  1. Hmmm. Good question. According to the website, it's 330g wool, the same as the Stella legging. Actual weight - I did a "hand test" of holding the pants against certain others. A little heavier than the Stellas, about the same/maybe lighter than the Eileen Fisher pants (Ponte, not Crepe). As far as warmth, I could wear my Stellas indoors at work all Winter long at the lodge and the lodge is pretty warm (usually about 72-74 degrees). Melody has Stellas too so she may be able to speak to the warmth, too. Lois - I didn't realize you were taking a TA so soon!!! You'll definitely have to let me know what it's like to have all those sea days. I couldn't find it, but I know there was a discussion somewhere around here about the overall/coveralls/jumpsuit thing and not "suitable" for public or travel. I was reading my online Travel & Leisure magazine and what do I see??? An article on newest fashion for travel and it was about the overall/coveral/jumpsuit!!! Gave me a chuckle. Boring day today so I'm binging on "Welcome to Wrexham." I really like it. This second season is so much on the people in the town, the women's team. Even if you don't like soccer, it' a good documentary series. OOTD: leggings and a Tshirt again. Maybe tomorrow I'll do something different.
  2. My solid shampoo from Lush takes up no more room than another 3oz bottle and lasts a whole lot longer, like month longer. Lush has a metal container that holds it, so no big deal. It doesn't seem to get messy or dissolve.
  3. I saw that last night. I was trying to decide if I was going to drive down the mountain this weekend. Oh - I don't know if I mentioned this before, but: Woolx now has a pant. It's made from the same material as the trusty Stella legging. Everyone seems to be finding that they need to buy a size smaller. I had that happen. First ordered my usual M, but the waist was huge - measured against the Stella and another pant of mine and it was a good 1.5-2" bigger. I exchanged for a S and it's perfect. Anyone looking for a warmer pant to wear on those cruises and travel to colder climes would find these pants to be a good deal. No need for leggings under pants. OOTD: sweats and a Tshirt as I'm not going anywhere... Story of my life.
  4. Excuse me. Some of us are cognizant of what other pollution plastics from cruise ships and cruisers is made than just what is in the ocean...
  5. My neighborhood had an excellent Halloween night. I think every kid in the subdivision was out. Temp was in the upper 30s and just a bit of a breeze. The kiddos were still in costume and no jackets. Even parents dressed up. I did my hockey jersey, red leggings, pink furry boots and my granny knit toque. To keep warm, I wore one of my Woolx hoodies under the jersey. I tried to scare kids with my plastic "rabid squirrel" watching over my caldron of candy - didn't work 😸 My across-the-street neighbors had quite the setup: camp fireplace going in the driveway, a table set up with the camp stove keeping spicy cider hot and bottles of good whiskey to pour in the cider. All the adults made sure they stopped by at least once! OOTD: black leggings and a Tshirt. Not going anywhere.
  6. that isn't the only thing. Where are all those single-use bottles and bags going to go? Landfills are filling up and we don't want more land destroyed just to take care of trash that didn't have to happen. Look at how the islands have to dispose of your single-use products? It has to be barged somewhere, and that costs money that some of those 3rd world towns do not have. Have a little compassion and let go of your "wants" for a little. Buy a cheap bottle to resuse. Bring a cheap cloth bag to put your purchases into. More and more places outside of the US are getting rid of the single-use products. Just suck it up and help out. You can buy all the bottles you want when you are home,
  7. A wonderful crisp Fall day. It was a sunny 24 degrees when I went out to get coffee (I ran out of filters) at 9:30am. Fleece jackets and toques on heads were the norm the coffee shop. Went across the road to the supermarket to get filters and breakfast goodies for the week. And the Halloween candy was on sale so I picked up some for the neighborhood kids. We have a neighborhood parade followed by trick or treating on driveways. I'm either going to dress as a wizardess again or put on my classic Pittsburgh Penguins hockey sweater and my wool leggings. It may be a little cool for the wizardess, I hit up TJ's Wednesday after my dentist. I forgot to mention some good things I got: Lobster Bisque - nice and creamy, no chunks though. Jalapeno cheese dip - in refrigerated section, Really good. You heat it up. I ate it with carrots. The spice builds up. I was disappointed there was no Pumpkin Cream Cheese. It's one Pumpkin thing I really like. Hopefully it'll be there in November. But happy that there was still some Cranberry Goat Cheese log. Very tasty on a cracker, OOTD: my new smaller size jeans (yes ladies, the ones I had this Spring are now too loose), a Mountain Hardware hoodie shirt and my pink camo Sweaty Betty fleece jacket. Olu Kai Chukka boots and a baseball hat - couldn't do a toque yet!
