  1. We are with AMA Waterway. We looked at Viking, and wanted to go with them, but they were sold out until way into 2024.
  2. WE could possibly be on the same tour! Enjoy!
  3. Exactly! Mrs Banjo and I leave for a 2 week tour of Egypt and included a 4 day side trip to Jordan to visit Petra later this month. For us this is a Bucket list tour, so it’s now or never for us
  4. Thank Terry for all the great responses and info. As for a Vista suite, almost never for Mrs Banjo and I. Mrs Banjo always want to enjoy the Veranda, in fact, in October when we cruise the Norwegian Fiords, it will be our first SS cruise, (and only the 2nd time ever), that we cruised without a Veranda. For this one occasion, we felt the weather would prohibit the use of the veranda, so instead we booked a Panorama Suite because of its location on the ship and the oversized window. Also, we booked Port to Port using the prepaid option for a 20% discount giving us a significant savings over a Superior Veranda and a better location than a vista suite. We can't use the Blacklane service from home, because they don't operate in our home area and we normally book our own flights, so the door to door doesn't make much sense for us anyway. The prepaid option savings, after buying private trip insurance, was just icing on the cake.
  5. I have received a similar survey in the past, so not totally surprised.
  6. so we found out that the website price IS the 20% discounted price. The website is very confusing for a first time booking, but so long as we know. The good news is that Mrs Banjo and I are booked on B to B cruises in January from Ft Lauderdale to Papeete. We were originally booked on a similar Silversea cruise for 2022, but Covid canceled that and Silversea has not put this IT back onto their offerings. So, we are very excited to be making up for lost time and looking forward to the boutique ships of Azamara. Actually, we did sail on another R Class ship previously with Princess Cruises and we loved the size and layout, so almost like coming home.
  7. Thank you all for the great info!
  8. Thank you. I think I will book the B to B cruises very soon. Looking forward to being on board in January
  9. so, I was looking at that promo as well. Is the price listed on the webpage a net price after the 20% or is 20% taken off after booking? Could not seem to find the details clearly spelled out, for an Azamara newbee
  10. Hi All: Mrs Banjo and I are considering a first time cruise on Azamara Onward. WE are experienced cruisers and have cruised on this ship when she was the Pacific Princess, some years ago. Can somebody comment on the ship's overall condition? WE are hoping it is in good shape and are looking forward to a B to B on her in January 2024. Thanks in advance
  11. We saw one of the inside cabins on another cruise line as well. Mrs Banjo just said "I would rather not cruise at all". But, I do remember our very first cruise in 1990 on the Island Princess. Our cabin on Fiesta deck, (5), was VERY SMALL, and the sofa turned into a bed each night, but we did have a porthole, so all was good.....Until she saw a suite....
  12. Wow, now that you mention it, it is really weird that I am old enough to remember Party Lines as well. Thanks Terry for reminding me! LOL
  13. same with Us. literally right downtown. And, we were lucky enough to have the circus in town as well. Made for a memorable self shore excursion!
  14. This is exactly what Mrs Banjo and I do. We always check with the cruise line, because, as you said, they might have a really good deal. On our cruise in southeast Asia, SS wanted to book us on Emirates and fly through Dubai on to Hong Kong. I was able to ID a flight from Boston to Hong Kong direct, saving 10 hours of travel time and no connections. After some wrangling, SS agreed and we got great routes, bot to and from the cruise with little extra paid for the deviation fee. Having said that, it doesn't always work out, so I always look at what is available to book on my own. sometimes it is a better deal.
  15. wow...... "collect Calls"......... What a throwback!
  16. Thanks Terry, I would have never guessed that Port Canaveral would have more pax than either Miami or Port Everglades. Of all the ships mentioned, Mrs Banjo and I will never be on board any..... Just to big for our taste.
  17. Mrs Banjo and I have done this on occasion.
  18. I keep my friends Captain Morgan and Johnny Walker closer than an unknown bottle of Vodka.
  19. I don’t think so, but it never hurts to ask. If you don’t ask, the answer is always NO
  20. Well said, I totally agree, Mrs Banjo and I refuse to go on big boats with lots of Pax. Mostly we look for ships that are even smaller than the 700 pax mark. In the past we have cruised on ships that are bigger, on lower priced lines, and bought up to the suite category for the extra attention, but now those lines are mostly mega ships, and we have no interest in them, no matter the price.
  21. I think that goes along with “Yes, we have no bananas”
  22. Oh….. I was wondering why mine didn’t work ! Haha
