  1. Anita, I don’t have a Wool& dress. I did buy the dress from Woolx for last summer’s journey. It saved me over there in that 100+ temperatures. They came out with a gray one last winter and I got that one, too. Put some leggings under both and they were good to wear when it was cold. True four season dresses. They came out recently with a sleeveless dress, but I don’t have a need for it.
  2. I wonder if Whole Foods would at least have cartons of water. All the WF stores I visit here below the Southern Border have them.
  3. Anita - I just knew that was a Wool& dress! if you want a low shoe, look at Josef Seibel. The Rosalie 42 keeps popping up on my FB feed. I don’t need more shoes, but if I did, I’d try this on. Comes in black and other colors.
  4. Man, you all are getting battered in CO this month. My friend posted another photo today of more hail. She said good thing the roofers didn’t start yet.
  5. I’m not a sweet or “foo foo” drinks, also. But I cannot stand a dirty martini. Probably because I am not a salter. When I cook only pasta water gets salted. I saw a thing today for new spritz recipes. One was a dirty Aperol spritz. Maybe you could make that one…
  6. I bought Joy Walker rain cover on Amazon. Like $12 or so. Folds up into the small provided pouch, about the size of a scarf. more rain coming this evening. Had hail earlier in the week and weekend but only pea size. Nothing like you had in CO. My friend in Aurora has to get some siding replaced and a new roof from the baseball hail the other week. ootd: my free people hand-me-down jeans, my pink high tops and my “don’t pet the fluffy cows” T-shirt. My new fave! An homage to those tourists who feel the need to try to pet the buffaloes.
  7. My answer would most be the same. I thought it rather rude that a poster was trying to equate a food fascination to obesity. Absurd. The plates that I take a photo of are the same ones and size that anyone would get. Does that imply we are all fat? I also get a perverse pleasure out of sending my “food porn” to friends 😸.
  8. Cynthia- if you want to get a rain cover for your Osprey, you can find them on Amazon cheap. I think I’m finally over what was making me feel yucky the past week. Didn’t feel like eating and then I’d feel queasy the rest of day. only low 60s today and windy so I’m not going up to the mountains again today. OOTD: sweatshirt and leggings. I didn’t close the living room window last night. This morning it was 54 in here.
  9. Food is a big component of my vacations. I’m not obese. I enjoy sampling foods from different places. I take photos of my food because I want to be able to remember the moment. I can look up a photo of the Eiffel Tower or the Colosseum, but not so easy to look up the off-menu secundo I had at a little mom & pop trattoria. Plus, when I recommend a restaurant, I do like to include a photo of the food. I also take copious photos at all the markets I visit. Different stokes, I guess,
  10. I got over the shoe thing in 2007, after I shattered my leg. I had some flats, but I mostly lived in sneakers. Morphed to all sneakers/hikers/trail runners after having to wear “nice” shoes for work at the hotels. Now, I am a 90% sneakers/hikers/trail runners person. Only took my pink high tops and my white low mesh sneakers to Europe last year. No one screamed in horror when I wore one or the other with my dresses, even to dinner. I don’t think of them as “sensible” anymore, but fun and funky. At my age, I’ve earned the right to dress fun and funky and not care what people think. I actually see more and more “mature” women wearing fun clothes and doing the fun hair colors. My day to go up to the mountains today was rained out. Maybe tomorrow. Thursday it’s my visit to my stylist. After feeling very “off feed” for the past 4 days, I am feeling better today. LC continues to be a pain to me.
  11. At work, I call these people “entitled twits.” (I‘be worked in luxury resorts and now a high end boutique condo lodge). Nothing is ever good enough.
  12. I’ll add to marazul’s post. Yes to antica Salumeria for a sandwich and maybe a sweet. TheVenchi store has a wonderful selection of candy and chocolates. Across from it is the Tasso d’ Oro coffee shop. Get their cafe granita con panna! Behind the Pantheon you will find the Bascillica Sopra Minerva. It looks very plain on the outside but it is wonderful inside. A Michelangelo sculpture, beautiful ceiling, stained glass. The remains of St. Catherine of Sienna encased on the altar. It is one of my favorite churches in Europe. And the cool Bernini statue of the elephant and obelisk just outside.
  13. That is who I used for my tour in late April. Small vehicles, 9 of us. Also included a nice little walk through the woods at the National Historic Park. Well done.
