  1. Hope you bring toilet paper approved for marine/ship use - you are probably one of the people clogging up the system.

Nope, that's an urban myth. Chengkp75 who is a ship engineer and posts facts, gave an explanation of the whole toilet system and why regular tp does not clog the system.

  2. i really regret not buying an NCL cruise next certificate because all i could do for weeks after i got back from my 1st cruise was look at prices and plan my next one. i'm going again in a few weeks since DEC is dirt cheap, but now i already started looking at next year and even other lines to see my options out of my local area.

how does one stop this addiction? i fear family and friends will be at home one day with an intervention.

    Maybe watch this.

Even a bad day on a cruise is better than a good day at work.:D

Not so sure about that. :D

  3. Beg to differ Phil and I do like prune juice. The written menus are one thing but almost everything you mentioned can be had on the regular menu by just asking. That's why I said in reality, its another one of Celebrity perks for certain cabins that really isn't.

But, there's probably a large percentage of people who don't know you can ask for anything so it can still be considered a perk for certain cabins.;):)

  4. Bring what you think is appropriate. Remember that the people in most Caribbean ports are very poor so they appreciate everything. Always ask how much a cab fare will be, but you do not have to pay that. They inflate their prices for cruise passengers because they think they have money. For example, in Mexico, if a store by the port or a taxi say the cost is $20, only actually give them $10 when you pay. Unfortunately many people do not know this practice is acceptable and overpay.

Well, gol-leeeeee, since they are very poor and they appreciate everything, I'm really going to save some money and give them $5.00. Nope, don't want to overpay.

  5. I'm thinking about taking the allotted 2 bottles of wine on my RCCL cruise next month for the first time. Do I just carry the bottle from the room to the dining room? Is there something for sale somewhere that will look a little more classy? I would feel weird just carrying a bottle all around the ship! (I posted here since it seems like a generic question) Thanks!

Well, there's always the brown paper bag.:D

But, if you really want something to carry it in, surely you can find something here.:)

  6. Did not like Roberi's dress that they gushed over.

Didn't really care for Jeni's outfit and didn't think it was appropriate for her mother's occupation. However, I would have sent Erin home over her with that dreadful coat and hideous dress. After starting strong, she has been in the bottom for a couple of weeks now and like Tim said, how many times have they seen that coat?

    This is Mah-Jing's mother.

  7. Let's be a bit clearer: "reasonable accommodation" on a ship is vastly different than in a shoreside building.

I also have to chuckle at the comments about "overcrowding." What constitutes "cramming in" depends heavily on your point of reference. If you've ever been a NYC subway commuter, you can always fit another couple of folks.

Yes, it does but we're talking about ship elevators.:D I was on an already crowded elevator and when the doors opened, the ladies waiting were told there was no room. Despite their size, they crammed in. A bell started ringing and OVERLOAD kept flashing but they refused to get off. Their protest was futile because the elevator wasn't going anywhere. They finally got off.

First time I ever experiened an overload on a ship although there were times when I thought the car was overloaded.

  8. Well, I think it is just the natural course this thread took... people are giving OP some ideas and thoughts. :)

Maybe but maybe there are some reasons the OP has that were not mentioned.:) Giving any advice, ideas or thoughts on something dealing with children is usually something I try to always avoid. Yes, I had some of the same thoughts that others expressed but decided to let them go and tried to answer like Clarea might.;)
