  1. There are still brides who want that classic fairytale wedding. But, it's comparing apples to oranges to try to tie it to a cruise.
  2. Cynthia - I thought Bar Harbor was off the list for cruse ships. My mistake, Your first part of the cruise seemed so long to me and the last part seemed to blow by. I hope you had a good time in the North.
  3. Using a backpack is not really any different. I use locking carabiners to keep the zippers from unexpected unzipping. Some of my daypacks look like purses. I've traveled around Mexico, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Egypt, Jordan and other countries. Have yet to have a problem.
  4. Hey, maybe recommend your weight loss plan to the rich women - leave the Ozempic for those who actually need it to live 😉 I don't know how much weight I've lost lately, but I know it's an inch from my waist. At this point, thank goodness for stretch waistbands and belts!! As far as teeth go, do you get to have a temporary "flipper" to fill in or do you have to go "bare"?
  5. You do you. Rock the hair (I wish my post-COVID hair could take some bright pink!!). Wear the Vintage clothes. I have a friend who does that and I love it. I think what happens is that some women have set idea as to what is "cruise attire" and they can't understand why some don't follow along. Me? I'm an old hippie lady and casual mountain town resident and that's how I dress. I have zero need to be admired for my choice of clothes. The dress "recommendations" from the cruise lines give wide latitude to the clothes that fall with the recommendations. Some women may clutch their pearls and faint at the sight of a women dressing different from their opinion of what is appropriate - just ignore them or give them a snarky smile. They are the ones living in "Blandland". 😉
  6. The one good trend going on now is to wear the hip bag like a sling or crossbody. It's good for everyone.
  7. wow. I didn't realize you had that many! Keep doing what you're doing. Interesting morning. I pulled out my "way too tight" pants to see what's happened the past 2 months. They are now too loose! I could take them off without unzipping them. I have to start putting some the missing weight back - I can't afford to have to buy new pants. I'll be wearing belts for now! Or, just wear my overalls all the time 😉
  8. Lois - have a great trip! Cynthia - I love those pics from Greenland. Cute buildings and even cuter sheep. Hi Sherri! Was this a "quickie" cruise? Hope you're just relaxing in a comfy lounge chair! I'm getting a bit of an appetite back. If something comes into my brain as "I'd like to eat that", I go and get it. Feels better than staring into the fridge with my good food and not wanting to eat. It's not affecting my morning glucose testing so it's OK. Bisquick pancakes with lots of blueberries did a good job. I've avoided pancakes for awhile, but since I have a box of Bisquick I figured I'd go for it once. And I found a new high-protein Special K cereal that I can alternate with my yogurt. And, I ordered some goodies from "Pig of the Month" - I love their ribs and bacon. It just showed up this morning. We've had t-storms off and on for the past few days. Thankfully it's cooled down into the mid-70s. But, it's going back up into the 80s next week.
  9. My old, bad eyes. Plus, I think I was hungry at the time 😉
  10. Lew - when I first saw 'birria", I thought "gee, I didn't know Rome did tacos". Then I remembered that birria is beer 😸 Nice list of places.
  11. I'm glad you like them. I'm not a fan. They just don't agree with me. Do you remember the "Bass-o-matic" from early Saturday Night Live? 😸 Every time someone I know has to do soft/liquid diet this pops into my brain!!
  12. Yay Lois! Never has the short ribs but I've heard they are good. I usually go for the fish... Melody - ugh. You've had more than your share of surgeries this year. Sleeping in a lounger is tough, but it's better than trying to prop up properly in bed or on a couch (voice of experience). Can you do smoothies? Maybe some protein-laden ones. Sorry. A TJ's note: I made the savory Sfogliatelle last night. Usually they are sweet, filled with custards and such. But TJ's little 3-biters are filled with what I would call ratatouille - a little bit of eggplant and tomato. Suprisingly tasty. Good hot and cold (took a long time for me to eat last night). In the freezer section.
  13. Athleta just put out a Brooklyn jumpsuit...
  14. Why haven't you pre-selected your dinner? The pre-flight offerings are a bigger selection than waiting for the flight. It's part of the Delta One perks 😸 I'll be interested to know how the new Sky Club compares to the other one in T4. I really liked that one - I could curl up in one of the chairs they had in quiet spot and nap! I can sleep quite nicely in that Delta One seat on the plane, too. But, I have a few more hours on the plane from SLC than from JFK. Still, it is sooooo relaxing in that seat. I was able to eat my Noosa today. Hopefully the appetite is slowly coming back. I'm proud of my FB group of people who grew up in Newport Beach, CA before it became known as "The OC" (50s, 60s, 70s). In 3 days we've raised $8000 to donate to Maui Relief. We're breaking it up into chunks. First $1500 went to World Central Kitchen by unanimous decision. Today, on our "Pet Friday", we donated $1000 to the Maui Humane Society. We'll decide on more as we go along next week. OOTD: old running shorts and the Tshirt I splattered blueberry juice all over yesterday (one exploded on me when I cut into the pancake). Not going anywhere, just going to listen to the thunder, lightning and rain again when it shows up this afternoon.
