  1. Be careful in the MDR, often they run the drinks on one seapass even though you hand them two. After the first night they usually don't even ask for your sea pass card, they just add it to the primary guest. Same goes for the showrooms, just give them one card and know it will be hit with two drinks. I usually give them my sea pass in the MDR and give them my wife's card in the showrooms. If you have a drink on boarding day before you get the sea pass cards on your door just let the bartender know tour cabin number. PS, pretty good coffee in the Diamond/ Crown lounge. They will use a voucher for drinks in the Crown lounge now.
  2. Yes, they are good almost every place that serves drinks.
  3. Try rcldining@rccl.com. We have used this many times and requests have always been fulfilled. Give them your name, cabin number, ship and sailing date. Let them know what area you would like and table size. Email at two weeks before sail date. We have requested a table for two on the balcony railing late dining several times and have always been given that request.
  4. Royal Blog for AUS sailings shows 5:15 for early traditional, 7:30 for second seating and MTD starting at 6:45. You can find lots of cruise compasses for most sailings on the Royal Blog site.
  5. Lots going on above you on deck 15. We always go as high as possible with one cabin deck above us. If you want to make a change it's best to know what cabin number you want to change to. Do not mention that you were in a GTY cabin. If you used a TA they need to call and make the change.
  6. Last year 7 nights on Ovation, WJ was excellent every day. A week later 10 nights on Quantum, the worst food ever on any royal ship.
  7. Maybe this, Otago Harbor is being diffacult. While strict new biofouling standards caused cancelled stops at Otago Harbour last year, restrictions have not affected visits to Port Chalmers this year. A Ministry for Primary Industries spokesman said while one boat had been turned back from New Zealand this year, there had been no cancellations due to biofouling at either Port Chalmers or Fiordland this year. Biosecurity New Zealand deputy director-general Stuart Anderson this month said that during the season to date there had been four "non-compliant vessels". Three cruise ships had restricted itineraries and only one of the 54 cruise ships expected to arrive in the country had not entered New Zealand waters. It was turned back because it was unable to meet the standards "vital for protecting our marine ecosystems and economy". A spokesman for Cruise Lines International Association said cruise lines were committed to protecting the marine environment globally, including in New Zealand, which had some of the strictest biofouling requirements in the world. "The revival of cruise operations in New Zealand has been largely successful. However, the industry looks forward to further discussions with New Zealand authorities on overcoming continuing barriers such as the lack of suitable hull-cleaning facilities within the region," he said.
  8. Great.. Ovation Better or worse.. Most ships It's terrible.. Quantum
  9. Kids 12 and above, can sign themselves in and out of the Kids club and go to lunch any where on the ship. Kids in the 9 -11 age group can also sign in and out with parents permission.
  10. Several cruises in the Med and agree that almost everyone speaks English. Found that people dress much nicer on Med cruises more tux's and Kilts on formal night. And there are far fewer kids.
  11. Check your prices. A balcony for two and a interior across the hall for the kids could actually be cheaper than a balcony for four. If your kids are young you can put a adult in each room and once onboard no one cares who sleeps where.
  12. One on boarding one pre dinner two with dinner two after nightly show OOPS, I went over by one.. Lucky me , my wife is a light drinker and usually stops at 4
  13. All four are currently listed on Ebay. Some are plastic, a few resin and some still in unopened original boxes.
  14. The general code for 2024 & 2025 10% discount is PARK2024.
  15. All the upper tier lounges are extremely quiet. Most of the day time users just go to read or check emails on their phones. A little busy in the morning as everyone is getting coffee or light breakfast items. I have never been in any lounge where voices were anything above normal, Lounges are also well carpeted. Even during Happy Hour there is little noise in the lounge. Lounges are pretty dead after 8pm. I have never stayed in a cabin under any lounge but have spent a lot of time in them.

  17. It was not the tip as much as them adding a mandatory additional 5% service charge. Sign of the times I guess as several other restaurants in the area have now added a mandatory 4% service fee. Thank God my wife loves it when I BBQ, but even that is becoming expensive. Last week it was $58 for two Prime NY steaks from Costco.
  18. Last year on Disney Wonder I bought four souvenir buckets of popcorn for three grandkids and a friend of theirs. I remember it being almost $40, but refills are cheap for the rest of the cruise.
  19. I just watched a few YouTube video reviews of Icon. All three reviewers said Icon was the most Uncrowded ship they have ever been on. Easy to find a empty lounger by the pool at noon.. True or untrue.
  20. We have a local Mexican restaurant we have have gone to monthly over the last 22 years. After the pandemic they went to a mandatory 18%, two years ago they added a addional 5% service charge. That was it, we have not been back in 2 years.
  21. FYI, check your deck plans. Boardwalk cabins ending in 229 and 629 on several decks have a double wide balcony. On some Oasis Class ships those balcony's also have a extra table and loungers.
