  1. We were in a veranda cabin on Constellation back in Nov 2022. The shower had curtains.
  2. Yes, Celebrity offers a custom shorex experience branded as "Private Journeys" Here is the link: https://www.celebritycruises.com/shore-excursions/private-journeys. I don't know if OBC can be used to pay for this or not. The one disadvantage (to me) is that you will pay a pretty good mark up for something that you could arrange yourself (e.g. chartering a boat)--but I know that you are hoping to burn some OBC.
  3. Our next two cruises this year: 11 night Galapagos cruise + tour on Xpedition in November. 12 night Singapore to Hong Kong sailing on Solstice in December. My recommendation to @jules815 is to do a Europe cruise (e,g, Mediterranean) or an Australia/New Zealand sailing if you don't mind the long air travel.
  4. The answer in my opinion is that a cruise is not as good as a land vacation to experience Europe, its culture, food, etc. Having said that, my family's first introduction to Europe was a Med cruise (Venice to Barcelona)! I chose a cruise because I was looking for a low stress method of travel. To go to sleep and then wake up in the morning at a different European port is the easiest kind of travel. The big disadvantage of a cruise is that you only get a brief time to check out the port. Imagine tackling Rome from 8am - 5pm when you ship is docked an hour away! On the other hand, you get to sample a lot of ports. Sailing through the Strait of Messina on formal night, Millennium, Jun 2007 One thing to consider if your budget allows is to build a good pre-cruise and/or post-cruise travel plan. For example, my wife and I took a Transatlantic sailing out of Civitavecchia this past fall and we spent 5 very nice nights in Rome before the cruise which gave us a chance to really experience Rome at all hours of the day. In that way, you sort of get the best of both worlds. . Pantheon at 1:42 am, Oct 20 2022
  5. I learned that trick from someone on this loooong thread whom I cannot credit because I cannot remember their screen name.
  6. Infinity has not undergone a major refurbishment in some time and, according to some reports, she is really showing her age in terms of her condition. So in that way, you may not be getting the true Celebrity experience. Service and food should be very representative, however. I would not hesitate to book a good itinerary sailing on Infinity. However if I had friends who never sailed on Celebrity whom first impressions were very important, I would think twice about recommending their first cruise to be on Infinity. Infinity docked at Ushuaia, Dec 31 2016.
  7. Therefore she's been given the Panama Canal in 2024 (westward in Apr and eastward on Sep).
  8. Check under "Points History" to see if you've been credited for the Edge quiz.
  9. During our cruises the menu changed once.
  10. Celebrity's website says two Evening Chic nights. However, we have been on three 14 nighters (Southern Caribbean) and two 15 nighters (S America and westbound TA) and every one of them had 3 Evening Chic nights. 11. I always recommend that Le Petit Chef be tried once especially if you are on an M class ship where your specialty restaurant choices are very limited. Here is a short video of what was being projected onto our dinner plate--showing the "preparation" for the main course during our LPC dinner on Constellation this past fall.
  12. I am not sure what kind of details you want, but you most definitely can book a hotel for the overnight in Cabo San Lucas. We attempted to do exactly that when Solstice was anchored at Cairns, Australia in Jan 2018. I asked Guest Relations what was required from us and the answer was nothing except they appreciate being notified that you intend to be ashore for the entire evening. The Captain decided to stop all outbound tenders at 6:30 pm because of high winds and so we ended up being "stuck" aboard Solstice and were unable to make it to our hotel. For that particular port, tenders were not scheduled to run for the entire evening--I believe for safety reasons. The last outbound tender was supposed to be 9pm and the last return tender was scheduled for 10:30pm. Our upcoming Solstice cruise in December will be overnighting in Bangkok and we have a city hotel booked for the night.
  13. Based on your 9 day/8 night itinerary description, Evening Chic will most certainly be on Day 2 (Sep 17, At Sea Day #1) and Day 7 (Sep 22, At Sea Day #3).
  14. No hard and fast rule. Typically Captains Club status or suite passengers. When we sailed through Dusky, Doubtful, and Milford Sounds, Celebrity rotated 3 large groups (one group per sound) through the helipad and it clearly included more than suite and higher level Captains Club passengers.
  15. I have a 14" MBP and it does not fit in the room safe. It does not deter me from bringing it on board and leaving it out on the desk. If it's missing, it can be located with the Find My iPhone app.
  16. My wife and I started cruising Celebrity in 1996 and really liked it; we have stuck with what we liked ever since. I don't recommend that strategy for everybody. Based on what you posted, I would recommend that you give Princess a try and then maybe make your loyalty decision then (or maybe you will continue to not be beholden to one cruise line). I remember reading your post from a while ago about not liking Constellation's dark decor although that did not influence my recommendation.
  17. Thanks for the reply although it was disappointing to read that. I know you cannot judge from the outside, but the last time we saw Infinity was back in November when we (Constellation) pulled into Nassau right next to her. She looked great in the early morning light.
  18. Aren't the Canada/NE sailings all occurring while schools are in session? Or are Canadian schools on break then?
  19. I like your photos. Have a great day at St. John.
  20. I have always worn a suit including last year's Constellation TA. Our next cruise is on Xpedition, so I'll skip. For our upcoming Christmas cruise to Asia, I'll think about not bringing it.
  21. Interesting problem. You don't mention anything about your in-law's preferences--or are they just going to be along for the ride?
  22. We saw this on our last cruise, Constellation. I asked for the Event Planner and was directed to the Captains Club desk at Guest Relations which had the three headed team doing it all--Captains Club Host, Concierge, and Event Planner. What they lacked in experience, they made up for with enthusiasm. I wanted to set up a Cruise Critic luncheon for our Constellation cruise roll call members--something the Event Planner usually takes care of. The three headed Concierge Team had no idea what I was asking for (lack of experience) so I had to explain it to them. With the onboard staffing shortage, I conceded that it was probably a very big ask that it will probably be denied. One of them said that they are trained to never say "no" to a guest and that they would look into it and promised me that they would keep me up to date which they did (that's the youthful enthusiasm part). In the end they put me in contact with the MDR maitre d' and the luncheon was arranged for us.
  23. @Beach Tunes Here is a link to the actual loyalty upgrade chart as well as the entire brochure: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ouz7U8iH5IJ2Xwd3g3F7Ut_VvsW5dS0m/view?usp=drivesdk
