  1. If there is indeed such a thing as a “typical” winning bid, how much above the minimum is usually required to be awarded an upgrade on the Move Up program?
  2. So in essence cbr663 you were told that Morimoto is the new corporate executive chef and will be tasked with revamping additional menus than just his namesake venue?
  3. On a slightly different note, I wonder when QE cruises following the 2025 Alaska season will be announced/offered? I’m assuming the new series will begin with a transcanal following Alaska then the Caribbean itineraries should start in November. Unless they first throw in a couple Hawaii and Mexico sailings like HAL and Princess? Just under two years off but I would assume Cunard might want to market sooner rather than later for something completely new.
  4. Thanks for posting Tommy - looks promising.
  5. Agreed, it’s a unique product in todays cruise world, and very comforting to me in that (within reason) it still resembles what I first experienced on QE2 in 1979.
  6. We had a good experience this summer with Empire UK Chauffeur for a private car.
  7. I would expect X Pass to have a cut off limit of participants per sailing much like The Key at RCCL.
  8. Looks good and certainly appears they are keeping their promise of upgrading the selections.
  9. I would avoid Invicta. Seiko is far better in a similar price point. Or upgrade a bit to Tissot onboard or a bit more to Tag Heuer.
  10. Yes hopefully this is just a wording issue or disclaimer that nothing is ever 100% guaranteed. The actual booking confirmation paperwork should be the final word of what one is entitled to. Like it states your cabin number, OBC, etc. At least that will be my argument if needed.
  11. Bluemarble - I just checked the Personaliser and as you say it states my previous preference (late, table for 2) and will only be confirmed on board. I will certainly have my booking receipt paperwork in hand after boarding but I hope what was never an issue does not suddenly become a major struggle or confrontation. Needless if it does. Will be curious to hear of experience of those sailing in next few months.
  12. My booking receipt made 29 August for next September on QV shows - Second Sitting Confirmed. Not sure why Cunard would stop confirming, based on availability and fare type rules. HAL and Celebrity continue to confirm early, late, or open at time of booking.
  13. She will finish out the season shortly and be retired by Celestyal and offered for sale. Very unlikely anyone but the breakers will bid on a 41 year old ship.
  14. Good to hear favorable comments on the MDR food and the return of some better menu items. Thanks for your report.
  15. First I would attempt to telephone Cunard and see if this can be resolved in advance. If not I would leave the waitlist stand as there may be some in fixed dining who will wish to change to open once aboard, clearing a space for you. There are probably some tables held in fixed for last minute assignments by the maitre d’ as well, so as long as the waitlist is not extensive you will likely get your request.
  16. In todays litigious and politically correct society I’m sure any presenters would need to be fully vetted in advance of being handed a mic.
  17. We will be doing the Antarctica drive-by on Eclipse this January. I will be sure to post some photos (600mm lens) and observations.
  18. Good to hear, but there needs to be some way to know what will be featured on any particular sailing in advance of booking. I certainly am not booking only for music, but let’s say I was equally interested in two cruises, one offering classical, one not, I would gravitate to the one that did.
  19. They should promote which sailings will offer classical music. That way those interested understand their options and it’s not a hit or miss guessing game.
  20. Cunard has classical musicians on every sailing. I’m sure they won’t mind sharing their source with sister line HAL. How much time do they need to work on it?
  21. I’m sure they jumped on this ship at a very favorable price. Buying directly from Carnival Corp. without the Seajets middleman and after Mirai couldn’t come up with the money. Good opportunity to replace old tonnage with a ship 21 years younger.
  22. Pricing for my October QV sailing have reverted to the same level as the prior Labor Day Sale under which I booked originally. Can’t really complain about a Deck 7 balcony for $1099 for a week though……
  23. Look at Post #1 - under “Combinability”.
  24. Prior to Covid, Princess had a program where you paid a nominal fee and got a ship tour and lunch aboard. If you booked, the fee was credited.