  8. Lois - just speculation, but, dehydrated from exercise and then going into someplace that makes you sweat even more (sauna, steam, hot tub) can send you into hyperthermia. If you are by yourself it could be possible for you to not realize what is going on, "doze off" and go underwater.
  9. Or, picking up that ham & cheese baguette at Paul... (my CDG guilty pleasure). I like the transit in CDG mainly because I can relax in one of the Air France lounges.
  10. This is my first try. I think it was Cynthia who recommended it to me. I needed something new to wear for work this Winter so I don't look like a ghost but not made up like a clown. I'm just a moisturiser, brow (I've lost most of mine) and a little liner kind of person. Still some of the snow is on the ground on the north-facing places around the neighborhood. But, it's sunny so that's a good thing. OOTD is the joggers again and a different Tshirt as I'm not going anywhere.
  11. go to El Cortes Ingles department store at the top of Las Ramblas and buy one if you must have one. My travel mantra (and my hair stylist agrees) is to give my hair a vacation from all the heating and straightening and such. 😸
  12. In college, I had one professor who had a rule: if he was not there by 5 minutes after start time, we could leave. If he was there and you were not there by 5 minutes after start time, he'd shut he door. I follow that lead. Once I'll be OK, but after that one, you are just plain rude.
  13. Have you been to Cesare al Casaletto? Out of the tourist zone at the end of the No, 8 Tram. One of the first places recommended to me besides Armando. I went by an Athleta store yesterday on my way to Sephora (picked up some Nars tinted moisturiser to try). I asked a salesperson about those pants. She said they are the same design as the Brooklyn, just made with heavier fabric. I didn't try them on, but the fabric did feel nicer to me than the Brooklyn. If I needed another pair of black pants, I might try them. Good dental checkup yesterday, Had a new hygenist do my cleanings (new to the office, not new to the practice) - first time in years that I had a fully manual cleaning. It seemed faster than usual, too, And my gums didn't feel tender. Done for another 4 months. Woke up to about 4 inches of snow on my fence posts. Ugh, Really thick dense stuff. It's going to be kind of ugly all day, so I'm staying put. OOTD: black Vuori joggers and a Tshirt.
  14. sherri - I hope your trip is MERAVIGLIOSO!! Cynthia - dang, can you stuff me inside your suitcase??? OOTD: Finally a little cooler (in the 50s), so a long sleeve Tshirt and jeans. Tomorrow is my quarterly visit to my dental team and about the same temp, so the same attire will be worn.
  15. I love them. I have some that I do wear for work. I'm running around my condo lodge all the time and I have to take the Front Desk iPhone with me and the master keys. The pouches are perfect. When I travel I always have at least one hoodie with me. I just bought a new hoodie to take to Palm Springs to wear when we go out in the evening (in December and not cold enough for a jacket). It'll go into my work rotation when I get back. We all have such diverse ideas as to what is acceptable to wear to the grocery store, restaurants, cruises vs in the privacy of your home and garden. It's what keeps things interesting. It's finally cooled down enough here (highs in the 50s and a few 40s) that I can bring out my hoodies (and my leggings)!!
  16. Good Saturday to all! I have another week of sunshine coming, but just a little cooler (upper 50s/low 60s). The weekend is upper 60s so still Tshirt & shorts time, going to maybe jeans & Tshirt on Monday. I have to milk it as long as I can before I have to drag out the jeans and leggings full time! I now have a mini-vacation on the schedule! My OLD group of girlfriends (from the late 70s) are going to Palm Springs the first weekend of December for 4 days. It's my first weekend of work, but nothing happens then so I'm going to take it off. It's kind of a bittersweet trip, though. We always went to Palm Springs for a weekend before Memorial Day to get our "base tan" going before our trip to the Colorado River. As we got much older, we've changed locations and times but we managed to get some of us together. One of our BFFs started early stages of dementia last year so we wanted to be sure we get at least one more trip in together. Palm Springs is close to all but 2 of us, so they can drive an hour or so there. We'll just wing it on what we do, depending on how she feels and what she can do. At our age, just sitting in a lounge chair and chatting is exciting. I bought flights last night. Dang - it's twice as expensive to fly SLC-PSP as it is for my one friend to fly DEN-SLC!!! Only 3 flights/day nonstop (1.5 hours), otherwise it takes 6+ hours or overnight connections in Seattle!!! And, that's still expensive. If you are interested in shopping Woolx goodies - a 15% off everything sale this weekend. OOTD: a Tshirt and my denim shorts. Nothing going on today except putting out some last-minute Halloween decorations on my tree and patio.
