  1. We are booked on the connoisseur land tour later this year and it includes 2 meals per lodge usually breakfast and dinner.
  2. @cruisewkid ok thanks...salmon for me can go either way. But will get tired of it and we do have a meat eater with us who will want something other than fish as well. We are hoping for some other local items like cariboo or something. In 2010 the last time we were in Alaska DH had a burger that I think was cariboo or something like that...not something you typically get in California.
  3. That is great thank you sooo much. What about the dinners at the lodges...did you by chance take any photos of the menus, if not was there anything that stood out as great or something to avoid....?
  4. @cruzsnooze we have one night in Anchorage at the Captain Cook, then 2 nights at McKinley and then 2 in Denali then the train down to the ship..grand princess. How were the menus/food items in the lodges? Was there anyplace to buy bottled water not a case just a couple of bottles since the drink package doesn't extend to the land.
  5. Thank you all this is most helpful. I will look into that movie it sounds familiar and we love visiting movie sites..we did the Goonies house when in Astoria along with the other sites there.
  6. Sweet great thank you..that will be our back up in case princess doesn't offer the bus there like we had on another cruise but never made it into SB as it was foggy and princess just pulled anchor and made it a sea day..currently they don't have the bus but it is still early as we go next year April.
  7. Hi does anyone know if it is possible to do Solvang on our own? We are not wine drinkers so don't want a wine tour, we are just looking for a pickup at the dock to Solvang and then a ride back.....is Uber there...does that seem doable?
  8. I saw that the meals with the tour do have gratuity...but we also have daily gratuity on the ship and gratuity added to the drink packages and most still tip out waiters and bartenders....so I was curious as to how folks handled it on the land based portion.
  9. Hi I am looking for anyone who recently (postcoivd) has done one of these tours. I am looking to see if those who had this tour also tipped the folks at the lodges during dinner. I saw the big long very helpful thread from I believe Caribill (sp?) but I didn't see any notes if they tipped during the dinners. Please don't turn this into a debate about tips and it is up to the individual ...I know all that...I am simply asking for those that have done this what they have done.
  10. Sweet thanks we for sure now have our plan a and plan b set depending on how we feel that morning.
  11. That is ok..do you remember if there were taxis at the dock?
  12. Sure we have not done it yet but have read great reviews for it. We were originally thinking the downtown tour but are now doing the chocolate and churches one. You can do it with the guide during certain seasons or on your own all year..you just download the app/passport and then go along the walk hear the history and then stop at the locations and get the samples. We are doing the on our own so we can stay more or less in certain churches and then weave in some lunch and shopping vs b2b chocolate. Then we are going to walk back to the ship past this park we found last time.. Beacon Hill Park. It was so lovely some spots seemed like a Thomas Kinkade painting but we didn't have enough time to fully walk around and take it in as we had to get back to the ship. https://offtheeatentracktours.ca/downtown-food-city-tour/
  13. Thanks yeah we don't mind walking but both of us do have some issues that can flare up so we wanted to plan ahead for some options as a backup. Were the taxi's you saw by the ship or in town by say the Empress hotel?
  14. Thanks we have a on our own walking foodie tour so were not sure if we could walk there , then do tour and walk back..we were thinking possibly ride there do tour and walk back to ship walking off the lovely food from the tour..but at least I know we have some options..never thought about local taxi so thanks for that info
  15. Hi Coral, in Victoria was princess still offering the bus that takes you into the center of things? In the past it dropped off and picked up in front of the Empress Hotel. If they did offer it do you recall the price of it? Thank you and I enjoyed your trip reports.
  16. I see the world 2025 is up and available to book for all tomorrow...Hey princess where is FALL 2024 for Mexican Riviera....
  17. would love if anyone took photos of the new food options?
