  1. See review from earlier this year: We enjoyed “Tokyo & Hakone” and am surprised that more guests do not opt for the alternative. Extra cost but, IMO, well worth it.
  2. Gytheion (Tender port, so we were awoken by the sound of the anchor being deployed) Another glorious day, with an excursion to the Diros Caves, an underground labyrinth of lakes and rock formations The bay at Diros ….. overlooked by a fierce woman from the “Mani” tribe After the caves we drove to a small town for a short walking tour and to sample the delights of the local bakery, which specialised in pies of various types and a flat fried savoury doughnut eaten with cheese As our guide had warned, the bakery staff looked stern & miserable but their produce was tasty and reasonably priced.
  3. Navigator was moored near to the Christina O; formerly the private yacht of Aristotle Onassis, being used at present for a film about Maria Callas, starring Angelina Jolie. For the SSS top tier event the F&B department organised a wine tasting. They had been ashore during the day and brought on board some local Greek wines, olives, olive oil and cheese. All very tasty 😋
  4. Katakolon Finally a beautiful, calm, warm & sunny day. The day before we had realised that our pre-booked tour around the archeological site of ancient Olympia was going to be a bit long & strenuous. A very helpful lady from Destinations was able to recommend an alternative and switched our tickets. (There have been a number of posts slamming Destinations but we find all the team on Navigator, under the leadership of Luke, to be friendly and very helpful) We thoroughly enjoyed our alternative included excursion - a Greek cookery class followed by an extensive buffet and Greek dancing …………. including plate smashing ! The guide for the tour was also very good; giving us plenty of gory mythological stories during our time on the bus going to/from the cookery venue.
  5. We hoped this cruise would help us avoid the windy rainy weather in the U.K. ………………. but we were proved wrong🤨 The first night we hit a major storm which continued for the first few days - wind, rain and sea swells up to 5-6 metres 😳 We were unable to dock in Zadar or Kotor, and sleep was difficult with the constant slamming of the ship against the waves. Fortunately neither of us suffered from Mal de Mer so our gastronomic pleasures were not interrupted. The Captain also managed to position the ship to allow more stability for dinner and showtime. So our first port of call was Corfu. Still a rainy day but we had an excellent tour - wine tasting at one farm and then on to another venue to sample olive oil and be shown the pressing process. Finally on Monday we found the Greek sunshine and we have had glorious weather ever since; the forecast looking good for the rest of the week 🤞 More later ………….. lunch beckons 😋 🍹
  6. After a short flight from Heathrow we joined Navigator in Venice (Fusina) last Thursday. The early morning BA flight was comfortable and arrived ahead of schedule. A bit of a faff checking in at the Venice cruise terminal & then being bussed to the port; but all fairly efficient and painless. Navigator and Splendor in Fusina together We were attracted to make a relatively late booking for this 10 day cruise by the itinerary …………… and a very good deal being offered in the UK 🙂 Plus we like the intimacy of the little ship Navigator. The ship is sailing full (474 guests on board) and we are being well looked after by an excellent team of officers, staff and crew
  7. Some more photos of window suite 600 on Navigator (We boarded Navigator yesterday and managed to have a sneak peak at 600 while housekeeping were preparing the suite for new guests)
  8. It appears that the introduction of the EU ETIAS system has been postponed until 2025 Schengen Visa info
  9. We know exactly what you mean. A couple of years pre-pandemic we took a long cruise on Voyager which just felt "off" the whole time. It was very difficult to identify exactly what was wrong but it just did not seem to be a happy ship and throughout our time on board we felt "invisible". Not our normal Regent experience. We concluded that it must be down to the GM and other senior management on board. Fortunately since then we have had some excellent experiences, including two particularly stand-out recent cruises: Splendor: Christmas & New Year 2022 into 23 - fabulous in every way. Navigator: August 2023 - despite poor weather, we had a very enjoyable cruise; a great on-board Regent team and we met some excellent fellow guests 🙂 We are joining Navigator again later this week for a short cruise, so 🤞
  10. 918 is a Penthouse B suite; deck 9 forward. Easiest way to review the suite types and positions is to look at the deck plans and suite descriptions on rssc.com
  11. Jason M is an accountant, but perhaps has a better understanding of how customer (and staff) satisfaction impacts on the bottom line in the medium/long term. In hindsight there appear to have been some very poor early policy decisions taken regarding this cruise and the lack of flexibility offered to guests; thus placing affected customers, and seemingly poorly briefed agents, under unnecessary extra stress. Hope that those who successfully join the ship today can make the best of the revised itinerary and that those disembarking have a safe & comfortable trip home.
  12. Regent are probably advising against the "visa on arrival" because you are arriving in Indonesia by ship rather than into the international airport.
  13. Since the evenings are "Formal Optional" it is very much down to personal preference as to what you wear. You will see gentlemen wearing anything from shirt & slacks, jackets, suits or tuxedos. As @PhD-iva says the attire can vary depending on the location and vibe of the cruise and there are definitely more tuxedos to be seen at Christmas & New Year. Hope you have a fabulous cruise through the Panama Canal in January 😎
  14. Sorry, cannot supply any more useful info …………… but look forward to your review next year, as we also have 600 booked for a future cruise 🙂
  15. Unfortunately the system is no longer in use
  16. That is our experience also; usually with some of the shipboard entertainment team doing a short performance
  17. As @Techno123 advises check carefully the price of the alternative cruise being offered for next year .......... and whether you can secure the suite that you want.
  18. The likelihood is that Regent have oversold "Guarantee" reservations, and therefore need to free up some suites.
  19. If you are happy with the offer and do not mind missing your upcoming cruise then do not delay in accepting; they will be making similar offers to others and as soon as they have secured the suites required then that will be it. I assume the cruise is waitlisted.
  20. Was that the TA's on-line price or Regent(UK)'s website price? Looking forward to your update and hope that you secured a booking for the cruise/suite that you wanted
  21. This does not seem to be the perceived wisdom here in the UK: UK Government Guidelines Disability Rights UK Just goes to show how the english language can be nuanced in different places and how individuals can feel slighted when there was no intention to offend.
  22. Totally agree, and of course you can also reap all the benefits of an “on-board” booking up to 30 days prior to going on a Regent cruise. Very useful if a price rise is coming up or an attractive offer will expire before boarding.
  23. @casperthecat, You can book on board and ask the on-board cruise consultant to transfer the booking to your TA in the UK. That way you will receive the on-board booking benefits (lower deposit, OBC etc) plus any discounts or other perks being offered by your TA. Suggest you speak to your TA in the UK to firm up their offer before you then book with the on-board cruise consultant. That is the best price that he, as a Regent sales consultant, can offer you. He will have no interest in, or knowledge of, any extra discount you may receive from your UK TA when the booking is transferred. Note that the "rules" are different between the USA and the UK in the ways Regent allows their TAs to offer additional incentives.