  17. It's been shorts & Tshirt afternoons this week. Indian Summer. Nice to get a good last bit of warmth and sunny days. If anyone is looking for some warmer leg wear but don't want yet another pair of leggings, Woolx now has a pair of straight-leg pants, the Ellie. Same material as the Stella leggings. I got my usual size M, but found them way too big in the waist (they were bigger than the M in my Stella leggings). I exchanged for a S and they are now perfect. I had to laugh though - I haven't worn a S in anything since my Senior Year in High School!! If you are doing a Fall or Winter trip, they could be a nice choice, as you can wear them very casual or spiff them up with a nice top and a sweater or jacket. Make packing easier!
  18. My condolences to you and Les and family. I'm really bad at trying to say something. Just know my heart dropped when I read your message. Take care 😿
  19. If you have Armando al Pantheon on your list, be sure you make your reservation as soon as possible. This is definitely NOT a walk-in place.
  20. Being part of a publicly traded company, the primary loyalty is to the stock holders.
  21. Afternoon all! I'm embarrassed to say I went to take a nap at 4pm last night and woke up at 7am this morning!!! I think it's my leftover Long Covid. Every once in awhile I really crash. Cynthia - I think there was a pro-Palestine demonstration in Istanbul. I think I caught a blip on TV that mentioned a bunch of cities that had demonstrations. Melody - nice homecoming pics. The date looks like some of the dates my grand-nieces had - the right jeans, the buckle, the hat. I mean, their high school actually has a "Drive your Tractor to School" day and the kids all bring it. Well, after The Big Sleep, I'm not worth doing much today. I did go out to the market to buy 1/2&1/2, milk and yogurt first thing since I had none of it to use for breakfast. So, my OOTD is jeans, long sleeve Tshirt, Cotopaxi Hybrid vest and a baseball hat. I blended right in with everyone - we all must have had a bad night!!
  22. I am a kitchenware freak, I think, That's what got me started at C&B. Then I got an IKEA nearby and started there, too. I'm kind of eclectic in my stuff (I think the old Hippie Lady in me). I really got into IKEA when the now-ex and I bought the vacation house in Scottsdale, AZ. The prices were right for vacation furniture. Except I did get the dining table at C&B: a fantastic table that is 3x6 of pecan top with flat black painted legs. BUT, it opens up to become a 6x6 table on it's own, no leaves. It was perfect for the house - small 80% of the time, but could open it up when family showed up. I still have it here at home - my very small dining area fits it as 6x6 perfectly. I did buy a bag of meatballs and potatoes at IKEA, too. Had to swear off the lingonberries (too much sugar). They were out of the gravy, though. Always good to toss a few in the microwave for a dinner.
  23. Lois - I've bought furniture to potato peelers at IKEA. I call it a poor man's Crate & Barrel. Some things I don't want to spend a lot of money on so I'll check IKEA. My kitchen island and chairs are from IKEA. But, my dining room table & chairs are from C&B. Storage & organization things I'll get at IKEA. What can I say?? Toblerone - chili crunch should be available in Australia. It's an Asian condiment. It really is good. Cynthia - all those people dumping off those ships to a little port are what scares me most about cruising. At least you could just relax on the ship and avoid the herd! It's cold and rainy today. Just getting up to mid 40s today. Will probably see a little snow tonight. ugh. I'm just not ready for it. OOTD: jeans and a sweatshirt and, when I go to the Post Office, I'll add my Patagonia rain shell. I knew when I bought it in April before my Alaska cruise that I'd be getting use out of it at home!
  24. My vax card is just inside my passport wallet, just like my yellow fever/malaria card. Not a big deal to have it.
