  1. I'm a Bonvoy member, so I try to stay at Marriott properties. I'm just a little confused about these 2 properties and am hoping for clarity and some insite. Both of these properties are located at 1717 Broadway in NYC. (Corner of Broadway and 54th). How can this be? We will be choosing one or the other for our pre-cruise stay next year (Dec) for 3 or 4 nights. Please help me understand how 2 hotels can be at 1 address. Any recommendations for 1 over the other? Thanks
  2. Trick question that has no answer. IF you have a valid claim under the Terms and Conditions AND You submit all the required documentation requested. THEN You will have a much easier time with you claim with any company. Are there outlier situations. As with anything else in life, Yes. A good basic 101 travel insurance site to start with a good FAQ page would be here Travel Insurance Frequently Asked Questions « Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com) I have had a claim denied before, but that was because I was trying to claim for something that wasn't covered. I've had 2 other successful claims.
  3. Just sharing my info with you GeezerCouple. My policy only cost $35pp when I buy mine from Steve. The main reason being I only need to cover the medical. I risk the comprehensive part but still maintain a small portion of it by having a trip cost of $500pp.

  5. Unless the policy you are looking at and/or NY State requires you to, AND you're not concerned about pre-existing medical conditions for you or non-traveling family members, you don't have to cover the entire cost of the trip. I work with a well known broker and I only cover $500 pp of my trip. I "risk" the cost of the cruise if I have to cancel. What I can't risk, is the possible medical expenses. The cost of the cruise won't bankrupt me. The medical could cause financial hardship. By doing it this way, I save on insurance costs and I still receive the $100K in "primary" medical coverage.
  6. They are asking for your total trip costs that are non-refundable. Trip costs could include hotel (if you go the nonrefundable way), airline travel costs ( here, just remember that some airlines will give you a credit towards future travel. In this case, the insurance will claim that this future travel credit is your reimbursement.) Also, ensure that your travel dates begin the day you walk out the door to begin your trip and ends when you walk back into the house. Not just the cruise dates.
  7. Hey, if you are in a financial situation where you can and want to spend $2600 for a cabana, then you go for it. Don't worry about what these budget bunnies say. It's your money you're spending not theirs. Enjoy it while you can.
  8. I've sailed on Carnival and Royal for multiple cruises and the OBC provided by my TA has NEVER showed until we boarded the ship. It's always been there within a couple of hours, usually immediately upon boarding.
  9. I enjoy AI's as much as a cruise. Sometimes more, sometimes less. My only feedback would be to double check and ask yourself, Do I really need the rental car. I say this for a few reasons and mostly due to safety. Rules of the road are different in Mexico. Rules of liability are very different. Rules of insurance are very different also. I can't say for sure in your instance but $280 looks to good to be true. Many times, the quotes you receive for a car rental in Mexico include no insurance when in fact it's mandatory. They then add the required insurance at the desk when you go to pick up the car and the price balloons above the budgeted amount. Also, where do you plan on driving to? Are there other alternatives to that destination. Refueling the car is different in Mexico also. You cannot refuel your own car and gas stations have been known to rip off tourists at the gas station by not resetting the pump to 0, etc.
  10. Of course, connectivity also depends on where the access points are located. On my Anthem cruise (in a GS), there was an access point in my cabin. Have heard that on the newer ships that access points are in all cabins. However, in many of the older ships the access points are still in the hallways and depending on your cabin location, connectivity can be affected.
  11. I assume you're asking if the walls are made of a ferrous material that magnets will stick to. Could you imagine the excitement if they were actually magnetic? 🤯
  12. Unfortunately, I've heard this story too many times. Just like medical insurance companies making you jump thru hoops to get pre-authorization approval or even pharmaceutical managers denying a medication that your doctor has prescribed, deny, deny, play the waiting game, follow the money. Travel insurance can be just as frustrating. Sometimes even a very simple claim for a hotel/trip interruption claims for $100 can take 90 to 180 days. I feel your pain. A couple of options 1. Reach out to Steve at TripInsuranceStore. He may have some advice for you, or he may have better contacts at IMG that he can pursue. 2. Every State in the Union has an Insurance Commissioner. File a complaint with them and get them involved. Your profile doesn't list your location, or I'd provide a link. Just google "[my state] insurance commission complaint form" and a good link should come up.
  13. My BCBS covered me outside the US also. For some reason I’m wary of blanket statements. Therefore, I called and spoke to BCBS. 1) Am I covered outside the US? Yes, at out of network cost at usually and customary. 2) If needed, will you assist with up front costs? No 3) Will you pay to medical evac me back to my local hospital for continuation of care once stabilized? No. We will reimburse you if evac is required to receive life saving care just as if you were home and needed ambulance. 4) Will you reimburse for traveling family member? No 5) Will you reimburse to repatriate my remains should I die? No For these reasons I decided to share my risks with a travel insurance policy. YMMV, but I recommend that you call, speak to, and verify what your policy may provide. Have them tell you where in the policy handbook you can find that information. Get name, date, & time of call.
  14. Great thoughts on this merger from Juan Brown aka Blancolirio, a senior 777 pilot for Delta (I believe)
  15. I understand your concern. I also understand that the only thing constant in life is change. Having said that, my experience with Alaska, having flown them for 20 years with many of those miles flying within Alaska, while there has been changes in that time, the cultural sensitivity and services directed towards the Alaska native community has been upheld to a high degree. As good as it once was? No. But corporate greed has not been the primary motivational factor when it concerned the Alaskan natives. They saved that greed for the lower 48 🤣 Their 49 Club has some good bennies.
  16. Unless the ship has directed that I turn my passport over to them, my choice is to carry my passport with me wherever I go. If I'm on a land holiday, I may choose to leave the book passport back at the hotel, flat, or Air BnB, but I'll always have my passport card with me for ID purposes if necessary. But, that's my choice. Everyone else can do as they please.

  18. Thanks for the review. Some of the comments are funny. I liked the font. (maybe you were able to change it). Unless someone else is paying for your cruise or meals, feel free to order your steak however YOU please. Sounded to me like you went into the cruise with a very open mind and excited about the upgrade. However, it didn't meet your expectations and that's fine.
  19. If you feel $50K fits your needs, then by all means do what you feel comfortable with. Myself? I always go with a minimum of $100K coverage. Regarding the "And I'm only insuring the 2 travelers." Yes and No. You're also insuring that if a non-traveling family member (parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, child) should get ill or pass and caused you to cancel or terminate your travels, you would have coverage. But with this policy, if the underlying cause of their illness or passing was due to a pre-existing condition, there would be no coverage.
  20. My initial concern is a low medical coverage of $50K and no waiver of pre-existing conditions for you or for family members not traveling with you.
  21. Some people on here sound like my day 30 years ago or my grandpa 50 years ago. Grandpa complained that his dang kids had to go to school rather than work the fields. Dad complained about them worthless long haired hippy types generation who did nothing to improve the world. Gives credence to the ole saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
  22. How many days out is the travel date? Airlines don't open booking until about 330 days out.
  23. For me, Christmas day or Thanksgiving Day is a great time to do that end of year mileage run. Plane is usually half full. Give an extra smile or thanks to the flight crew because they are at work instead of being home with their family.
  24. Good opportunity to teach them the power of entrepreneurship. Since cruises out of LA tend to have a lot of weed consumption on board. Bring the cookies. Should be able to generate enough revenue to cover all expenses. The above is said slightly in jest. I think this kind of thing is a great reward for their hard work.
  25. Mercedes vs Kia Both have tires, engines, steering wheel, seats, & entertainment. Both will get you from point A to point B. One costs a lot more than the other.
