  1. I got one of those today also. It's interesting, but it has to be done in a week. I was just checking a price, and the deposit was way too high (1200) for me to book. But yes, nice offer...
  2. Not sure I understand your point. Are you suggesting to ask that of all crew members you see? Because, if so, that certainly wouldn't work for the OP. Often they are really busy and don't have time to chat, but saying a kind word in their native tongue can be done quickly. Similarly for me. A server might be busy and I'll wait to talk to them about where they are from. That being said, there have certainly been times when I've straight up asked where they are from.
  3. This is what I like it for. I love to travel and if I've been to a country I see a crew member is from I like to discuss it with them. Ditto for a country I haven't been to but want to
  4. Interesting...I took that at face value...saying that because of CC you can read these posts and become educated about cruising. Now I see it might have been sarcastic... Now you're talking my language...but wrong forum unfortunately 🙂 This is a great attitude to have. I'll be honest, slow bar service pisses me off and it's hard for me to not get upset about it. However, I *try* to think the way you said and remind myself of where I am and how lucky I am to be able to be there. It's a work in progress for me 🙂
  5. What experience did you book? (e.g., Bella, Yacht Club, etc.)
  6. Also, the woman could have just eaten in the buffet at whatever time she wanted...
  7. Wow...this is your third post? You *definitely* favor quality over quantity 🙂 Excellent post/points...
  8. If you sail MSC, you'll encounter this stuff and much more 🙂 I would make a call to the rep. Because you're through a TA, they won't tell you much, but they should at least be able to tell you where to find your cabins on a deck map and confirm they are the same class of cabin.
  9. Some have reported they are able to split, others say they were denied. Sorry this doesn't answer you, but that is, unfortunately, the reality with MSC. That being said, I suspect if you are polite about it, you can make it happen...
  10. Wait wait wait wait...are you saying that what happens on an MSC ship depends on your particular circumstances instead of a fixed policy??? Shocking!!!!
  11. Try filing a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). I've gotten great results from them with many large companies. I've never filed a complaint with Celebrity, but I did with Carnival and it got resoleved.
  12. So, I went to purchase laundry a couple of months ago for my Poesia cruise and noticed it was missing. I called several times and all of the reps were confused as to why it was missing. Then, last week, I logged in and saw the prices you saw. Kind of sucks because NO WAY am I paying those prices. As others said, they are almost double. Obviously it was missing so they could rework the prices. My cruise is 21 days, so I need to figure out how to pack better 🙂
  13. I think the OP is talking about the huge 5000 mi wide blob of it heading towards FL
  14. If you cancel YC you will lose the deposit.
  15. Thanks! I saw this reply in another thread and this is what I plan to do.
  16. How easy was it to get a taxi once you were downtown?
  17. LOL, not sure what list you looked at, but it is a communications app - texting and calling...absolutely nothing to do with social media. Perhaps wherever you looked erroneously tagged it as social media because it's owned by Facebook...
  18. WhatsApp is not social media. Think of it as an alternative to texting/wifi calling. In fact, on some carriers (T-Mobile for example) you can't text with the normal wifi package...but you can send texts via WhatsApp. The *only* drawback is that whoever you talk to needs to have it also, but it's free, so not that big of a deal...
  19. Again, shocked you got this working on Carnival as their T&C specifically call out vpn as not being supported. Kudos to you if you got that working...
  20. You did this on Carnival? What level of wifi did you purchase? I agree about the use of the VPN, if the OP''s VPN will do that (i.e., if they've paid for whatever level that allows them to pick their specific country). I'm really surprised you got this working on Carnival as they lock so much down with their wifi...
  21. This works on an MSC cruise specifically? And to be clear, the OP's question wasn't how to access his NAS...he can do that. He wanted to open security for a specific country and that country only.
  22. I'll be in Reykjavik on a cruise and planned to take a taxi from the port to the Sun Voyager statue (using that as a base for a self-guided walking tour). Does anyone know the approximate cost for a ride like that? Also, when it is time to return, is the Sun Voyager a good place to pick up a taxi or should we look for someplace else? Is the Old Harbor a good place to catch a taxi back to the port? TIA
  23. If this works for you - and I think it's a big if - it would be the only way for you to do what you want. However, the VPN mentioned in this thread is a little different from a general purpose VPN...whose servers may or may not be blocked. Since you said you use OpenVPN, I would see if someone onboard the ship you want can currently access it.
  24. That won't work...as mentioned, it will vary. So if you got someone to do that today, when you were on the ship it would most likely be different. Even if you did it while onboard, assuming MSC gets a dynamic address, it will not help you.
  25. This is a good answer if it will work on the ship's wifi. I don't think it will, but if it does then that a solution. Not sure if anyone has direct knowledge of this. And you may need to upgrade to a higher level of internet to get it to work, if possible at all.
