  1. Hi,...is the OP talking about The Hampton on Brickell? I stayed here

back in November and felt fine (I always sail solo)......I walked outside

and went to a restaurant right along Brickell Ave.

The breakfast at this hotel? Way more than a Continental.....it is a large

buffet......eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, bagels, breads, fruits, waffles,

cereals, just to name a few things.

Yes the hotel is the Brickell one. Seems like a nice place!!

  2. Has anyone ever done the Hop on Hop off Miami Tour with Airport drop off? If so, how does it work and what is the cost. I see it is something that is or was offered on Majesty of the Seas for debarkation. I am in need of transportation back to airport and right now have nothing scheduled. trying to see what my options are...THANKS!!!

I am interested in this as well. I am on Carnival going back to FLL and I think the cost was 55. maybe?

  3. We won't have a car and have also been to Ft. Lauderdale many times before so don't need to do the beach, shop or sight see. Our airlines doesn't participate in Luggage Valet so figured a day room would be the best thing.

Don't want to sit in the airport all day.

How do you know if your airline participates in Luggage valet? I tried to look it up on the Carnival site and seem to think I remember hearing something about this but never took advantage. I am getting off the Breeze in MIA and then flying out of FLL and my flight is at 410. I was thinking a day room as well but I am not sure how I would get there?

  4. Are the big boxes gone from the staterooms? Have the old style TVs been replaced by flat screen? Are their refrigerators in the room?

When I was on in Oct the box's were there and the TV's were flat screen. Not no fridge., I was in a porthole room on Riviera deck.

  5. So I posted this in the Carnival site but thought I would try here too for any advise.

I will be in Miami after my cruise on the Breeze and the cheapest flight home is at 410 and its a direct flight. So I will have time. Has anyone done any of the excursions offered by Carnival. There is everglades trip (condition is flights out of FLL must be after 4) this makes me nervous as my flight is 410.

There is also a hop on hop off buss that takes you around south beach or the downtown area. I could probably do this and do one of the loops. The thing here is that they have a 12 or 2 pm run to the airport. 12 seems to early and 2 seems like it might be too late. But if I do this then 12 would prob be best as to be safe then sorry.

    Any experiences??

  7. The restaurant River Oyster has the most amazing chimichuri sauce that they serve on their skirt steak so I understand loving that.

Enjoy the area. If you need any restaurant suggestions, fire away!

There will be a Publix grocery store in Mary Brickell Village and a new CVS opened up right on Brickell Ave which is open 24 hours in case you need anything.

Thanks! I might take you up on that restaurant suggestion! I looked up the River Oyster but it does not look familiar. From what I remember of the restaurant there was a nice outside area and very laid back food. I think the dipping sauce we had for bread or something was the chimichuri or something like that. I remember it was like right at the edge of the bayside market and you could see the arena right there. Hummmm.. I wish I took pictures!!

  8. The area is completely safe during the day and also just fine at night. Just make a right when you leave the hotel and stay on South Miami ave. The hotel is in my backyard and I am out and about all the time by myself both during the day and night without my husband. I have many single girlfriends who live in the area and are out and about. There are always many people walking around at all hours.

BlueHerons is correct, just don't go on some of the side roads at night. If you make a left and go up that way, it will be much quieter at night. There isn't much up there anyway.

Mary Brickell Village and the surrounding areas will be just fine to be out at night. There is also a sandwich shop, a chinese restaurant and Batch Gastro Pub right at the bottom of your hotel.

I'm on the people mover all the time by myself and don't go on alone at night. The metro rail can always have sketchy people on it at all times of day. It's not my favorite way of traveling and I tend to only go on when I'm with people.

You can get to Bayside easily by the Metro Mover and you can even walk, it's not that far and I do it all the time. But honestly, I wouldn't bother. There will be plenty of restaurants around this area that are much better.

It's a great hotel and a great area. You will enjoy it! As a woman traveling alone, this area will be much better for you than anything over by Bayside.

Thanks for all the information! I thought to go down to Bayside to see if a restaurant is still there from 2008. They had an amazing chimichuri sauce and I would love to have it again. I am prob ganna be at the hotel around 2 so I would have a light lunch and maybe go to bayside. Then come back to the hotel and go to the pool for a little and maybe go to dinner. Not sure yet.... I guess I will do things as they come up!!

Thank you this puts me at ease...

  9. We stayed at Hampton Inn last year and took the public transportation to the hotel and it was fine. Very nice area and breakfast was superb that they offered. We did have to take a taxi to the pier. This is my favorite place to stay before the cruise. You can get to Bayside on the metro and it is free. Lots of places to eat

Can I ask which airport you came from? I am flying into FLL and found a shuttle company that would take me direct to the hotel but if there is something cheaper I am all for it! When I called they said that they do have a shuttle for $8.00 that would take you to the pier. I love bayside so I am glad its so close!

    Thanks again!!!

