  1. Hello everyone. The WiFi is back—for how long, I don’t know. Thank you to Sandi and Vanessa for your thoughts. Yes, i plan to give Hargray a piece of my mind. The problem is that Hargray contracts with the community as the exclusive provider and you then do not have a choice. Spectrum is in the area but they will not service you if Hargray has an exclusive contract. Hargray is very expensive, but getting a dish is the only other choice,. However, one drop of rain and the dish goes out. Not very good choices. Hargray knows they are a monopoly and they really don’t care if you have service or not. You can yell and scream all you want and they will just do as they please. I would like to call them a few names but this is a public forum and I don’t want to get sued. Just so you understand what Hargray is. The “Leader in LowCountry Comunications!” Terri
  2. Sandi, I started to fill out the survey when the service dropped again. I don’t want to call them right now because I just don’t have time for them to show up in my house. This has been going on for about a week.
  3. Good morning, Thank you Sandi @StLouisCruisers for stepping in and taking care of the Daily and Fleet Report while Rich and Jacqui are cruising. Thank you to Roy @rafinmd for the Maps and to Vanessa @JazzyV for the Cares and Celebrations report. Prayers for all on the cares list and a big shoutout to those with something to celebrate and hoping that those who are cruising are having a wonderful time. Thank you to Dixie @summer slope for the cocktail recipe. I will pass on that as I do not drink beer. Never did and probably never will. Thank you in advance to Debbie @dfish for the recipe and Ann @cat shepard for the wine of the day. Not sure yet if we will partake of those. We have not been to Akita, Japan. Interesting quote. I hope that today I will be able to finish up my packing and then try to help DH with his. I see a bit of confusion on his end. We will get it done and be ready to leave on Wednesday. The good thing about Wednesday is that we don’t have a time limit. We just have to get ourselves to Jacksonville. We fly out on Thursday so that is a good thing. Nothing else to report today. I better post this before Hargray knocks me off again. I cannot believe I have to pay for this terrible service. Yesterday they had the nerve to send me a survey about their service. I was not even able to finish it before getting knocked off the internet. Anyway, prayers for all and hope everyone has a great day. God Bless, Terri
  4. Sorry for not answering sooner. Actually I had to use my BCBS FEP on my last cruise. I fell while on a private shore excursion and received treatment on the ship. I sent the invoice from the ship medical center to BSBC FEP and was reimbursed for all but the $30 co pay. No problems. They accepted the ship invoice with no problems. Terri
  5. Good morning to all. Thank you Sandi for stepping up and filling in for Rich and Jacqui. Thanks also to Roy and Vanessa. And also thanks to Debbie, Ann and Dixie in the Food and Beverae Department. I like the quote. I have not been to Malaysia. Right now we have Internet service so I am taking advantage of it. I am not sure if this is area wide or if we need a new modem. However, we are leaving in a few days and I do not have time to schedule a home visit from Hargray. These are busy days. We leave on Wednesday for Jacksonville and will stay overnight. We fly on Thursday afternoon to Charlotte and then non-stop to Rome. So glad we do not have a lay-over in Heathrow this time. That is my least favorite airport. I always have some sort of a negative experience there. So today I have a hair appointment and then will be busy in the packing department. Jim thanks all of you for the lovely birthday wishes yesterday. We had a very nice birthday dinner last night with a small Carvel Ice Cream Cake. There is enough left over for today and tomorrow. As far as I can see, All is in order and we are going to be good to go. DH seems to be in good shape and eager to do the trip. Hope everyone has a good day. God Bless, Terri
  6. We have had a few more outages this morning and early afternoon including the TV signal. Just to post and tell you all that Jim appreciates all the wonderful Birthday wishes. I am afraid that if I try to name you all I will lose connection. So it will have to suffice that I group you all together. We feel truly blessed. Terri
