Go ahead and book the cabin. You'll love it. As for the buffet suggestion you are on the correct ship. Breakfast options are better at the back of the buffet. Go past the "regular" part to the Planks/Steamers section aft. These are venues where breakfast and lunch are free. Dinner has a $12 charge. At breakfast this is the area where you can get cooked-to-order eggs and made-to-order omelets. The main section of the buffet has pre-cooked eggs. Bleh.  At lunch time there are different selections in these areas. Be sure to check them out. Many don't seem to know they can continue on past the "main" buffet area so it was always easy to get seating back there and we enjoyed the better egg selections, etc. We also enjoyed lunch back there as well.

We didn't try Planks or Steamers for dinner but will next time we are on CB. My wife will order from Steamers and I will order from Planks. They are pretty much melded together and you can order from either venue.

thanks I'm pretty sure I saw your original post.  Thanks

For the CPAP issue, you enter the distilled water under "dietary requests" in the personalizer and tour cabin attendant will bring. There is no way to pre-order the cord. Most folks ask when they meet the attendant on Day 1. We bring our own plug converters so that we can use the european plugs near the beds. Do a search on this board for CPAP and you'll see pix of the adapters which you can buy for $5.00 on Amazon

I was going to send you a link to the CPAP discussion but I can't get a search on the board right now. The above link if for the converter plug

I did see that for dietary requests so I will use that.  Thanks

  3. Thanks in advance for your replies.

my wife and I have been on 8 cruises but this is the first time on Princess.  We are celebrating our anniversary in May so the options on Princess were limited at this time.  We are on the Caribbean Princess on the Caribe next a few cabins from the aft.  We love the aft and there is one balcony cabin on deck 8.  I didn't choose is because it is over the Club Fusion. Does the club really go late on Princess?

other general questions I have that I have not been able to find answers in FAQs are:

When does my cruise that I just competed all the registration info for both my cruise and my acct get linked?

I see a sauna, steam room and thermal spa.  are the sauna and steam room free and what does the thermal spa have?

How do send an email to have water and an extension cord for my CPAP?

What is on Princess Cay other than the beach?  is the snorkeling good there?  i definitely plan on St Thomas/St. John for snorkeling.

what types of venues have musicians and do they play rock lite rock? and dancing other than the club?

It may have been a different ship but saw advice about going to the back of the buffett for better selections.  is there a gluten free section?

    I guess that's it thanks

    5. Don't know what A quest is.

It's a late night game show. Pretty sure it's exclusive to RCL. [emoji4]

They played a similar game on the Divina but can't remember what they called it.

  5. Sorry for lack of information. This is during the booking process. The original lowest rate is from the cruise selection page. The rate changes at the select category page. I’m selecting a choose your own room for a J4 with a non refundable deposit. There was no refundable deposit option. I originally thought the increase included fees and taxes. So basically a $148 change from one page to another.

Another cruise listed $1,025 for JS but then only choice was $1,600 something so I knew that JS wasn’t available.

  6. Can someone explain to me Royal math

JS on Oasis for Nov 18 listed at &1,124 plus $111 taxes and fees $1,235 ($2,470 total)

Get to select a room page and JS is now $1,272 plus $111 taxes and fees $1,383 ($2,767 total)

Subtracting the OBC of $250 or free gratuities doesn't get me the original price, what gives?

    Thanks

  7. If you fly from LaGuardia there are several nonstop AA flights on both Friday and Saturday for $1,246 for 4 people plus baggage unless you have an AA credit card that costs less than $100 per year and then the first bag is free I think for all 4 but don't hold me to that.

    Dave

ok so SWA is $ 2350 direct and From PHL to FLL on Jet blue direct, jul 13th, is $529 and on AA direct is $684 for a total of $1,213 plus bags. even if you check 2 bags apiece its $1,660, checking only 1 bag with one carry on its $1,413.

  8. So after looking into flights for our July Seaside cruise for the 4 of us I decided we are not flying. $2300 plus change( goes up and down a few $$). Then considered renting a mini van and driving until I factored in gas and tolls and parking. So looking at taking Amtrak from 30th St station in Philadelphia to Miami. Yes it is a 28 hour ride in coach seats. But driving would be the same minus maybe 3 hours. On the train however we can get up and move around, not have to beg the DH to make bathroom stops, and we can go into the cafe car to get a change of scenery. And for less then renting the van with all the gas and tolls and parking.

