The hop on hop off in Halifax is the only city I know that the charge only through the ship. I asked a few times and they do not have a price in cad that is lower
-
I always ask the cabin steward before I touch anything
-
Remember that if you do it on your own, you pay in cad ( 30 pourcent discount right there ). . The museum is about a 10 min walk Admission is about $15 cad per person . Sorry, don't remember where graveyard is, but remember I walk there, no issue

CGinMTL replied to snowlight's topic in Holland America Line
I love our " funny money". It will be weird when we start seeing king Charles on some bills. That, I am not ready for :(( -

How bad is it to tip in Canadian dollars?
CGinMTL replied to snowlight's topic in Holland America Line
I think that if it is the base tip, then yes, it needs to be in USD. If it is extra, and you are worried Ask the crew member I am sure they will take the cad Worst case, they can ask another Canadian pax to help them out -
Very nice Can't believe you have been on board almost 1 month already

2 weeks tomorrow and my old passeport was returned to me today ( voided). So new one should be right behind

Passport stolen on the way to the cruise port
CGinMTL replied to Silent Penguin's topic in Italy Ports
We all have to be a little more paranoid about safety. ( Even at home) When I travel, I have a money belt under my Fanny pack Always keep a few dollars in there as decoy. If the thief's get that, it is ok with me. On a shore ex in Florence , we had to go through a metal detector to go into a museum I was freaking out. I enlisted the help of the other members to ensure somebody that had cleared ahead would grap my stuff Rick Steves has great advice on staying safe in Europe -
Icon is officially on my bucket list ( in 5 years ) when the prices come down In the meantime, I can now finally do oasis class ( which I have yet to do )

Thank you I missed the tourists when the border was closed. Always love going to old Montreal / port area and seeing the city through the eyes of visitors.

Good morning from snowy Montreal I was looking at the next week schedule and notice you are crossing the international date line 3 times Curious how the ship will handle this Will you stay on " ship date" for the first two Also . Crossing the equator soon All " bucket list" milestones Enjoy Ps . Love the pics of Hawaii while I was digging out 20 cm of snow Which was then rained on and started to melt Perfect for snowmen, but not so much for backs Expecting another 30 cm this weekend

Cruise ship excursions have to start leaving late comers behind.
CGinMTL replied to whogo's topic in Holland America Line
Shore ex should be " on duty " every port day until the tours leave. It is the peak period of their job -
Cruise ship excursions have to start leaving late comers behind.
CGinMTL replied to whogo's topic in Holland America Line
Times are changing and there are more " just me" mentality. When you wait. You teach people to be late. Also, the 2 times does not help Meeting time should be the only one " published". Most reasonable people will target to arrive 10 to 15 min before the meeting time The people that are always late, they look at the departure time They also think their time is too precious to waste 15 min by arriving at the " meeting time". . Same is true with "all aboard" time. This is the only time that should be published. Departure time should be " internal". As it is of no concern to pax -
Sail Standby for $49 a day- new program
CGinMTL replied to BermudaBound2014's topic in Holland America Line
Agreed, this program is not a fit for every personality. The lessons learned are good to help us figure if this program is right for you. Also, you have to plan everything as if you were going, And then be disappointed if you are not I planning a cruise in 48 hours, that would stress me out -
I think if everybody took the same precautions independent of the illness, we would all be in a better place. If I am sick, I self isolate.

I need to vent. My doc's were just returned to me I had an error in my credit card number Why do they ask for a phone no if they can't be bothered to call. Whole thing could have been resolved in 5 min. Took them more time ( and extra expense,) to return everything to me Seriously. I am not a happy camper

Any OBC left at the end, have them transfer to the crew fund :))

Note that cabs in Montreal is fixed only for certain routes. Uber can be an expensive gamble with construction in Montreal I would go with the cab option Funny that hal is also going cab option vs bus.