  7. LET US NOT FORGET! Paul Revere’s Ride By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow LISTEN, my children, and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere, On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five; Hardly a man is now alive Who remembers that famous day and year. He said to his friend, “If the British march By land or sea from the town to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch Of the North Church tower as a signal light, — One, if by land, and two, if by sea; And I on the opposite shore will be, Ready to ride and spread the alarm Through every Middlesex village and farm, For the country folk to be up and to arm.” Then he said, “Good night!” and with muffled oar Silently rowed to the Charlestown shore, Just as the moon rose over the bay, Where swinging wide at her moorings lay The Somerset, British man-of-war; A phantom ship, with each mast and spar Across the moon like a prison bar, And a huge black hulk, that was magnified By its own reflection in the tide. Meanwhile, his friend, through alley and street, Wanders and watches with eager ears, Till in the silence around him he hears The muster of men at the barrack door, The sound of arms, and the tramp of feet, And the measured tread of the grenadiers, Marching down to their boats on the shore. Then he climbed the tower of the Old North Church, By the wooden stairs, with stealthy tread, To the belfry-chamber overhead, And startled the pigeons from their perch On the sombre rafters, that round him made Masses and moving shapes of shade, — By the trembling ladder, steep and tall, To the highest window in the wall, Where he paused to listen and look down A moment on the roofs of the town, And the moonlight flowing over all. Beneath, in the churchyard, lay the dead, In their night-encampment on the hill, Wrapped in silence so deep and still That he could hear, like a sentinel’s tread, The watchful night-wind, as it went Creeping along from tent to tent, And seeming to whisper, “All is well!” A moment only he feels the spell Of the place and the hour, and the secret dread Of the lonely belfry and the dead; For suddenly all his thoughts are bent On a shadowy something far away, Where the river widens to meet the bay, — A line of black that bends and floats On the rising tide, like a bridge of boats. Meanwhile, impatient to mount and ride, Booted and spurred, with a heavy stride On the opposite shore walked Paul Revere. Now he patted his horse’s side, Now gazed at the landscape far and near, Then, impetuous, stamped the earth, And turned and tightened his saddle-girth; But mostly he watched with eager search The belfry-tower of the Old North Church, As it rose above the graves on the hill, Lonely and spectral and sombre and still. And lo! as he looks, on the belfry’s height A glimmer, and then a gleam of light! He springs to the saddle, the bridle he turns, But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight A second lamp in the belfry burns! A hurry of hoofs in a village street, A shape in the moonlight, a bulk in the dark, And beneath, from the pebbles, in passing, a spark Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet: That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light, The fate of a nation was riding that night; And the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight, Kindled the land into flame with its heat. He has left the village and mounted the steep, And beneath him, tranquil and broad and deep, Is the Mystic, meeting the ocean tides; And under the alders that skirt its edge, Now soft on the sand, now loud on the ledge, Is heard the tramp of his steed as he rides. It was twelve by the village clock, When he crossed the bridge into Medford town. He heard the crowing of the *****, And the barking of the farmer’s dog, And felt the damp of the river fog, That rises after the sun goes down. It was one by the village clock, When he galloped into Lexington. He saw the gilded weathercock Swim in the moonlight as he passed, And the meeting-house windows, blank and bare, Gaze at him with a spectral glare, As if they already stood aghast At the bloody work they would look upon. It was two by the village clock, When he came to the bridge in Concord town. He heard the bleating of the flock, And the twitter of birds among the trees, And felt the breath of the morning breeze Blowing over the meadows brown. And one was safe and asleep in his bed Who at the bridge would be first to fall, Who that day would be lying dead, Pierced by a British musket-ball. You know the rest. In the books you have read, How the British Regulars fired and fled, — How the farmers gave them ball for ball, From behind each fence and farm-yard wall, Chasing the red-coats down the lane, Then crossing the fields to emerge again Under the trees at the turn of the road, And only pausing to fire and load. So through the night rode Paul Revere; And so through the night went his cry of alarm To every Middlesex village and farm, — A cry of defiance and not of fear, A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door, And a word that shall echo forevermore! For, borne on the night-wind of the Past, Through all our history, to the last, In the hour of darkness and peril and need, The people will waken and listen to hear The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed, And the midnight message of Paul Revere.
