  1. I am not the OP but have been following because we too are looking into rides from LHR to our hotel, Park Plaza County Hall. It is near Waterloo. I have been looking into all options. Am interested in what might be the fastest and then also price. If we took the tube, about how long might it take (We get into LHR at 1030)? What tube lines/stations should we be using? If we paid for a car service how long would that take at that hour? Also, does anyone know how long after we get off the plane to allow for getting through everything and getting our luggage? We will be in T3. Thanks for all your help! FYI- OP, looks like we come in the day before you but are sailing on a different ship. We will take the train to Southampton and when disembarking ship use International Friends (we have used them before) for an excursion with drop off at our LHR hotel.
  2. May I ask what the caveat is? We are planning our pre cruise stay in London and checking out options to get to Southampton.
  3. Thank you. Are trains labeled as fast as opposed to, I assume, ones with lots of stops?
  4. We are staying at Park Plaza County Hall. How long is the train to Southampton Central? Once in Southampton how far is the station to West Quay shopping center? Our hotel, Premier Inn is nearby. Thanks.
  5. I never heard of this UNTIL I got it! Usually after a cruise I would feel like I was still on the ship for up to a week. Took many cruises. Then, in November of 2017 I took a ten day cruise. The bobbing didn't go away. About six weeks later I went on another ten day cruise. Fine on the ship (usually you're fine while in motion such as in a car or on a ship) but once home it didn't go away. That is when I did some googling and found a wonderful group of people on F who have this. Some people have really high symptoms. Some people have had it for decades but didn't know what it was. Some sad stories but mostly people asking for advise. Most doctors are not familiar with it so suggest taking meclizine, etc which does not help this (doesn't hurt either). Many people are on anti-anxiety drugs. Most say don't cruise again. Some of us that are mild (such as me) still cruise. I have cut back on the number and length of cruises and now will only cruise 7 days and not fly home the day I get off. The one time ,after I got this, I went on a 10 day cruise I flew home that day and my symptoms were a little higher for about 6 weeks. Cruised in the Med in September for 7 days and flew home next day. Symptoms were not higher. Oh, and it is a syndrome if you have it for more than 30 days. Most people do tend to get better within a few months. It is considered being in remission and if they cruise again it is prone to come back. As for a remedy for you and your wife... don't fly home the day of disembarkment.
  6. Thank you all for your responses. I appreciate it. We will be in Norway for four ports so we would not need a lot of Norwegian Krone. Knowing that tipping is not generally expected helps. We would not want to insult anyone by either not tipping or tipping in US dollars if tipping was expected.
  7. We will be on a seven day Norwegian fjords cruise in the summer. Our ship departs from Southampton. Do we need to purchase Norwegian Krone? We have booked three private excursions and one through the ship. Thanks!
  8. Crew appreciation is supposed to cover the tips. Some (but not all) people tip servers and stewards extra in cash. It is not expected but I am sure appreciated. IF we tip extra we do so at the end of the cruise in cash in an envelope.
  9. FYI - all the Royal class ships honk the Love Boat theme (although I don't know about the Majestic as it was first built for the Chinese market)
  10. I thought Elite was after 15 cruises. Anyways, it does not matter how the b2b was booked (7 days, 14 days, etc). What matters is the legs. Turnaround day is the end of a cruise even if you are staying on for another. If you booked two 7 day cruises as one 14 day cruise it is two cruises. This loyalty person doesn't know what she is doing. Just go tomorrow after this leg is over and show her on either your app or princess.com that you are now Elite. good luck
  11. I DO recommend visiting Paris from Le Havre. We did it on our BI cruise. Drove by the Arc de Triomphe, went to the Louvre, had lunch in the Eiffel Tower, and drove along the Champs Elysee. Wish I could have had more time there but I didn't and probably won't be back although one never knows.
  12. Thank you. I checked it out but apparently the laptop needs to be connected to the internet via ethernet and not wifi. Oh well. Not really a problem for us.
  13. How do you use a laptop as a hotspot? I have a Mac. Thanks.

  15. Good thinking. I have a cross body Travelon bag that is not big so I can definitely wear it under my jacket .
  16. Are the bottoms slick? Maybe they are afraid that old people will fall and break a bone.
  17. @Steelers36 I don't remember what I did now but I was able to purchase two of them. I think at some point I may have used a different credit card. I checked my cc online and see two pending transactions so all is well.
  18. Because of the increase in a few days to buying wifi, I downloaded the app onto dh phone (he rarely uses it). We are traveling with someone who has never cruised Princess so we are going to buy 2 single device wifi. with our Elite discount. I assumed I needed to do this under my name and then again under his on his phone. Well, I bought one on his phone on the new app. It is my credit card. I then went onto my phone and when I try to buy the single device wifi it lets me fill everything in and when I click submit I get a pop up that something is wrong. I tried it a few times. Anyone know what I should do? thanks.
