To be safe, I'm printing ours even though we shouldn't need it. You can open and save your medallion access pass on your smart phone in the Ocean Ready app - but even the app recommends printing it.

Even though I download all my boarding passes (amtrak, planes etc) into the wallet app on my iPhone, I always carry a printed copy as well. I worry that I'll have an electronic malfunction at the last minute.

I do have to tell you though that my adult kids think I'm overly cautious. I print copies of everything including the picture page of my passport and driver's license. Mentally, it makes me feel better even though I'm carrying a mini computer in my hand.

I'm the same exact way. I printed my boarding pass as well, cause you never know. Thanks again!

If we are Elite ....do they give an extra incentive for the internet package ?

    Eric

As elite we gave always been given 150 internet minutes for a seven-day Cruise. But I've been spoiled with the free unlimited medallion that all last year on the Regal. I looked on the cruise personalizer they're only asking for $59.99 for an unlimited package.

  3. I hope its exciting. I did the glacier trek last year in Juneau which the most amazing and mist surreal thing I have ever done.

The one from Juneau does sound like you will get to do some things few people get to do. Hope you enjoy it.

Getting on a glacier and flying over it is something. Might be early in the year yet, but lakes form on top of the glaciers and the blues in these are fantastic.

  4. You are correct. I just did some quick research on it all. Very interesting to read, as I never knew of this. Very clever and inexpensive way. Thanks again for the tip.

I'd have to look up current prices' date=' but as I recall the cost from SEATAC to downtown was less than $5 pp, and the Uber to the cruise terminal was maybe $11 or $12 from the downtown station. Total for 2 people was about $20. Buying the pass for the light rail is very easy--the machines and the station are right at the airport (a short walk from baggage check). This was far faster than getting stuck in highway traffic between the airport and downtown, but it isn't the physically easiest way to go as you'll be handling all your own luggage.[/quote']
  5. Thanks. I will look into the sky train. I know when i did uber from sea tac to airport it was roughly $45. It was leaving they doubled the fare. lesson learned on that one. Luckily this year I have a 10am flight arrival day of.

If you are able to handle your luggage easily and want to save some money' date=' you can take the sky train to downtown and catch an Uber from there. It's a little bit of a pain, but it would save you some money over taking a taxi/uber the whole way and will definitely save time. I have less than fond memories of time spent in a traffic jam in Seattle.[/quote']
  6. Awesome! Thank you so much for your response. Last year when I did the same trip I took Uber both ways, unfortunately it cost me way more than I would have liked. I guess that's the price I get for being impatient.

Not sure how I feel about not seeing my luggage till it arrives to my room, as I am the type who always carries my own luggage on This gives me something to think about. I leave in June, so I have a month to decide.

Princess Transfer check in is all the way past baggage claim 15. You check in and wait until they fill up a bus - - or you wait for the next bus if you get there at the busy time. Once you check in for your transfer, Princess takes your luggage and you don't see it again until you get to your room. Your wait depends on how many busses they have and how many disembarking passengers from the cruise before you are coming back to the airport.

When we used Princess transfer from SEA to Canada Place last year, we arrived at 8:30 and eventually left at 10:00. It might be different for SEA to Pier 91 in SEA.

I'll report back after my Northern California Coastal on Sept 22 this year with our SEA to Pier 91 experience.

  7. If you were to pick only one while in Juneau? Would you pick the Helicopter Glacier Trek on Mendenhall Glacier? Or the Pilots Choice which fly's over various glaciers, and you a shot walk about on two of the glaciers?

I have done the trek last summer, and LOVED every second of it! Saw the Pilots Choice, figured it would change it up a bit. Does the Pilots choice come close to comparing to the Trek?

  8. We did chopper ride in Juneau last summer. Circled Mendenhall glacier and landed then went dog sledding on glacier. kids got to play with pups and ride all around with dog sled team. I have pics if you want to see them. We did zip line and rock climbing in Skagway last year.

OMG!!! The dog sledding and playing with the puppies was definitely a magnificent and wonderful memory I will forever cherish from my visit last year. I did mine in Skagway.

  9. We did the plane from talkertna landing on glacier and the helicopter from Skagway landing on glacier. First one a snow glacier , second one an ice glacier. Both amazing. Probably better scenery on the Talkeetna. Note with the helicopter u have no choice on where u sent and they don’t rotate seats (first time I have seen that)

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Thank you. I did about 5 helicopter tours last summer, in Alaska. Lucky for me I'm always the lightweight so usually I tend to get placed in the cockpit seat. Which has one of the most amazing views. I'm I'm looking forward to this excursion.

  10. We did the Princess Helicopter Tour to Mendenhall Glacier in August about ten years ago. It was wonderful. Was expensive but would repeat in an instant. There were also companies selling tours at the dock..not sure costs or safety.

We wore layers..fleece with waterproof on top. Forgot to take woolly hat and gloves but suggest you take them. Wore trainers . We were given 'over boots' by the company when we reached helicopter station.

Helicopters set off in groups of six and flew out and back together. Felt very safe even though hadn't done a helicopter tour previously.

    Enjoy.

Thank you. Flying over the glaciers in general is absolutely stunning and amazing. I'm very excited.

  11. We did the helicopter glacier excursion in Juneau years ago on the Sun....as with everyone else, it was the highlight of our cruise.

Last year I did the glacier Trek in Juno. I currently have booked the Pilots Choice Ice Age exploration looked for this summer in Juneau. Thought of possibly adding this guy on and Skagway.

  12. Don't forget the Loyalty OBC. It is based on cruise credits.

    20-30 credits = $25 OBC

    31.-40 credits = $50

    41-50 credits = $75

    51 or more = $100

Just be aware its based on which type of cabin you get as well. Normally I get $50 OBC (FCC)for my balcony. However in for my upcoming Alaskan cruise I booked an ocean view, therefore I will only receive $25 OBC for my FCC

  13. I actually for the first time ever prepaid for my upcoming Alaskan trip. Only because there was one spot left on a tour I really wanted to do. I was able to use part of my OBC. However I know I have more OBC from my travel agent which never appears on my shipboard account until I'm actually on the ship. How I look at it is my OBC for my travel agent is refundable so at least I'll eventually get that money back. Otherwise if can wait to book your excursions when you're on board the ship then I would recommend waiting.

  14. While we did not do this excursion, last year we took the Helicopter tour to the summer dog camp on the glaciers out of Skagway. It's one of the top 5 travel experiences of our lifetime. Enjoyed it so much that this year we are doing the helicopter bear search out of Juneau. You won't regret going, even at those prices.

YES!!!! I did that one as well last year. What a winter wonderland magical day that was.
