Sort of. The Grand Class "evolved" to include the Rivera Deck which is an extra passenger deck. The thing you are interested in - the above-bridge decking - is indeed there on Caribbean Princess. It's on Lido Deck. Don't be confused by the previous poster specifically stating "Deck 15" as, on ships without Riviera Deck it is actually Deck 14. On CB (which you inquired about) Lido Deck actually is Deck 15. On many other ships it is Deck 14.  Just look at the deck plans.

I always just say, even though Caribbean is somewhat part of the grand class, I just go with it's in a class of it's own. Unique to its own.

Question about Caribe balconies on Royal.

When cruising on Crown, Emerald and Ruby I always book a Caribe Deck balcony because they are about 12 inches deeper than regular balconies on other decks.   Is this also true on Royal?    Are Caribe Deck balconies deeper?

    Thanks.

    Sadly no.

I’m on the Ruby Princess to Alaska in August and not able to complete the check-in process online because I don’t have my passport info yet. Some family members are waiting for the renewal so we don’t know the dates to input and one other child is waiting to receive a newly issued one. Does it matter that I can’t complete check-in yet? Should I just enter alternative drivers license info in order to finish it?

    thanks!

I totally know that excitement feel when you're booked on a cruise, and want to immediately fill out all your documents. No worries, you have plenty of time to fill out the passport info. I would just leave it blank till they arrive. The cruise personalizer doesn't have to be all filled out immediately. As long as it's done before 3-5 days before sailing, you'll be good. Usually 3 days prior I want to say, you can no longer fill in info. But no worries passport info can still be scanned once you arrive to to port at check in.

Enjoy your cruise. Alaska is one of favorite itineraries, as I've done it for summers now. You'll also love the Ruby, it's a beautiful ship.

I ate once at Le Mer on the Majestic.  It was Ok. Service was good but the food was not something I would choose again.  I am hoping that the location on the Sky will offer a little more privacy.  I chose an early reservation time and still heard quite a bit of noise from the Piazza.

The location according to deck plans is on deck 6 in the piazza. I know a lot of people were mentioning the concerns of ambiance. With Alfredo's, especially for lunch, I see no problem same with the sushi terrace in Royal and Regal, as they are both casual eateries.

  5. I feel like these drink packages may have potentially killed the happy hour. It always amazes me how many people have the package. I know plenty if people wait for those sip and sale promos. Then again those without the package for enjoy those happy hours. I'm not a drinker, but I enjoy observing these things. Crew and I always get into conversation on these kinds of stuff.

There's usually one Curtis Stone entree on the MDR menu...probably trying to drum up interest in Share.

I've tried 2. The absolutely gross Pork Belly which is just a big chunk of FAT. One bite was all it took.

The Chicken Pot Pie is pretty good, but it needs more veggies.

Those Curtis Stone additions in the MDR, don't exist in Share. One I do like in the MDR is the seafood stew bowl. Muscles, clam, halibut, scallops, and whatever else is in there. That's pretty darn good.

There are a couple of pretty good reviews on it. Now whether you can find them is another story.

I have no desire on my upcoming Sky cruise.

Usually I don't do specialty restaurants, but was curious as this was something new. Are used to do crown grill years ago but then I stopped. I done sabatini's before they change the menu which now has nothing I would ever touch. And I had a good group of people steer me in the right direction when I was tempted to try the Curtis Stone share restaurant. I'm glad I never did do it because I did not hear great things from people on the board and better yet from the head maitre d.

  9. It's a 1.5% redemption rate. If you call them, they will be gladly to help you. Many times I just tell them I want to cash in all my points for the redemption rate. Which they can do, just as long as there was a recent princess purchase within the 180 days.

Not exactly. Previously the CD had all the administrative  and entertainment responsibility with little time for passenger contact. The Deputy was assigned the Princess Patter as well as the ass't CD daily assignments. With the change the CD now has little or no administrative duties releasing time for passenger contact. The ED now handles the Princess Patter and other entertainment duties, mostly while in their office. The ED has very little passenger contact.

Interesting. Thank you for the insight.

  11. 8 minutes ago, Colo Cruiser said:

    Exactly.

