  1. Caribbean in June = Fairly Hot The Caribbean is popular in the summers, with school teachers. lol
  2. Not so. The cruise pier was financed by CCL. Source: cruisehive December 16, 2021 " The Grand Turk Cruise Center (GTCC) is financed and operated by Carnival Corporation. While the cruise line would have liked to return earlier, Mardi Gras has been scheduled here on December 7; some work still needed to be carried out to ensure the island was 100% ready to receive guests again safely. Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line: “We are delighted to bring Carnival Freedom back to Grand Turk and to offer our guests the opportunity to experience all of this port’s beauty once again. On behalf of Carnival, I would like to thank the Turks and Caicos Islands Government and all our partners on the ground in Grand Turk for working with us to make this opportunity possible.”
  3. Heard right/ Heald right. Got it? Several others here got it.
  4. I didn't say they have to clean the cabin. The OP said: "I know some hotels in Vegas need to have housekeeping "check" the room every 3 days." I informed the OP a steward will check with at least one guest per cabin daily.
  5. Carnival has a "welfare check " policy which requires the cabin steward to check in personally with at least one guest in each cabin daily.
  6. Like I said, they use them in the dining room as well.
  7. Would you please stop by the thread on favorite buffet foods in case you would care to weigh in again on the liquid versus powder eggs subject? It is on page 4 of the thread and currently the last post. Thank you
  8. No, incorrect. The liquid unshelled egg yolks and whites arrive to the ships packed in a plastic bag inside a plastic pail or box with a tight lid. The plastic bag holds 5 gallons of liquid, pasteurized eggs. This is the same product used to make the omelets in the lido and MDR. The retired maritime chief engineer on this site (chengkp75) has weighed in on this topic in the past.
  9. Now you do know those are liquid, pasteurized eggs and people only call them powdered, right?
  10. Name the port and sailing date. Enquiring minds want to know.
  11. It's not even that and here's the photos from Panorama to prove it. Notice the thickening agent is carrageenan which is used to make some glues.
  12. Well yes, you can see the ice granules on it. 😞 I don't go near those machines but you can't keep me away from the gelato on Vista Class ships. Gelato is more dense with concentrated flavors than ice cream and less fat, too. 🙂
  13. Yes to the iciness of the products. I was told it's not the product that is the issue but the high volume demand that makes them chill the product faster that causes the ice crystals. I won't touch the stuff anymore, no longer creamy.
  14. When prepared correctly the gelato on the Vista Class ships is amazing.
  15. In all 9 of our cruises aboard Panorama since January we never missed dinner on Thursday night in the Lido Marketplace when freshly roasted whole turkeys were carved to order. The meat is always succulent and tender.
  16. You're quite right, I was thinking of Ecstasy. Thank you
  17. Instead of Sunday go to meeting attire think Tuesday leftovers night with the kids at the kitchen table attire.
  18. I sailed both ships 4 times out of Long Beach. Sadly, they are in the photo I posted above.
  19. COVID advanced the scrapping schedule by 2 years at most. Two of these ships were built after the Elation. They are old and cost more to keep in service and they have fewer berths and thus are no longer profitable.
  20. Here are 3 of the Elation's sister ships in the scrap yard at Alang, Turkey. A picture is worth a thousand words.
  21. I heard a comic on Carnival say that Carnival only stops at Freeport to make Nassau look good. He got a huge, knowing laugh from the crowd.
  22. This is nothing new, many card issuers do this and have for many years.