  15. Oh well, at least you can keep the zoo on the radar and do it when the reno is done. I saw all y'all are scorching hot again. We've got low 80s and afternoon T-storms. Closest we get to humidity up here. I'm having issues with one of the side effects of Rybelsus - loss of appetite. Now I know how all those Hollywood women lose the weight with Ozempic - no desire to eat. I didn't have a problem eating until about 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden, nothing looks/tastes good. I had to blow off my low-carb meals to eat anything that appealed. A dinner of plain rice (I usually do this when I'm sick), some TJ's Pita crackers for lunch/snack. Even my trusty Noosa is not going in my mouth. At least this morning I got a little hankering for pancakes. So, I whipped up some Bisquick pancakes with blueberries. Those will get me through the day. Maybe a hamburger minus the bun for dinner. Hopefully this goes away soon!!
  16. I've had myself excused due to pre-planned vacation before. Wasn't a biggie. Your district is most likely the same. Sometimes they'll just put you back in the hopper for another possible choosing or they may totally dismiss you for that session. I think that is the difference. My last summons was this past Winter. My boss said "go ahead and do it, we're not busy" so I waited. I got my notice to appear. I filled out the online voir dire for the initial screening. On the morning I was to show up, I received an email that the case had been settled so no jury was needed. I missed being called up for the Gwenyth Paltrow "ski accident" jury by 2 weeks. I would have loved to have been on that one!
  17. Yes. You will go through passport control at CDG since it is your first entry port into the Schengen area. You don't do customs, though. It's not like what you think - over there it is a red/green light system that you self-choose to do. There are agents who do watch and if they think you choose poorly, they will pull you over. I've never seen it, though.
  18. Sounds like the Grand Temple has rules like the Sistine Chapel 😸 Somehow, I think everything English is steeped in pomp and tradition. Kind of cool! Nice looking family photo at the end. I like your outfit.
  19. I like doing tours of local things! I have some of my local things on my list to get done. Have you done a visit down to the Melbourne Zoo? I heard it's actually a fun zoo with active things, like kayaking through places and has a good restaurant.
  20. Nope. 5'8", size 14/16 on top, 10 on bottom. Big shoulders from my competitive swimming days. Bathroom stalls at ski resorts aren't any bigger than an airplane toilet. I'm done. Just call me a sloppy un-admired dresser... But, at 69.8 years old, I'm not going to change 😸
  21. You're overthinking it. The "excess top-half" and the straps go nicely and easily into the bottom of the pants. I never have an issue with twisting - just look in the mirror. I wore my Faherty overalls on my flight from CDG to SLC last summer with ease. Maybe I'm just more adept. I don't understand the issue.
  22. Outside of Cripple Creek, right? Someplace I want to go to. Congrats on the hike! A beautiful day and nicely cool up there.
  23. Yep, it is Cynthia who recommends that hotel. It is indeed in a perfect location. Lois - we do have more than our share of whack-a-doodles here in UT. Go outside of Salt Lake City proper and my town (Park City) and they are everywhere. You have to be careful of what you have on your car and what you wear sometimes out in the boonies.. I was on a plane past the "turnaround" point on my way to the Big Island when the big earthquake hit in 2006. Took us an extra day but we got to the Hapuna Beach hotel, up near where earthquake hit. the hotel took in guests from the Mauna Kea and Fairmont in as many rooms as they could. We could see cracks in some of the facade, but nothing major. Driving to the hotel from the airport was interesting - every once in awhile there would be a piece of broken pavement or small landslide. There were some good aftershocks the next few days, but I was used to them from living in Southern CA for awhile. I just can't imagine a firestorm, though. That terror plus knowing that everything is gone and you have to figure out how to start from absolute nothing. OOTD: old Athleta shorts and an Athleta Tshirt. Easy peasy.
  24. I have no need to be admired for what I wear on a ship, so my choice of footwear isn't a big issue. A simple plain flat will work for whatever I have on in the evening, even a so-called "dressy" night.