Does any one know how far the Amtrak station is from the cruise port? Does anyone know of a hotel close by the Amtrak station?

    Thanks for any help.

PS. The train is 1/2 the price of flying so the extra long travel time is not a big deal.

  9. Arrived at the rebuilt terminal F and the usual lines had built up by around 1.30, we had to ask which line was priority boarding because there were no signs to inform people and no sign of anything for the YC.

There was around 6 scanners that everyone had to go through with their carry on bags etc.

We waited around 15 minutes and then headed up to the booking in area which was not separated for the various packages.

Having got our cabin cards we headed on to the ship and after 30 minutes we were onboard.

Aft cabin 14262 as I said on another thread has great storage space with 10 drawers plus another 4 in the two bedside cabinets, open shelf space and 2 double wardrobes one side of which houses 5 of the drawers, 2 small shelves and the safe.

The bathroom is a decent size and a great sized shower, bedding, pillows and beds are the same as the YC as is the camera phone.

Nearly forgot there are also 3 shelves behind the mirror which is above the dressing table and 2 USB ports, 3 European sockets and 2 US sockets.

There is also a Double fold out sofa.

The carpets are not the pinky colour that has shown up in many photos, but more of a burgundy as are the curtains and the Sofa.

The big window has self closing curtains one you give them a gentle pull.

There are 2 chairs and a foot stool plus one recliner chair, after a chat with the Deputy House keeping manager we now also have a lounger as well.

Looking down onto the long deck 9 balconies it does look like they are painted green as you can see drag marks on them of the sun loungers

So far things appear to be OK though there are places with not enough staff especially the Chocolate bar, we have yet to receive our black card benefits of the chocolate strawberries and the prosecco!

Dave please let the room steward know that everyone staying in your room after you wants to keep the recliner. ;p

  10. What riclop is saying you're asking someone to put alot of faith is someone they don't know to hope you are going to send the money once you receive. A possible solution if someone wanted to go through the time and expense would be for them to list it on ebay and so you could purchase it. They could include in the price not only shipping but a little bit for their time. win/win. Hope you get it.

  11. Booked on AOS from San Juan 3/31-4/7. Supposed to stop at St. Maarten and ABC's. Had a tough time finding flights that worked, but manged to book trip down on Friday before on Delta and a 430 pm direct flight back on Saturday on SW.

Got a call last night that SW changed my flight - from 430 pm direct - to 10 am to FLL, with a 4 hour layover. I am a huge worry wart and would not risk a 10 am flight upon returning from a cruise - I just dont want the stress of will we be delayed, customs, disembarking, etc. I know some do it, but I dont need that stress.

Because of huge change in times, figured they might refund flights, but checked around and, other than 343 am flight Sunday morning on Jet Blue (For the reasonable price of $157), all other one ways were way more than i had paid for SW. I found a 130 pm on SW, getting in after a long layover at 1125 pm. So we took that.

I know airlines change flights all the time, but why eliminate a non-stop to NY? And none were available on Sunday either. so frustrating...

    that's it...

It looks to me like the FLL leg is at 1:30 pm but there is a 10 am to Orlando with what appears to be a shorter layover not knowing your exact final destination. If an airline changes your flight significantly you don't have to take what they offer if another option even if more expensive flight fits your schedule better; but only on that airline.

  12. You're at the lowest level with NCL, Bronze, as I was with RCI, Gold, and I received the classic match.

FYI you get the benefits of that level but they don't start you at your comparable level of points. I have one cruise with MSC and I have 800 points. You are at the top of the NCL Bronze level but that doesn't transfer to almost going to the next MSC level with your first cruise.

  13. Hello All,

im currently planning a cruise for my girlfriend and i. We are booked on Anthem of the Seas to the Bahamas, October of 2018, she doesnt know yet till Christmas. One of our stops is Port Canaveral. I was thinking of doing Fishlips for lunch then to the beach for a few hours. How is the beach there? Is the beach free? Has anyone ever done the beach in Port Canaveral?

Here is a link for Jetty Park that has a limited Fish Lips cafe, there is a full service restaurant one in the area of the dock.

    https://www.portcanaveral.com/APAP

I didn't see a fee for walk ins. The beach is flat and sandy, and very wide when the tide is out which is the only time I've been on it while riding my bike in the morning.
