  1. Well, at least that doesn't look half baked.
  2. If they don't have that, they certainly should. You can request a shower chair, but I don't think it fits in the rather narrow tubs. It barely fit in our tiny stall shower in a corner aft on K'dam. No way it would have fit in the tub.
  3. I worked with a hotel diva. She used to say that "roughing it" is staying in a hotel that doesn't have 24-hour room service. I haven't stayed in the exec suite at the Pan Pacific but I certainly never paid anything like $2300 for a room there!!!
  4. They probably do adjust allocation to the different segments if one is selling better than others. HAL does a similar allocation and they do shift cabins from one segment to another.
  5. I suspect it's HAL's computer spewing standard communications. Are you going to an island that is not a "usual" stop on a Caribbean cruise?
  6. Just to clarify, all cabins have showers. Not all are stall (walk-in) showers. More often than not the verandah cabins have the shower over the tub. As @oakridger said, the verandah cabins with shower only are marked on the deck plans. I think these were changed from tub to stall shower on the older ships in a refit to give people more choice. Neptune suites have a separate stall shower from the tub. (I think Sig suites do, too, but I'm not sure about that) On some ships where there's a stall shower and a tub, there's a shower over the tub. On other ships (K'dam is one) the tub has no shower.
  7. This just reminded me of something I didn't like at Pinnacle last winter (Volendam). The mashed potatoes tasted like instant. Cheap instant, the powdery stuff. I was shocked that they could stoop so low, especially when the rest of the meal was very good.
  8. I can't remember being unhappy with the food in Pinnacle, but I've had terrible service and excellent service. One of the worst experiences was breakfast in the Pinnacle one of the times we had a Neptune suite. Several mornings items were missing. One morning, I never got my main course. She set down DH's plate and walked away. I thought she went to get mine, but no. She disappeared. At another table, a man waited so long for syrup that his pancakes were cold. The worst was the morning the server spilled a glass of OJ all over me. The next morning, we had breakfast in the MDR to make a point. And, yes, they noticed. The manager of Pinnacle called to ask why we went to the MDR. So I told her. Next morning, we tried Pinnacle again, and a young woman we hadn't seen before came to our table to apologize for the problems we'd had. She had NEVER been our server, but the horrible manager sent her to face us. Quality of service starts at the top. Sometimes Pinnacle has good managers and sometimes not.
  9. Yeah, once you've had lobster fresh like that, it's hard to accept the frozen tails. I never order lobster on a ship. You did omit one thing about the fresh lobster--served with LOTS of melted butter!!!!
  10. I found my final statement. I did not get drinks and grats. (Sorry to get your hopes up--I was confusing it with my QE cruise where I booked PG to start with). The only OBC I got was from my Carnival stock. My original booking was after final payment ("sailing soon") so it had no perks to begin with. This was QA in May.
  11. HAL's tour descriptions are usually good about describing walking conditions, like uneven surface or how far you have to walk. Zipline descriptions usually describe stairs. If you really want to talk to the vendor, try an internet search for the title of the tour. Look at the wording and pictures of what comes up in your search and compare that to what's on HAL's site. You might be able to discover who the vendor is that way.
  12. I did get the drinks package when I bid up from Britannia to PG. I don't remember if I got grats, too.
  13. Did you try to do a booking? You can go through several steps without committing to purchase anything. Sometimes the first page you see shows a lot of categories and then when you continue on to make your selection, it will say "sold out." Or was the website offering only guarantees, in which case you can't investigate what's available.
  14. You can send a bag at any time except near the end of the cruise, when it might not be done in time. Sometimes there are "fill a bag" specials.
  15. I avoid the steak argument by having the lamb chops, which have always been excellent. I order medium rare and ask them to hold the bean puree, as I don't see that as a good accompaniment to the chops. I order a potato as an alternate starch. Two years ago on Eurodam, service in the Pinnacle was so-so and staff seemed rushed. Last year on Volendam, it was top-notch.
  16. Haha! We all need more paint as we get older. One of the fun things to do on a canal transit is to watch from a lower window, where you're down in the canal and can see the wall as you go by. Lots of paint left behind.
  17. Navigating through the US Carnival corp site brings me to the page confirming dates through Dec 31, 2024. Shareholder Benefit | Carnival Corporation & plc
  18. QE because something about her feels home and special to me, and I love the Vista design (I love HAL's Vistas, too), especially the thermal suite QV close second because she has all the things I love about a Vista. Minus points for her distance from home, so long flight needed to join her cruises QM2 VERY close third because of the grandeur and the wonders of a crossing on her. Minus points because I don't like her thermal suite and I hate Kings Court. and there's a fourth ship, I think? Seriously, QA is my fourth choice because I don't like the Pinnacle design (don't like HAL's Pinnacles, either). Lack of promenade, small Queens Room, much too small thermal suite. But plus points for Bright Lights.
  19. How the cruise line sees the morning. "We've loved having you with us, now don't let the door hit you in the posterior on the way out." How the passenger sees the morning. Return to reality.
  20. Not paranoid, sensible. I've had my bag taken by mistake. It went from Brooklyn to Port Liberty where it spent 10 days in the Caribbean. I have to say the port services people at Brooklyn were wonderful. They did everything they could to find it, but by the time it was found sitting in a hallway in Somehing Big of the Seas, it was too late to retrieve it. When it got back to the port, they delivered it to my home. (This was before the tracker devices) I used to laugh at the ribbons and such on luggage, thinking silly people can't recognize their own bags, but now I see it your way, making sure others don't think it's theirs. My new luggage tag is large, red and says THIS IS MINE. And to answer the original question, once I've had breakfast, there's nothing to do but sit around and wait to disembark. There are no activities, because all staff are busy, some doing crowd control for the disembarking passengers, others doing set-up/prep work for the next bunch. If I have onward travel, then looking forward to that makes me eager to go. If I'm going home, then the vacation is over, might as well get on with the everyday stuff.
  21. Welcome home, HH! And welcome to what I call the "penalty phase" of a holiday--unpacking, laundry, sorting the mail, etc. At least your cat looked at you. One of ours would shun us when we got home. Meals were accepted, of course, but other than that, she would turn her back on us. The dog, OTOH, would become velcro puppy, following Mom around--you're home, you're home, please don't leave me again, I missed you so much, you're my human and I want you with me...
  22. Did they not do a Platinum/Diamond priority dismbarkation? (Or was it so exclusive that they didn't show it on the list?) They didn't do it when I was on QA in May, but there were too many high level WC members to do it. On QE in July, there were so few high-level repeaters that they did a lounge (I think there was coffee) and priority disembarkation for gold as well as platinum and diamond.
  23. I think it's likely the excursion followed Mary to her new room, but all of them should check, in case the system does something odd. If the excursion was booked by Jane, she should check her account and "purchases." If HAL cancelled one of the three tickets for the excursion, Jane should have received an email notification and found a refund on the card she used to book the excursion. If neither of these happened, the excursion is probably still there, all three booked. Jane (as the name on the booking) should contact HAL (or the TA if she used one) to have the bookings for the two rooms linked.
  24. I agree that it's probably confusing wording. I may pack an ordinary hardware store extension cord. The charger for my camera battery is kind of large and clunky, and depending on the placement of outlets, it won't fit in the space around the outlet. I think it was Queen Victoria last year, when I had that problem because of a small ledge above the desk. The only place I could charge the battery was a low wall outlet in the library, so I had to plan my charging time around the library's hours.