  14. If I don’t recognize a caller ID or a photo #, I don’t answer. If there’s a voicemail I’ll listen and call if needed. Saves me a little bit of aggravation. Lousy day today. Weather is cloudy and rainy. I can’t even see the hills a mile away. Smoke again. Dark and gray and makes it so hard to keep eyes open and awake. I think I’ll just work on breaking down boxes to take to recycling tomorrow. I have a winter worth! OOTD: knee length sweats and a T-shirt.
  15. You didn’t say when you are cruising. The lavender fields bloom for a short time and the time varies from location to location. And it is weather dependent. I was there last summer the 2nd week of July and many places had already harvested.
  16. Across the street at end of Pike Place Market (past Starbucks), there is a nice little wine shop, the Pike and Western Wine Shop. That’s where I buy. The guys will suggest things in your price range and style. Just before that store, there is the Kitchen and Market store. Some wines, gourmet snacks and such. I always find something there to grab. Be sure to bring your little reusable shopping bag with you!
  17. Nice! I have a few Osprey items, including a Daylite. They actually attach to my larger Porter bags. Good choice. Does it have a hydration bladder or do still need the bottle? I never liked the bladder on my bags so I take them out and now I have another storage pocket.
  18. PH - sorry the funeral isn’t working out. But have that quality time with family. Melody - yikes on the surgeries you need. Hopefully there is a payment plan available since it isn’t covered. Sherri - have fun with the kiddos. And congratulations on 50 years! Any good dinner plans for it? Scott’s on 5th and Yellow Dog always get good reviews for nice dinners. I still can’t eat right with the temporary. I’ve bitten the inside of my mouth too much and it is more than annoying. Yogurt and soup are my meals still. Ugh. I finished listening to “Spare” yesterday. I enjoyed it. Having Prince Harry doing the narration made it special.
  19. Similar issue here. 1.5” heel is as high as I can go. Fortunately I wasn’t a heels fan in the first place. Some to look at: Teva and Sorel have “flatform” sandals. A platform but no heel drop. Teva has some in leather.
  20. I custom designed my suit this year. I bought the black Riptide tanking top from Athleta and coral paddle board swim shorts from Carve and an agave Nalu swim shorts from Title Nine. I just like board shorts now. I have a black print bikini bottom if I want, but I like the versatility of the shorts.
  21. Go to your local charity thrift stores. Sometimes you can find a jewel there. Where I live, the “ladies who lunch” will donate their evening clothes for a tax deduction. If I ever have to get something very formal, I’d go there first. We also have a consignment shop that is too rich for me - I know a few Real Housewives use the place.
  22. I take it everyday. It is the maximum dose. Chemically, the same as Ozempic. Ozempic is 1 injection/week. Rybelsus is a tablet. Price wise, they are the same. In the highest tier on the drug formulary, thus the price. Now, this is for a 3 month supply, but still a hit to the pocketbook. Usually my pharmacist gets the 3 months for me and then divides it into monthly doses so I pay just by the month. Since I paid for the inlay I decided to pay the whole 3 months and have it done. wow, nasty way to find out that you’re allergic titanium! If my baby tooth needs replacing I am definitely going to ask about this.
  23. Man, we are in our dental stuff! My inlay is $900, all in. I just have the plan my dentist offers so it did help knock the price down to that. The initial process, drilling out the filling, cleaning it up, making the cast, putting in some temporary filler, only took about 30 minutes. The temp is really annoying, but I’ll deal. Go back on the 28th for finishing up. My dentist said this was probably the first molar I had, around 6 years old. It had been filled twice and cracked because it was just old. Melody - ouch on all that dental work. You’ve had a rough time lately. I had Noosa peach for breakfast today. Easy to eat with the weird feeling with the temp. Melanie - you won’t find Noosa at TJs, but you will at a Whole Foods or most supermarkets in San Francisco. Sorry about the ‘vid. Take good care and I hope it passes quickly and mildly. I did stop at TJs and picked up way more than I expected. Jarred salsas, some frozen things, tortillas, crackers (the strawberry jalapeño ones are back), mee krob crackers, rice puffs. I was heartbroken to find no horchata ice cream so I made do with the lemon ice cream to soothe my mouth. Finished the day by picking up my Rybelsus at the pharmacy - $700 WITH insurance. Walked across the parking lot to the state liquor store to grab some wine to drown my sorrows… OOTD: Jean shorts and my Smokey Bear T-shirt.
