Lunch was very good and so was the “catching up” conversation. My appt went very well and got to church early. DMiL decided with the anticipated rain she should stay home. Pizza was yummy (as usual). So far no rain, but it has been overcast/cloudy. My sis from FL keeps calling, checking on our preparations. She’s watching the weather reports. I’m sure she’ll know it’s raining before I do. Good night everyone.

Good Morning. We are in a tropical storm warning, the first ever for SoCal. This is because of (Cat 4 Hurricane) Hilary. A flood watch is also in effect through Monday. Rain is expected all day Sunday. And of course the roof at work is being redone. 😨 @TiogaCruiser and @GTVCRUISER (and other SoCal Dailyites) are you ready for this storm? On the calendar today is sushi with a GF I haven’t seen in a few months. Then a personal appointment, and hopefully church. Pizza is for dinner. Hopefully I’ll be here me before the storm hits. I told my DMiL I’d take her to her Catholic Church on Sunday but she gets back today from a few days at her daughters house and might be tired. Or it might be too rainy. I go in to the office on Monday 45 min early (at 5:30am) to let the IT guy check on upgrade issues (not related to the storm). And we’ll be checking the building for leaks. I’m not understanding the ferry part. Why not take a taxi/Uber/Lyft the entire way? It only takes about 30 min. Breakfast sounds nice. I haven’t been to the Hotel Del Coronado in years.

Found this on that book page: Lahaina Banyan Tree Update: This is what Steve, the State Arborist said 8/14: He and his team have examined every trunk from top to bottom, and he sees live tissue under the bark on every trunk. They are watering the tree top to bottom daily, nourishing the soil with special compost, creating aeration, and taking soil samples. He says the tree is in a "coma" like state, and he believes that with proper care they could see signs of life within 3, 4 months. They will be listening to what the tree is saying as to what steps to do. He did sound optimistic

@marshhawk Annie, your storms are what probably caused my mom’s flight from ATL yesterday to be delayed 3 hours, and sis’ flight to ATL to be delayed and eventually cancelled. Since DS was already through security she just waited for DM at her gate. They finally got home at 2am.

DM’s flight is finally taxiing. Almost 3 hours after scheduled departure. Good night all.

Delay are now up to 2 hours 11 min. Supposedly they are waiting on a pilot. I’m praying they dont cancel the flight and try to put her up in a hotel. If they do, DS and her DH will drive to ATL to get her. 🤞🙏

DM is on the plane 👏 but there’s another delay. Total now 1 hour.

I think water from the tap (and buffet) tastes fine (better than some bottled waters! 😉). I bring a Yeti-type cup to use onboard.

Been on pins and needles this afternoon. Mom is flying home to Florida today through ATL. My sis (who she lives with) was going to meet her in ATL (DM has a 95 min layover) and fly with mom home. Well, DS’ flight to ATL got delayed and then cancelled. Hopefully the flight from ATL is not delayed too much (just got notice of 19 min delay 😳) and DM gets home OK. 🤞 Once DM is on the plane we’ll all breathe a sigh of relief. Edit: Another delay, total 36 min.

My GF is on this cruise. I was watching prices but solo was crazy high. Wishing you a great (albeit different) cruise. 🙂

Yikes! Yesterday was so busy I didn’t have time to read the Fleet Report and Daily and missed Frozen Custard Day. 🙁 I had lunch with an out-of-state friend that was traveling by my work, and worked extra long to make up for the long lunch (I have an understanding boss). But I was so sleepy after the huge meal that I probably wasn’t that productive. 🤫 When I went home I tumbled into bed for a “nap” but never got up until this morning. Going back to read Tuesday’s posts.

We were going to take my DMiL to see a movie, The Hiding Place. It’s not the 1975 film, it’s a cinematic presentation of the stage adaptation of movie. DMiL loves Corrie Ten Boom. But the CelArts leader at church texted me last night, asking if I could do media this weekend. The person that was scheduled has been in and out of the ER. DH said he’d go by himself with his mom. Hmmm, second day in a row that I’m awake at 4am and can’t fall back asleep. I’m usually an early bird but this is getting ridiculous. But at least I can do my Wordle and start reading the Fleet Report and Daily. Hopefully soon the Care list gets shorter and the Celebrations list longer. Prayers and “yippees” going out to all.
