  1. Who is going to carry it across two other ships when you are rafted together? Who is going to carry it up the embankment? Is the person who will be riding in it able to self propel, or will they be pushed? As was mentioned in another new thread, river cruises are really not designed for those with mobility issues. EM
  2. Have been on cruisedeckplans and watched too many videos. I hate videos. People talking too much, show too many things too often. Just give me photos, and don’t forget the bathroom. Anyway, I got tubs in 11051,12182,12200,14184,14198,14202,15180, 15152, and 15169. EM
  3. She did a review/comparison of her side to side MSC and Celebrity cruises back in ?april? on the Celebrity board. Maybe she can post a link to it. EM it was in January, Silhouette Live S2S. If you click on her avatar and page back through her posts, it starts on page 13.
  4. You could do a cruise from Piraeus that visits Israel, and back in Piraeus board another ship that visits Croatia. Think outside the box. EM
  5. Oceania Nautica boarding in Haifa Oct. 6. Mein Schiff 5 from Trieste Oct. 1 Oceania Sirena from Venice Oct. 2 Oceania Marina from Trieste Oct 11 for a start Go to cruisetimetables.com and select the Israel ports from the Cruises to list. I selected Ashdod as port to visit, and October to start. Cruises to Israel and Egypt don’t visit in the very hot summer months. It will tel you who calls there and their itineraries. EM
  6. Their website should tell you that. For US departures it used to be that you had to be checked in and onboard two hours before scheduled departure. I need to go check, as I am sailing next month. EM i just pulled this off the MSC website, from the Before You Go section:
  7. There are a number of destinations that are a distance from the actual port. Berlin and Venice also come to mind, Florence… When doing research for excursions, visit the Ports of Call boards here. But I also recommend you get a copy of Rick Steves’ Mediterranean Cruise Ports. It’s in third or fourth edition. He took his expertise in budget touring in Europe and applied it to cruising. He tells you what there is to do in the port, how to do it, and how much you can do in the time available. He also has one for Scandinavian and Northern Europe ports. On his website he has free audio tours you can download to your device and basic maps you can print out. In researching other cruise travel books, I see there are a couple other reputable authors with cruise port guides, but not having read or used them, I am wary of recommending them. If you have a large bookstore in your area you might go and browse to see what might suit you best. For some ports the cruise line will offer an ‘on your own’ tour, where they will transport you to a central point and give you a fixed amount of time to do your own touring. This is often offered for Florence. Once you have booked your cruise, go to the ROLL CALL section here and see if there is a roll call for your sailing. That’s where you can connect with other CC members cruising with you, and they will be forming groups for independent tours. EM having
  8. We need input from people who have sailed Seashore as to whether any have been surprised with a tub. Maybe they stopped using them after Seaside. But in any event, you will not find them in any cabin for more than two. The size of the tub changes the configuration of the bathroom, taking up more cabin space, so on the Fantasia class the cabin does not have a couch, only a plush chair. On Seaside, the cabins have a loveseat. EM
  9. If you carefully peruse the deck plans, the cabins with bathtubs have a tiny B on the diagram. And they only hold two. caution: I see the B on plans for Divina and Seaside, but not on other ships. And Divina does not have them all, as we were in 8114 which had a tub, but has no B. So I guess there is no firm answer…. This is from cruisedeckplans.com. Fantasia class all have them marked.EM
  10. What state is she from? Are you sure it is an enhanced license, not RealID license? Does she know the difference? EM
  11. Perhaps not looking so good this morning as she hit the pier while docking. EM
  12. I googled and found a brief mention on abc7 website. EM
  13. By racing to Rome Termini to get the express to Venice, he wouldn’t see much of Rome anyway. EM
  14. You aren’t the first to fear flying, and there are others who cannot fly for medical reasons. It just takes a lot more planning. Getting from one continent to another is the first hurdle, but once there don’t limit yourself to cruising. Seeing another country/continent by rail/bus/car can be very fulfilling. And there are members on these boards who do it. As long as you can afford it, the world is your oyster, as they say. EM
  15. No, mini suites do not get suite perks. They are just larger cabins that cost more. EM
  16. Armonia sails from Marghera for Venice. EM
  17. Are you looking at Constellation arriving Civitavecchia on Oct 21, and Armonia leaving ‘Venice’ the same day? I think MSC uses both Trieste and Marghera for Venice. But if those are the dates, and you really want the second cruise, why not leave Connie the day before in La Spezia and take the train to Venice from there? And board Armonia the next day…EM
  18. Yes, I have heard they do that. People have also rented hospital beds. EM
  19. It might fit through the door if they take the back off, the way they come. Depending on how large it is. My ladies recliner would fit. However, where in the cabin would you put it? Space is premium. Doubt they could remove the couch. I think you would need a fully accessible cabin to have the space. EM
  20. Ask on the Ports of Call board for Italy as to where a bus would pick up. I suspect it is either Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto. Since there aren’t land taxis, it would be a water taxi. EM
  21. Depending on how adventurous you are, you could hop your way around Europe on cruise ferries. They are as large as some of the smaller cruise ships, have small basic cabins, sail at night, dock in the morning. They have several restaurants, shops, it sure about casinos…. You could sail from one city to another…for instance, Oslo to Kiel. Explore the city, maybe ray a day or two, hop another ferry or a train to another city. You can do this in Northern Europe, and all over the Med. Not luxury, it it would be adventure. EM
  22. But I found Piraeus port to be fascinating, with all the cargo ships and huge ferries. EM
  23. I don’t think that would work…it’s possible that when you enter those areas, they would ask to see your card, which would not show eligibility for those areas. If the swapped bracelet did, scanning it would not show the correct picture. EM
  24. There aren’t t ships that do a continual world cruise. Many cruise lines have one ship that does an annual world cruise (although Cunard usually has all three ships on different routes). Those cruises usually start just after New Years and last 100+ days. Some people lengthen their cruising with back to back (B2B) sailings, sometimes several in a row. Or they get off in the end port and get on another ship, sometimes from a different line. There are items that you have to consider when taking a long cruise: medications, doc/dental appts, mail, laundry, filing taxes…. Unfortunately not everything can be done online yet. There is a board here for World Cruising located back on the main boards page (scroll down) under Spacial Interest Cruising. Happy researching and planning. Unfortunately cruise lines sell cabins on a double occupancy basis. Finding a reasonable solo fare is not easy these days. Some lines don’t even want solos. EM
