  1. Patti...thank you for the update!

Why do you think classic isn't working out? Is the no-shows? You get that with traditional dining too, so I don't see why no-shows would cause RCL to twitch to traditional.

There's got to be some major reason RCL would abandon DD choice/classic combo when the ship's restaurants are designed specifically around the DD concept. So curious....

  2. I'm signed up for classic 1 on our April 8th Anthem sailing. After reaching out ~2.5 weeks ago, I've just received confirmation that our classic time will be at 5:30 (even though our documents say 6 PM) at a 4-top.

I won't complain, I'm thrilled they've honored our request for a 4-top alone, and looking forward to rotational dining through the 4 restaurants, with the same waiter each night.

  3. Other than using all 4 restaurants instead of 2 each, What is the difference between DD Classic & Traditional, and DD choice & MTD anyway? Is it just semantics?

I realize classic is rotational and traditional you stay put in one restaurant the entire cruise. Is that the only difference?

Is MTD any different than DD choice other than they'll be using 2 restaurants instead of 4?

  4. It wasn't easy on the Allure, except the main dining room. I tried explaining to the RCCL rep that Dynamic Dining Classic is preferable for his safety, but they didn't understand and just told me there is a long wait list. I'm going to carry on lots of safe food and hope for the best.

Try reaching out to Special Needs dept and plead your case for classic dining with them. You may have better luck there!

  5. It's odd. The food there is great but I have never seen the solarium bistro more than half full for dinner on anthem, even back when it was devinly decadence.

In that case, I wonder if a "classic" diner can show up at SB for dinner one night without a reservation, and be seated?

Our San Juan port call is 3-11 pm so it's unlikely we will be able to make our classic early seating that night. I'm wondering if they will allow us to dine at solarium bistro later on, instead.

  6. Many years ago we had port call in San Juan. We pulled out mid afternoon and then stopped and we're told we were waiting for some passengers who missed the ship. Of course we all rushed to watch who it was. 2 15 yo teens! The pilot boat brought them out. Figured that after the parents hugged them, they gave them a piece of their minds, of course don't know why they were on shore by themselves.

Wow! I'm surprised they didn't kick a parent off the ship (to take charge of the missing 15 year olds) before setting off on-time.

  7. Years ago on cruise critic, I read of a couple who was late to the pier and the Captain allowed a small boat to bring them out to meet the ship. They had left their young child on board with Adventure Ocean, while they explored the port.

  8. Bob - tomorrow will be two weeks from my sail date. Any suggestion when I should check-in again with RCL? My last correspondence was an email telling me that the vessel was behind on working with requests and they should be getting to mine soon. That was last Thursday.

I do not want to harass them, but I do not want to miss the window for requests either.

    Thx