  8. Good morning all. I am writing fast because I have had internet problems for the last two days. I have no idea if they are resolved or not. I just know that I have been unable to use the internet for last few days for any length of time. Today is DH’s birthday and we will celebrate it at home. While our original plans were to go out to dinner, we have a big golf tournament going on here and I am sure reservations are hard to come by and service is not the best. All is well and I will post when Hargray permits me to do so. God Bless, Terri
  9. Good evening to all, Thank you all for the good wishes for my meeting with the Certified Dementia Practioner. It was a very beneficial experience. She gave me a lot of good information and plenty of helpful hints. She is going to put me in touch with a few other people to give me more help. I was very grateful for all her help. Also very grateful for all your well wishes. Tomorrow is Anita’s funeral at 10 am. DH told me that he does not feel up to going. I am saddened by this, especially since Anita’s late husband and mine were High School classmates. They were very influential in us moving to this area and very helpful to us after we moved here. I don’t want to push him too much so I will go by myself. I think I can make an adequate excuse for his absence. It really will not matter much since i do not know Anita’s brothers or their family and they do not know DH. All in all, I was very grateful for my experience today. Thank you all again. Terri
  10. Good morning to all Dailyites this beautiful Monday morning. I remember the victims of the Boston Marathon in 2013 and what a horrific event that was. I will not celebrate McDonalds. I feel their food is mostly unhealthy and it would be a cold day in hell before I step inside one of their stores. Three cheers for ASL and a wonderful method of communicating with those who are hearing impaired. I have not been to Manzanillo, Mexico. I will take a pass on the meal and drink, but will think about the wine. i will start to get my clothes ready to pack today, laying them out on the bed in the spare bedroom. I am going to pack lightly and make use of laundry service at the various hotels where we will be staying. This afternoon I will be meeting with a Certified Dementia Practitioner. She runs a support group that I attend monthly. However, I have yet to meet her. This is a one-on-one session to get some understanding of Jim’s diagnosis. Also about legal issues and other pertinent issues on which I need some guidance. Sounds like a good place to start. Hope everyone has a great day. @StLouisCruisers prayers for your twin sister as she has her surgery for rotator cuff tear. Hope it goes well. Prayers for everyone on the cares list. Cheers for all that are celebrating and cruising. God Bless, Terri
  11. Hello everyone. It is already Monday morning and I am just getting around to posting. It was a weird kind of day. DH did not have a good day, which means neither did I. It got better as the day progressed. Lots of time wasted that could have been productive. I like t laugh and I like dolphins. Don’t have an ex—Thank God. I like the quote. I will pass on the meal and the libations. I have not been to Hiroshima. Thank you to Jacqui, Roy, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann and Dixie for your dedication to the thread. Prayers for all on the cares list and Cheers to those celebrating and cruising. @LAFFNVEGAS Bon Voyage! Lunch looks delicious. I, for one, would be happy to see your reports from NCL’s Haven. Have a wonderful cruise. Hope everyone has a restful night. Good night and God Bless, Terri
  12. Thank you all for the kind condolences on the passing of my friend Anita. Her funeral is at 10 am on Tuesday on Hilton Head. We will attend the Mass. More later. Getting ready for my cleaning lady. Terri
  13. My condolences, Bruno. You were very good to your Dad and I am sure he is smiling down on you from heaven. God Bless, Terri
  14. Good evening my friends. I will make this short. While yesterday was a happy day for us in that we received good news from Jim’s neurologist, today we received very sad news. My friend Anita, who had her kidney removed on March 11, passed away on March 27. Her funeral is Tuesday, April 16. I only found out about it today. It makes me so sad. I never found out what hospital she was in or was able to get in touch with anyone who knew anything. Her obituary was in the newspaper today. Please keep her in your prayers. Thanks Terri
  15. Hello everyone, Just a quick update. All went well at the Neurologist. He feels that DH is doing well and medication remains the same. Follow-up in 6 months. Told us to have a great trip. If there is any problem prior to leaving to give him a call. I really like this doctor. He listens and is very willing to answer any questions. He pays attention to questions from both of us. Thank you all for your kind comments and prayers. It really means a lot. I feel good about the trip to Italy and feel that we can go ahead without a lot of anxiety, taking one day at a time. We just got back and going to have some lunch. Thanks again. Terri
  16. Good morning to all, Thank you all for all the well wishes for DH’s appointment today. It is a terribly rainy and thunderous day here. At 5:30 am I was jolted out of bed by a clap of thunder so loud that the house shook. The whole back yard is flooded and so is the the golf course. There are reports that some roads are flooded as well. We will find a way to get to the Neurologist. DH wants to cancel. i say “NO WAY!” We were supposed to run other errands after the Doc visit. However, those will wait until the sun shines tomorrow. At least that is what is promised. I will report back later. Have to get ready. More later. God Bless, Terri
