  1. If it's such a safety issue, I wonder if Silversea will have theirs removed, too. I mean, you'd expect RCG as a parent would want to have the same safety standards for everyone, just like smoking on balconies. Or maybe, magically, I wouldn't be as clumsy on Silversea and my knee would heal. That'd be a cool selling feature....envisioning, as I board, a hand on my forehead and "heal!" and then I could use a footstool.
  2. But of course they aren't removing loungers from the pool deck because there's no safety issue there.
  3. For me, that ship has already sailed.
  4. Exactly. I've been one of the group members in the adjoining concierge C1 (they were in PH and adjoining SS). I doubt my presence in Luminae impacted anyone else (I promise I did not scream, run around, or cry).
  5. I've taken Alaska cruises on both Celebrity (Hubbard Glacier) and HAL (Glacier Bay) - I'd opt for a Glacier Bay itinerary regardless of the ship.
  6. I've always needed to call Captain's Club to correct points issues. That's one thing the zenith concierge can't do on-the-spot.
  7. Their answer would probably be "it makes it roomier, which our guests prefer." Guess it's inflatable beachball time.
  8. My last cruise on the unrevolutionized Constellation pushed me to wanting newer/newly-built ships going forward. I like things like USB and AC outlets on the nightstands, better TV interfaces, mold-free, unpatched showers with rain heads, etc. So I've been comparing lots and lots of solo options among lots of cruise lines. Resulted in booking two Silversea cruises @150% for 2025. Silversea rates are all inclusive = no add-ons. The Silver Ray (2024 build, 728 pax) Nov 2025 TA, veranda suite (357 ft, that's their lowest) is $6125 compared to Ascent (2023 build, 3260 pax), unobstructed infinite veranda (243 ft, 200%) at $5764 (all included + gratuities). Aqua would be $7600, Sky suite $11480. Silversea also includes excursions, but on a TA, that doesn't make much difference to me. So for $361 more, I get a real balcony, a butler, room service, mini fridge stocked, walk-in closet, full-size sofa, specialty restaurants, and excursions. At 200%, X's fares are still not a good deal....seriously, is AQ on Ascent worth $1836 more than a bigger suite w/balcony on Silversea? My future X bookings need to be AQ because I'm through with MDRs, that and X just raised the price of specialty restaurants a LOT. Anyway, the equal/better solo prices on Silversea pretty much iced it that this year's Nov Silhouette TA will be my last on X. BTW, surprisingly, Silversea's 150% supplement popped up on lots of cruises, even 2025 Alaska.
  9. There isn't anything on my Roku that doesn't already have an app on my phone so have quit toting Roku altogether. Use Type C to HDMI cable from Amazon and stream directly to the TV. Worked on Summit. Except for my home network, I always use a VPN over wifi. Usually keep it signed into a FL server which allows me to stream my local news apps. That's also how to watch Netflix when out of the country = ship's wifi.
  10. I have a PH2 booked for Vista Nov 2025 TA, 14-nights out of Barcelona. Booked early - good fare. I am resigned to needing a scooter going forward (cannot have the new knee), so I'm booking cabins accordingly. I detest scooters in the hallways and don't plan to be one of those. A PH2 minus the stools at the foot of the bed will work just fine so figured I'm good to go. Then two nights ago, while checking out solo fares on the competition, I noticed an accessible premium veranda (50% solo supplement) for Silver Ray (2024 build, 728 pax) Nov 2025 TA, 13 nights out of Lisbon, $552/night all inclusive. Factoring in gratuities and cocktails on O, Vista is $709/night solo. I really like the looks of the PH2 cabin, the bathroom (no bathtub), dining table, and large balcony. All I know about the Silver Ray accessible cabin is that it's comparably big (veranda cabin layout but wider) without the extra balcony length. So is Vista going to be worth it? I had my TA put a hold on the Silver Ray cabin for a week while I research O vs SS. Since Ray isn't out yet, I'm using Silver Nova for comparisons to Vista. Any recommendations? Guess I should add, I'm a Celebrity refugee. My Celebrity comparison for the above ships is Nov 2025 TA on Ascent (2023 build, 3260 pax), accessible sky suite, $883/night. Really hard to justify that price for just a sky suite. Whichever cruise I choose, I'll be making my own flight, hotel, and transfer arrangements.
  11. Seriously? I just copy/pasted your specific text into Google search. Got the answer Gracie115 gave. Google uses its artificial intelligence quite specifically.
  12. I seriously doubt that even Celebrity has one right now.
  13. My last Celebrity cruise will most likely be this year's Silhouette TA out of Barcelona. The sum total of Celebrity's management fiascos/disasters, now added to an insulting solo penalty (which I find absolutely dumbfounding) = I'm outta here after November. At this point, no matter if or how much they backpedal, I've already placed a large chunk of change with the competition. Booked three cruises elsewhere for 2025 (had to be quick for great solo fares & the cabins I wanted) and can no longer imagine a scenario for returning to X in 2026/beyond. I'm genuinely sad about what has happened to Celebrity in just one short year, but resigned to its reality.
  14. Just a thought, but they also know which pax are zeniths.
  15. I just now checked my Silhouette 13-night November 2024 TA. I had used OBC for a 10-night package back on Aug 30th during the Labor Day 30% flash sale ($356). Today, 5-night and unlimited are the only options and cost more. When I bought the package, unlimited wasn't an option but the nightly combos (1-night thru 13-nights) were. The flash sale covered packages up through 10 nights so that's what I booked. Ten weeks later, in November, I had my agent reprice the cruise and lost much of my OBC. Fortunately, X allowed me to use my credit card to make up the shortage and keep the package. Whew, because I'm certain I'll never see either that package/price again.
  16. Is there a 110/220 power outlet either side of the bed on Silhouette? There wasn't when I last sailed her, 2019 TA, but she was upgraded two months later.
  17. And no attorney would bother. I haven't booked anything having the jacked-up solo price, but if I did find something, I'd just add my sister to the booking for the time being. I've had roomies be no-shows, for real, on more than one occasion.

  19. Good for you I guess. I have no idea what you're referencing and probably don't care. My DH bought 100 shares of Carnival and Royal back in the 90's when we started cruising. I haven't thought about them much since then except to apply for the OBC (they have nothing to do with my own investments). I'll sell when I stop cruising.
  20. I look at the shareholder benefit as a nontaxable dividend and lately, have been applying it to gratuities.
  21. I get it. I receive the shareholder benefit on Silversea, too.
  22. I'm counting on it. I can count on one hand the number of productions shows I've been to on X in the last decade so won't miss those. Casinos no longer are as entertaining as they once were for me, so that's OK, too. I do enjoy lounge singers/musicians, chatting with other folks where we can hear each other (sans DJ), trivia, enrichment lectures, and being able to order decent wine by the glass without a surcharge. Also hoping to find better dining options (better quality proteins). I'll be in Luminae next month, and will be interested to see if the food has improved since last March when I wasn't at all wowed, at least in a good way. Willing to try something new for the comparable price of a sky suite (actually, as a solo, it's $5K less).