Same with the ED. Never needed one for 30 plus years.

Big ships (Royal Class) have been around for 6 years with Princess.

Slightly different story on ED. First off the royal class ships really aren't that big. Thank God princess doesn't do those large shift like an oasis class of any form.

ED and cruise director are just simply a position title name change. Cruise directors changed to ED and the deputy Cruise director which was always the cruise directors right-hand assistant, they got the new titles of cruise director. Making the ED less involved with interacting with passengers as they're more behind the scenes now.

Uh... 5 to 10 years?? So anyone who has cruised enough to achieve Elite status has to sit through the same show from seven years ago, or pass on the entertainment?? Give me a break..

Princess made a big deal about the Schwartz partnership; our December cruise aboard the Regal had at least one of his new shows. It was fresh and unique.

    #TheMoreYouKnow

I stopped going to shows years ago. If I'm wandering around the ship, and happened to be nearby and hear  a good song, I'll stop by to watch that one and them continue my wandering.

They do a lovely job on their shows, I'm just on the same ship cruise after cruise. I don't mind, as I come onboard to truly just relax and unwind.

Hahaha. Actually I did do that. I just find the position odd considering the hotel manager has never needed a right-hand man to begin with so why does now make it any different. Hmmm. just found my observation to be very interesting when I was last on board.

  15. Honestly it comes down to personal preference of where you like being on a ship. For example I love the emerald deck being midship. You are correct that the caribe deck does not have the extended balconies on the royal class ships. to be advised that on emerald deck not all cabins have a clear view outside as the lifeboats tend to obstruct some cab. But those cabins will be labeled as obstructed balconies. Anything above dolphin and up has no obstructions.

On the CB where would one do that pray tell.  🤔

On the Regal a handful of times, the pizza guys up on the lido have offered to make me a personalized pizza. With whatever I wanted on it. This came after I asked why they had to put ham on one of their specialties (which I can't eat) along with all the other goodness ontop. That's when they said they would always be more than happy to make me my own private little pizza. Always do kind, but also it could be based on his making it I don't know.

Also at Alfredo's they're amazing at customizing a pizza for you as well. No questions ever asked, always with a smile.

Hello!  I haven't been on Princess for a few years- Will be going at Christmas & New Years this year with my DH.  I'm excited since we have missed Princess.

    A have a few questions.

Medallions..... I read a little about them- What should I know about them/recommendation for use?  DH is NOT techy, I am more- but not really.  Anything you can tell a newbie is appreciated.

What can you tell me about the World Market? And Planks?

Any don't miss things you can tell me?

    THANKS!

    Gabriellle

To be fair, I think the world market buffet is a huge step up from Princesses older ships and their lido buffet. Presentation and quality has definitely improved, with a wide array of selection different daily. The decor and design was smartly done, giving a warm cozy family oriented vibe.(Still incomparable to the their Royal class ships). Some unique funded in the WM are,  In the morning you can find a variety of fresh fruit / vegetable smoothie drinks. Planks and steamers are open as a normal buffet for breakfast and lunch. At steamers / planks they offer a create your own omlette station where you fill a cup with all the ingredients you'd like. For lunch which I thought was neat wAs as steamers and planks they have your make your own take meals. for example they would have a day where it was make your own stir fry and then they had a ramen noodle bar where you just put all your ingredients in a bowl new hand it to them and they cook it and they give you a pager until your meal is done. It was pretty quickly made. I just thought it was very unique. each day at the world market it's a different destination theme. P.S. one of my most favorite food finds with the day they did Asian cuisine and they had the most amazing kung pao chicken and there vegetable spring rolls were amazing. I never really do doubles but I definitely had like triples of that it was amazing.

Typically on older princess ships especially those that don't have the world market usually you can find me for breakfast lunch and dinner strictly in the main dining room for sit-down meals because I can't stand the layout and the lack of variety of food. Usually I find nothing up there to my liking. but on board the caribbean princess I would just do my dinner in the main dining room cuz I was able to get along just fine for breakfast and lunch in the buffet.

also keep in mind they upgraded the pizzeria to slice and they upgraded Trident grill the burgers to salty dog. So they have great selections over there as well that are unique.
