  1. Thanks good to know that it is good for lunch. I know exactly where you mean. It does look like a nice place, unfortunately it was closed when we tried to go once - will have to try again! I don't know if all the buildings in that group belong to one facility but the first two after the lighthouse used to belong to Albertos for a while.

All buildings belong to the municipal goverment and are rented by private persons, thats why Alberto´s was there, the unoffical name of the facility is "caletita" I think it means small harbour, and that becuz the entrance to the ocean (beside the lighthouse) looks like that, easy to get into the ocean, I dont know why but on weekdays you dont see many people, but on saturdays & sundays when the weather is hot, the place is pack of local families with children as the ocean is crystal clear, the bottom turns deeper gradualy, looks almost like a pool, is very nice and safe to play in the water and the place is short walking or moped distance from town

  2. I'm not sure what the RCCL excursion is about but there is no Jose Cuervo FACTORY (nor distillery, proper term for these) on Cozumel. There is a "Tequilla Factory" but it is primarily a retail boutique that offers some information and videos on how tequila is made (must be made in Jalisco and some small areas surrounding that state, to be called tequila) and it sells only one brand of tequila, Cava Antigua.

There are several places around that offer tequila tastings and show how tequila is made. Mr. Sanchos, Chankanaab Park, Casa Mission, et.al.. Perhaps one of these places is where your excursion is heading.

tequila Jose Cuervo tour takes place at Discover Mexico, I thing they made and arrangement becuz Jose Cuervo put a big logo sign at the entrance of discover mexico, but as you say it is not a factory. they sell Cuervo but the factory/destillery is in Jalisco

you can read reviews about Jose Cuervo tequila tour at tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g150809-d154079-Reviews-Discover_Mexico_Cozumel_Park-Cozumel_Yucatan_Peninsula.html

  3. Would you mind sharing where to find this info? Thanks

As far as I know, there's not a site where you can get this information (accurately) but here in Cozumel we know by experience that ships from Royal Caribbean, MSC, AIDA and Carnival arrive and dock at the island using the same time zone as the port where they departed from, while Norwegian, Disney and a few other cruise lines match island local time (CST).

  4. We have done the ruins quite easily on our own.

There was a 2x$4 charge pp (paid in two lots) for entry to the ruins, although I think someone reported recently that had gone up $1 or 2 but the search engine on this forum is down and I cannot find the post.

you are right, since January 1st entry fee to San Gervasio ruins rose from $8 to $9.50 pp($5 + $4.50)

  5. But here's the problem... RCI's website shows us arriving at 10am (we cruise in June FWIW). So is the website showing local time or ET (we cruise from PC)?

to know for sure U need to tell the name of the ship and the departure cruise port

  6. Do all the ships stay on EST?

So if we are supposed to be in Coz from 7 to 5, is that ship's time or local time? Don't want to miss the ship cuz I'm off by an hour!!!!

depends which cruise ship is, as there are ships who match local Cozumel central time and some do not

  7. Where are the paddleboard rentals located on Cozumel? How do we get there from the cruise port? What is the cost and time of rental? Thanks for your help!

there is a paddleboarding at Ha Haak (Mr Sancho´s beach and other 2 locations) here is their site with all the info

  8. Thanks, I'll see what she says. I think that since my friend says she wants to ask a lot of questions, we'll definitely end up with a better situation than if we went with a bus tour.

I found a couple of interesting relatively cheap places for lunch in TripAdvisor, Burritos Gorditos and Diego's (the latter is apparently near the airport). Strangely, Sofia said she had not heard of Burritos Gorditos, which seems odd since it's rated #1 in TripAdvisor. She did say that the driver could suggest someplace if we wanted. I've read many posts where people said they go to Pancho's Backyard but it seems more touristy and expensive than I'd like.

I have never been in Burritos Gorditos but they have a facebook page

  9. No. There is no pharmacy per se' The one mentioned above is in a grocery/souvenir type store.

there is a real and very good pharmacy at Calle 7 between Melgar (waterfront) and 5th avenue, is located just one block from Punta Langosta mall/pier, aside from the post mail office, the name is Dori, is a small branch from a big pharmacy at downtown/market area, so if they dont have the medicine you are looking for, they call to the main office and a delivery boy will bring it in about 15 minutes or less time, but to go to this pharmacy you will need to take a taxi from Puerta Maya pier

  10. Princess doesn't dock in town. I know where the pharmacy is there. Not sure of the name of the dock where Princess "lands," but it's been the same one for quite some time.

