  1. Yes, that would do nicely. Does it have dining perks in the nicer restaurants or do you still pay more? Don’t know how the pricing compares either, because we are in pounds. 7 days on QA in August 2026 in a Q4 is £2969.
  2. Hmm, think I might have to go up a level to compare with QG on Cunard. Any photo?
  3. Could you sneak in a photo of, say, a Junior suite, just for comparison?
  4. So do I, the brochures, that is.
  5. Before you are allowed on board, usually. And if you give them your luggage instead of struggling with it yourself, it is quite likely to arrive before you.
  6. This all seems so much a US thing. Cunard halved the size of the casinos on their Vistas (and used the space for single cabins) because on European cruises the Casinos are usually virtually empty. I often feel quite sorry for the unoccupied croupiers as I wander through.
  7. That is what they probably said about the Captain of HMS Hood, just before a hawser broke as he was docking at Gibraltar, killing my husband’s uncle. But they probably do.🙂
  8. Goodness gracious. How on earth does the company make any money, with all those free drinks and free cruises?
  9. They don’t seem to have done last summer, the meanies.
  10. Personally I slightly prefer QE, though whether I shall ever see her again seems rather doubtful.
  11. Yet another respect in which I fail. Never done that, and never would, for fear of bumping into someone. 🙂
  12. Enchanting. Did Cunard in London really sell tickets priced in $? Some would put the lack of Wi-Fi as a pro. For me the biggest con would be the lack of stabilisers and at least a large window in the cabin. I think she may have had enough lifeboats given Cunard’s serious and much lauded neurosis over safety and that her tonnage was quite a lot lower than that of the Olympic class ships.
  13. Nobody will find that offensive, I’m sure. Clearly nothing to do with the University.
  14. And, of course, I deeply regret to say that it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that Cunard Shoreside may be wrong. 😀
  15. No problem with booze. Take what you like. No need to tip, but, if you do, the last night is the time to do it in the restaurant. I’ve no idea what a brogue Oxford is, but, if it is black, no one will notice it. Have a splendid time.
  16. At Southampton, I can’t even see an opportunity for this imaginary officious employee. The only people interested in your baggage are security before boarding, who are trying to look for things that might be dangerous to the ship or fellow passengers, so they wouldn’t be interested. And then you are on board, and a few people are standing around to greet you or point you at the lifts, but they don’t look in bags. So when could it happen?
  17. This is not such an issue now, because so much less documentation is needed. But, when they were restarting after Covid and needed a lot of different documentation, some of which they seemed to look at more than once, queues always seems to form behind people who had it all on their phone and couldn’t quite find the right one. Counterintuitively, people took less time to search through a sheaf of papers. Anyway, won’t you have to print out your luggage labels, so you can do it all at the same time?
  18. What do you do with this? Wear it, eat it, put it on the mantlepiece, hang it on a wall?
  19. I think you are going to have to talk me through this in simple non gambler’s terms. But I assume it is another way of accruing benefits, unrelated to days on board.
  20. That’s pretty good. It would bankrupt Cunard, given that so many of their passengers would be the equivalent of D+. The bar takings would plummet.
  21. Oh dear, I’m going to have to ask about the different loyalty grades. I do hope the system is not as difficult as Celebrity’s. But given the co-ownership, I imagine it probably is.
