  1. I don’t know how you can possibly know what I am doing on a cruise to think that in 99% of cases I am going to my cabin. It certainly wasn’t the case on QM2, when I had a cabin near the Library, so I often passed it to go there, or to the bridge viewing area, or to the Commodore Club. I bet parents won’t turn it off, which is sad, as I think I had most fun as a child or teenager when my parents didn’t exactly know where I was.
  2. The more I read about these Medallions, the more the terrify me. First I learn they unlock my door when I happen to be passing, and now I learn they enable my travelling companions to spy on me. How can this be permissible?
  3. Also, it is amazing how strongly people seem to feel about this. 😀
  4. Thank you. I don’t remember that, but then I don’t remember what I had for lunch yesterday.
  5. And the same applies when you get on the train. Move on inside, don’t stop in the doorways, or you’ll impede those behind.
  6. I’ve found a picture, and it does indeed look much much nicer.
  7. Yes, it does seem to vary from cruise to cruise, and ship to ship. I’ll try and find the refurbished QM2 Grills Lounge. 😀
  8. I thought I had better get that it to save others the trouble of implying it. How is the Icelandic weather?
  9. I can see little to dislike about her, and a lot to love, and I don’t really get this claim that she is not a proper Cunarder. I think she is great mainly. Perhaps that just shows my low calibre tastes, though.
  10. I felt completely the opposite: the PG is calm, quiet, very restful, and with a window view. I felt no sensation of bustle. The table is a good size, and the right height for the chairs, so you don’t have to lean over in an awkward way. The QM2 Grills Lounge has not much of a view, uncomfortable furniture, unless they have changed it since 2022, and a complete lack of charm. I didn’t find it restful at all.
  11. PGs are the only aspect of the Grills experience that isn’t nicer on the Vistas. The QM2 ones are infinitely nicer.
  12. Well, it might be if you are allowed to have a comfort dog with you. Is that what they are called?
  13. I’m sure Cunard can provide if requested.
  14. I didn’t spend much time there, as I don’t dance and don’t enjoy the sort of music mentioned. On the rare occasions we had tea, we would go elsewhere. But I thought its decor was very boring, just nothing really. Strange when there are so many gorgeous spaces, such as the Britannia Restaurant, the commodore Club and the Pavillion. However, it is a bit nicer than the Grills Lounge, of course. 😀
  15. The thing with classless is it is ambiguous, which could be a reason for choosing it. Didn’t they used to describe QE2 as a one class ship?
  16. I’m hoping that will pay for your next cruise.
  17. I see the Grills Bar is now open from 10.30. This is a great improvement on 11.30, if you don’t mind your morning coffee in Stygian gloom. And they seem to be claiming bar service on the Grills Terrace, but perhaps not in the weather you have today.
  18. Except on the few occasions when they have live music, if they still do that.
  19. Even more so the Concierge Lounge. Now I think about it, the QM2 Concierge Lounge was probably the inspiration for the Grills Lounge on QA, although that does have a little natural light, while the QM2 one has none whatsoever.
  20. We nearly cancelled our cruise in May the day before sailing for exactly that reason. But it didn’t turn out too badly, because we swapped places every meal, so I was only staring at a wall for half the time, and there was a sort of sideways view towards the end windows, so you could see the sea through there.
  21. I was just about to say that it has always been my impression that the number of tables of difference sizes varies, depending on what passengers request.
  22. QG and PG restaurants, Grills Lounge, Concierge Lounge on Deck 9, and the Grills Terrace. That’s it, I think. None of these areas is particularly desirable, other than the restaurants, and architecturally they are much less impressive than the Britannia.
  23. I don’t know it well, but it is one of the busiest Underground Stations. I suspect it mainly depends what time of day and where you are moving between.