  10. Yes, they do have bar waiters circulating in this area. We spend most of our time in the sun on Deck 5 on the Magic and Breeze because it is not crowded. The waiters on the Breeze came from both the Red Frog Pub and the Plaza bar. (Different uniforms)

Great! I have heard ( or rather read) different things from past guests and they said there was no bar waiters around that area. I think I will go to the more aft spa and set up shop there. Well except the day in Cozumel. I am only planning on getting off to go buy a specific tequila and then I will go to the aft pool!!! That should be pretty open I hope!

  11. I hear the pools can get crowded on the Breeze (personally I like the aft pool) and I was told that deck 5 where the spas are at is a good place to go since they are not really crowded. But does a bar waiter come around there? Or is there a bar nearby that I can go get a drink? I don't want to have to get dressed each time to go inside if that's the case. Just weighing my options as to if I will hang at the pool with half the ship or deck 5.

Thanks in advance!! I appreciate any input on the Breeze. The biggest ship I have been on is the Valor and the last ship I was on was the Paradise so this will be a big change for me!

  12. I also drink the Castello Del Poggio, it was $9 a glass when I was onboard a few months back.

We bring a few bottles from home.

Our local Walmart has it for $11 a bottle.

Anyone tried the sister wine to the Castello?

It's a sweet red called Roscato.

Also around $9 a bottle at WM.

    IT'S DELICIOUS.

It sounds familiar the Roscato.. Does it also have a slight bubbliness to it? And you drink it cool or cold?

  13. The Castello DiPoggio is the Moscato wine that Carnival sells and I believe was about $6.95 a glass. It's an awesome wine! We bring two bottles of it on board with us. The best price I've seen for a bottle of it on land was $17.00.

Odd, I paid $9.00/ glass when I was on the Paradise in Oct. I was on the cheers package for the first cruise and then paid per glass on the second cruise with my b2b.

I am just worried the price of this wine might have gone up and is not included in the Cheers package,

  14. They provide us a very good service. The response by email was very fast and everything was done as we agreed.

Price is good, clean vehicle and they know the area very well. We definitly recommend use Courtney Taylor for your next trip.

Few free to inbox me for more details:).

Without any doubt was one of the best tours we did in our discovery journey traveling.

The view of this part of Jamaica left us very impressed.

Ocho Rios Cruise Terminal, near Dunn's River Falls you will find 2 Local beaches right outside the cruse ship terminal

    Our tips:

If you want a local tour with more exclusive, we have the best indication we use Courtney Taylor Private Tours Jamaica

Tel 1 876 530 7897 or 1 876 593 3992, and we were very well attended, with high level of knowledge and safety professionals.

Every tour we agreed was executed!

We made a small deposit and they were waiting in the terminal exit and it was all executed as agreed.

If you want to go the beach, follow the terminal exit and after about 200 meters on your right you will see the entrance to the beach there and the best beach and closer to the ship.

Do not go on the beach on the left side because there are too many small fishing ships and you need to walk about 4 minutes to have access to the beach, besides having to pay $ 3 to enter and is not as good as the other side.

If you stick around on site and beach shopping, back to the ship to have lunch is very easy and saves you a lot of money.

It takes around 15 minutes from the beach and enter the ship if not too any people in line to do the same.

DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT JAMAICA SEEN THE BLUE HOLE, and undoubtedly one of the best places visited in our travels around the Caribbean.

For Bob Marley fans, we highly recommend Nine Mile is a village in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, the few miles south of Brown's Town. On February 6, 1945 the Reggae musician and peace activist Bob Marley was born there, and later buried there.

There is a beach right next to the port?? Is this for Falmouth? I have tried to do soooo much research about this port but did not know there was a beach there, that is if this is the Falmouth port.

  15. I am going to fly into FLL and was planning on taking a shuttle to the hotel. Is the area around the Hampton Inn safe? I see its not very far from Bayside if I am not mistaken and near a rail station? I am just concerned being by myself and being in the area myself. Not sure if I should just stay somewhere else?

    Any suggestions are appreciated!!

Ohh this is Miami I forgot to put that in the title :(

  16. It is time to finish up this photo review.....who's with me So after the Groove for St. Jude event we headed to the Ovation Theater for Hasbro the Game Show.

Our friend Justin was really trying to get selected to play

So after Hasbro the Game Show was a Q&A with Matt. We stayed for that. People ask some really dumb questions :p Once that was over I went for a walk around the ship

Chess anyone??? The big chess sets are on the Lanai

    I love this view

Can you tell me what deck this was? I like to be at the front of the ship for sail away, not sure why but I like to eventually get up there to just see open sea!!

  17. I did some research and found this excellent little beach bar on a beautiful, safe , shallow part of the beach. It is where they filmed the funky bar scene in "How Stella got her Groove Back"

The owner had to run to town, and I bar tended for him for 30 min! Nobody will approach you on the beach, plan on swimming, having lunch and drinks, bring your own towels

I thought this was no longer open? So I have to ask a few questions....

How did you get there? (Taxi and ask for the place or recommendation of a beach??)

Do they have chairs and how much?

    How much is entrance?

    Were there lots of people?

I have NO idea of what to do for Falmouth and this sounds good,

    Thanks in advance!!