  17. Good evening everyone. I know it is late and I have not read the posts. I will do so later or tomorrow. Just wanted to ask that you keep us in your prayers tomorrow. DH has an appointment with the Neurologist for his 3 month appointment. Don’t know what to expect and hope he does not put the kabash on the Italy trip. DH seems to be doing okay from what I can see. Will be interested in what the Doc says. More tomorrow. Thank you all for your support and prayers. Prayers for all of you. God Bless, Terri
  18. Good morning to all Dailyites. Happy Tuesday. Not much to report today. At least, not yet. Got up really early, Couldn’t sleep anymore. Thank you to Jacqui, Vanessa, Roy, Debbie, Dixie and Ann for your contributions to keep this thread going. I will pass on the meal and drink (I’m on the wagon these days—Doc’s orders) Although I have been to Alaska, I have not been to Denali. Don’t think I will get there. Prayers for all on the Cares list (thank you Vanessa for keeping DH on the rotation) Cheers to those celebrating and cruising. @ger_77 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! @luvteaching HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope everyone has a great day. God Bless, Terri
  19. Good morning, or what is left of it. Happy Monday. Thank you to Jacqui, Vanessa, Roy, Debbie, Ann and Dixie for their dedication and contributions to this thread. Prayers for all especially those celebrating special days. @StLouisCruisers Happy Birthday to you and your twin @Norseh2oHappy Birthday to you @ottahand7 Happy Anniversary @erewhon Happy Anniversary. I hope you all enjoy your special day. We do not have much planned for today. Need to get some things done around the house and work on some finances. We are not in the direct path of the eclipse but I understand that we will be able to see a partial view between 2 pm and 4 pm. Don’t have the special glasses and don’t know where to get them. So I guess we will watch it on TV instead. Have a great day everyone and God Bless, Terri
  20. Vanessa, I am sorry you have to go through so much with the RA. I guess I should consider myself lucky that it is PMR and hopefully run its course and be over soon. That is my reasoning for not starting the Kevzara. I wish you all the best with he medication and the surgery. Terri
  21. Good Sunday afternoon, Thank you to Jacqui for the Fleet Report and Dialy and to Roy for the Maps. It took me more than an hour to get through all the posts. I never did catch up on all I missed while I was AWOL. Guess I will just have to wing it. Thank you Vanessa for the Cares and Celebrations Lists. I admire how meticulous you are in keeping track of all of us. Thank you for caring about me in my absence. I was just in a bad place. Trying to work myself back into a better one. Thank you to the F&B department—Debbie, Ann and Dixie. Thank you to Graham @grapau27for Father David’s Hoily and also for your lovely photos. It looks like you had a nice cruise and I hope it lifted Pauline’s spirits. I echo the others in wondering where you two put all that food. I couldn’t get away with a quarter of that. I hope that the cruise helped Pauline feel better after the passing of Sarah’s father. Today has been a good day so far. The GI problems are better. DH is having a good day and it is a beautiful sunny day. I went food shopping and did a few things around the house. I just wish my right shoulder and arm would feel better, it is just about useless. This is a busy week. We have the HVAC people coming on Wednesday for the 6 month service, then on Thursday, Jim sees the Neurologist. Saturday, my cleaners come back (oh, happy day!) and we have to start packing for our trip. I really think it will happen. DH seems to be in a better place than last October, Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that we can pull it off, @Vict0riann and @Overhead FredBon Voyage! Hope you have a wonderful time. @smitty34877 Prayers for Tana and for you and your whole family. I hope Tana’s crisis is over. What a wonderful young man you have in ‘Tana’s son. @JazzyVI hope the surgery works. It is interesting that you are on Kevzara. That was an option for me as an alternative to Prednisone when i saw the Rheumatologist. I declined. I am hoping to be off of Prednisone by in six months. If that does not work, then I will reconsider Kevzara. As for the meal, I like potato salad in most forms as long as there are no peppers in it. I have been to Costa Maya most recently on our last cruise on the beautiful Oceania Vista. We spent the day at the Maya Chan Beach Club and had a great time. @Seasick Sailor prayers for Allen. @aliaschief great photos. Sounds Ike you are having a great time. Prayers for everyone. God Bless, Terri
  22. Good afternoon everyone. I want to make sure i post everyday so that i don’t fall into a habit of not posting and having people look up whether I have posted on another thread. I do appreciate that you all were concerned about me. I continue to have GI problems and hope they resolve soon. I sure want to feel better before we take off for three weeks, Thank you to Jacqui, Roy, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann and Dixie for your dedication to this thread. There is a reason why I don’t volunteer to fill in. I am not very reliable. I like rotisserie chicken. However, when I can get it a $5.00 a pop at the supermarket, I am not going to spend the time and energy to make it. Both Kroger’s and Publix have small ones and Sam’s has bigger ones at the same price. I have not been to the port. As for Charlie the Tuna, I am a Bumble Bee fan and more recently, buy my tuna at Costco, which I believe is actually the Bumble Bee brand. As for Twinkies, they were never my favorite. I usually found Hostess Cup Cakes in my lunch box, Chocolate with the squiggle on top. I probably wouldn’t eat one now. Welcome back to all who returned from the Grand Australia cruise. It sounds like you had a grand time. Prayers for all on the cares list and Cheers to those celebrating and cruisning. Have a great Saturday—what’s left of it. God Bless, Terri
  23. Thank you all for the hearty welcome back. Feels good to be back. Terri
