  1. Prince Rupert, BC. Huge container port and the railroad gateway to the east
  2. Unfortunately the later tour didn’t get the rapids, but it was a good hike.
  3. The Pommery will probably last into June/July and then be gone.
  4. So what is going on? SS is expanding its fleet and its customer base. Is this some more RCL cost cutting? It’s currently very evident on the Shadow.
  5. One of my friends in the Australian office has just been made redundant after 15+ years with Silversea. Apparently there are others. Has anyone heard about this.
  6. But apparently not in the ‘other place’ where a similar post was removed for being elitist
  7. Where? Just departed, the rain eased early and we were dry for the day. Just starting again as we sail towards Ketchikan. Apparently some of the sniffles and kennel cough onboard have turned out to be Covid. Not sure how many or whether there is more than voluntary quarantine in operation.
  8. Today in Juneau and joined by around 12,000 other cruisers!
  9. Apparently some intrepid guests braved the rain and 4 tender rides to visit our friend today. Total travel time, close to 2 hours!
  10. And what, pray, does this have to do with my thread? And btw it’s behind a firewall.
  11. Hope it snows for you. The hotel has a lovely, open log fire.
  12. Turnaround day in Seward yesterday, watched the great unwashed join the RCL Radiance of the Seas and gave thanks for being on SS. Went for a walk to find some NZ SB, poor quality and $17.99 to boot! About 50 newbies joined and the ship is chocka. Very rough last night and this afternoon we have finally had clear visibility at the Hubbard Glacier
  13. And they still are. The whites can be expensive, however there are some very good value wines amongst the reds.
  14. Supposedly it will be re-provisioned in Vancouver, just in time for all of us to get off. BTW they ran out of both of Rosés about a week ago, the only pink left is some nasty Zin type stuff.
  15. The ship has run out of everything. The coffee contains a very healthy slug of Yukon Jack.
  16. Interestingly a sports bar in downtown Kodiak has a much better choice of complimentary wines than the SS Shadow and their scallops are way off the chart better.
  17. Gorgeous day in Dutch Harbour yesterday, snow and then sunshine
  18. It’s 30F outside and pool deck is deserted apart from our little feathered Japanese stowaways, who are struggling to survive