Princess ships dock at Puerta Maya as you can see in this PM Calendar

    http://www.puertamaya.com/port-schedule.aspx

    PM info at the website

Puerta Maya’s expansive cruise center houses over 50 different outlets offering apparel, fine jewelry, artwork and other merchandise from such recognizable retailers as Milano Jewelers, Del Sol, Piranha Joe’s, Dufry, and Diamonds International. The facility also features 15 stand-alone carts where local merchants market colorful handmade crafts, costume jewelry and souvenirs.Other retail outlets at Puerta Maya include a pharmacy, convenience store, and international pay phones

  11. Hmm... I wonder what happened to Kletina's post. It contained a reference to a lionfish story (in Spanish) with recipes from Casa Mission and two other restaurants. That's what prompted me to ask about La Mission.

Anyway, I think we will probably still go to La Choza. Who knows? They might have a lionfish special that day. One can hope.

I dont know what happend with my post about la mision

I just call to la Choza tel 987-872-0958 to ask about the lion fish and they dont offer it, the girl who answered the phone, told me that the only 2 places are la Perlita and at el mercado in a Filipinas style restaurante where a lot of ship crew members ussualy eat

  12. Thanks for the scoop. We're on the Dawn the last week of January and haven't picked our excursion yet. Will check out the tour operator you listed. I can just Google him I presume?

yes, just google toursplaza dot com and you can check it

  13. I looked at the Cozumel port schedule for this week and it has the NA at Puerta Maya. I am surprised at this as in the past HAL has docked at the downtown pier. Kinda messes up the plans to just walk to downtown when we are there two weeks from now.

Is this their normal docking position now? I guess I better just make plans for either docking position.

lets see if I can explain.....Carnival Corporation owns HAL and Carnivals Puerta Maya has two slots to dock ships, so if on the date your ship is at Cozumel there is only one other Carnival ship at port, HAL ship will take the 2nd slot and will dock at Puerta Maya, but if there are 2 or more Carnival ships, both slots will be occupied so HAL will dock at Punta Langosta downtown pier.

  14. My husband and I would like to visit Hacienda Antigua on our visit to Cozumel. What is the best way to tour it? Is there a good tour or taxi company that can take us there, or is there a specific Carnival excursion that goes there? We'd prefer going on our own, rather than take an excursion, because we have some other favorite stops in Coz too. Also, is it possible to order a larger quantity at the factory to be shipped home?

you can get a taxi at the pier and he will wait for you if you want

I called Hacienda Antigua to ask and was told that they don't send packages but that they've had clients who arrive by cruise ship that have taken up to 5 boxes (of 6 bottle each) and that once they get to the homeport they pay the corresponding taxes at customs.

If you want more information, you may contact them at (987) 113 6509 and ask for Perla or to her e-mail perlacoz at hotmail dot com

  15. Does anyone know if there is an 8am ferry from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen & a 4pm ferry back from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel?

There doesn't seem to be one listed on the ferry information I could find.

    Thanks for any help ;)

spanish speaking person will be very helpfull also

  17. Anyone know of a free Wifi hotspot or cafe with Free Wifi in Cozmuel?

there is an asian restaurant (dont remember the name, has big glass windows and you will see everyone with thier laptops in the tables) in front of Puerta Maya pier, there is a Starbucks at Punta Langosta mall / pier

  18. My family visited Nachi Cocom in Cozumel Friday, November 22 and left my camera in the taxi when we were dropped off. I would like to reach out for any assistance in finding it. We came off the Carnival Sunshine, my camera is a red Lumix and contains all of our memories from our vacation. I do not know how to contact the taxi providers there in Cozumel to inquire so any assistance in that regard is greatly appreciated. I have emailed Nachi, but please let me know if you have any other suggestions. I know it's very unlikely that it will be returned but I have to try.

    Thanks in advance!

If you dont remember the taxi number, will be helpfull if you can tell them the type of vehicle (car or Van) the time you took the taxi at Nachi (in Cozumel central time)

  19. you can find hammocks at almost any mexican craft store, for good prices check stores off Melgar avenue in dowmtown area, if you plan to use it inside your house, ask for a nice cotton double size (for 2 persons) hammock, it will cost about 60 to 80 dls, if you want it for garden or outside use, can check for a nylon double size about 40 to 60 dls

  20. Hello fellow cruisers. Cruising on Elation in Jan. going to Cozumel and Progreso . Was wondering if they sell Hennessy White at either port. Trying to surprise my daughter with it , she will be returning from Africa from her second tour . Has been in Air Force 16 years . So proud of her . Her and her husband took a cruise before she left , they went to Turks and Caicos , they found it there and really enjoyed it . Because it is not sold in the US . I thought I would surprise her when she returns in Jan. Thanks for your help

maybe you can check at La Europea website (prices are in pesos), they sell almost all type and brands of liquors & wines, this store is at Melgar ave in front of MargaritaVille
