler way to state an opinion.;):)

  7. I hope you enjoy your upcoming Celebrity cruise. Is it an M or S class ship? I'm curious what other cruise lines you spread your wings with?

Reflection and is that an S class? Just not familiar with everything X.:o

We've been on NCL, Princess and Royal Caribbean, each more than just once. My Captain's Club put me in good standing with RC's Crown and Anchor, although we don't normally cruise for just the perks since some are good and some not so much.

It will also be interesting to see your interpretation of the Celebrity cruise after returning from a hiatus especially since you'll be in AQ.

Yes, it will and I'm sure I will not notice the cutbacks everyone talks about. Although I did think the Cova chocolates were the best.;)

You are on our cruise!! I cannot wait! We have friends that are joining my whole family since they enjoyed the Reflection so much in April.

    See you on board.

  8. The animals might not be a risk to you, but you might be a risk to them.

indeed, you are correct. I had the opportunity to get into a large caged area with Giant Pandas in Chengdu a couple of years ago and they made me wear plastic booties and gloves, not to protect me but to protect the pandas.

Yes BUT, concern for the animals has nothing to do with taking any medication..unless I'm missing something.

  9. Maybe we will get some feedback from someone on the ship now... hopefully by the time we get on it will be gone..

The ship will be very clean since they always do a deep cleaning after an outbreak. However, if a pax brings it on, which is usually the case, there may be a situation again. Best thing you can do is wash, wash, wash your hands with soap and water.

  10. Saw her in several ports this Fall in the Med. Still a beautiful ship and one of my favorites.

I long for the days of the Zenith, one of our favotites.

That's how Celebrity does B2B cruises -- they always start each cruise [they may have seemed like 'segments' to you, but there were separate cruises] with Menu #1. If you sail the true 14-day itineraries you will get all 14 menus.

I did B2Bs on NCL two times and found a couple of things I really liked on the menu. I was looking forward to having them the next week but the menu was

different. I didn't expect that on NCL.:)

  11. Hello my friend:) you will have to come back and give your impressions.

As you probably know, I have sailed Celebrity many times......2016

is the first time in a long time I didn't sail with them. I booked Reflection

for Feb ( a couple of weeks after you)......so after a year away, I will

    see for myself too.

Hope you both have a wonderful cruise and a Merry Christmas as well:)

Bummer, can't believe we are missing each other by a couple of weeks.:(

Wishing you well in the new year.:)

  12. I've seen some posts by people who say they are done with Celebrity and moving on. I don't know if they actually jumped ship or it was an idle threat. If they left for real, I'm going to even the score.:)

Our first cruise was on Celebrity and we went on to do five in a row. We spread our wings, for reasons I won't go into, but have always wanted to go back. Never had a bad cruise on any of the other lines but always felt Celebrity food was the best and there was just "something" overall that we never felt on other lines. I guess one could say that X has that X factor.:D

Come Jan. I will finally see if Celebrity is still my favorite compared to three other lines. Since we will be in Aqua Class, I've looked for threads to see what people are saying. One thread on Blu was probably 95% positive and a recent one is rather negative. I know I must take reviews with a grain salt so I will not let the negatives affect me.:)

It seems to me that it's those who have been in Aqua Class any number of times who see Blu as being repetitive and also see the changes/cutbacks. It's going to be all new to me so I probably won't notices the negatives.

    Celebrity, here I come!

  13. Well we thought that congratulations were in order.

Esp for someone that is so, so judgemental.

But congratulations, Your typing with your FEET has really come along in leaps and bounds.

    Next step Sell-Check.

Once again CONGRADS, on your achievement.:):):)

Sometimes it's hard to type with a hand injury.

    BTW, it's congrats.

  14. I'm not seeing anything on that link that involves cruising. I was really looking to find out how old the article was. EM

Well, that sure is bizarre. At least one poster saw it. It was on MSN.com news and the story is still there but for some reason, the link won't take you to the article.

Clicking on the on the link in the slide like Fishywood says only gives tips for scoring an upgrade either by paying or if your balcony prices go down to the price you booked a regular cabin, you can usually switch.

The whole premise to waiting til you board and asking doesn't fly and doubtful waiting until after your first port would work either, as the author suggested. Few ships sail with empty inventory.

  15. There was really nothing in this article that most people don't know.

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/tips/what-you-should-know-before-booking-a-cruise-ship-balcony-room/ss-AAkFDnd?li=BBnb7Kz#image=5

EXCEPT for #5. I'd sure like to know the many lines that do this.:D:D:D

"Don’t purchase your balcony room while booking your trip. Wait until after boarding. According to Roaming Around The World, many cruise lines try to entice their passengers with a Reduced Rate Upgrade Program in attempts to fill balcony state rooms that haven’t been purchased."

  16. I was also on The Reflection last week. The Princess and I decided that 7 days was just too short and decided to do both the Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises back to back.

I really loved Labadee and swimming with the stingrays at Grand Cayman is always amazing!

Did you book thru Celebrity or privately?
