Dave ... The Aurea suites on Deck 9 aft and forward will most likely be like the ones in the graphic shown in this link, with a larger version for the aft suites.
Click on the Grand Suite for the graphic and layout plan.

Thanks for that info.

Since I booked a couple of months ago on the Seaside I noticed a new category called grand suite. I have one of the 14 aft larger suites ( at least they look that way graphically), are these considered to be the grand suites?
Thanks

Yes, that's the size I packed in for our last 8 night cruise. However, the only difficulty for me is finding room for my sport coat. That had to go in a different bag.
I seriously need to plan out each day though... which pants I'll wear more than once in the Main Dining Room, which shorts can be worn more than one day, making sure shirts work with the shorts/pants I'm bringing, etc... It's funny though, even though I plan it out I still end up coming home with something I haven't worn each cruise.

I wear my sportscoat when flying then I don't need the luggage space.

That's actually very helpful. If you assume the sink is level, your shot was only off by one degree. Pretty impressive given the circumstances! :)
The Black line at -1 degree is the camera angle. The water, which would represent the actual tilt, is at 8 degrees - the red line. I also put in a purple line that's at an angle of 15 degrees off level. Finally, there's a green line to show the 45 degree angle. The water would be running out to the sink at around 15 degrees.
Based on this pic I'm sticking with my 3 tile estimate. :)
-
This is the best picture I have of something to measure the tilt:
Based on this picture I would estimate an angle of 14 degrees. An estimated drop of 3 tiles vertically over 21 tiles horizontally. But that's based on the moment that picture was taken.
Just saw the other response just now and that is not an unreasonable estimate as well.

I guess the rules prevent you from posting the website but can you give me a hint????
A dyslexic look out in the crow nest would be a Scanner of the Sea.

Booking thru MSC Cruises website, and after you pick your room type/category, it says those rooms are "ONLY ON " such-and-such floor, and the dropdown menu gives you only 4 rooms to choose from. And they're pretty bad rooms, even a year out. Essentially just showing you the rooms with obstructions or rooms near the noise centers/stairs/elevators.
On Splendida, I know there are 2 decks that offer many many Balcony1 rooms. And I know that this far pre-cruise, they aren't filled.
Is there a different website that allows me to see ALL the non-booked rooms, so I can request a different one than the 4 MSC wants me limited to?
A few weeks ago I was not able to see available rooms on **********dotcom for MSC but as of right now it is showing many rooms for the date and category I selected. you will still have to call but this will give you a better assessment of available rooms. I don't know if it shows everything but it certainly showed more than the MSC site.

I think I will see if we can get the OBC instead. We don't drink that much when away or outside the YC. They offered the drink package to those early bookers.
Weird, I just went and did some dummy bookings and the drink package came up for anything both fantastica and bella even for an inside. This was for the March 10 cruise and I didn't put in my voyager number.

Finally managed to get a move from our booked Deck 9 Aurea Suite Aft (side) to a Deck 14 Aurea Suite on the back of the ship, cannot wait to see the views from up there :D
Be sure to post pics after your cruise so I can see what my room and views will look like. :D

Snorkelboy... Congratulations on getting the change, in the UK we were told that those cabins are not yet on sale for the Xmas 2017 cruise, still appears that the Left hand does not know what the Right hand is doing.
Thanks that has to be very frustrating when someone on one side of the pond can do things differently. Are you able to book through an American TA or call MSC USA directly?

When you book the other suites (like Fantastica or Aurea), do you still have access to the Yacht Club or do you have to specifically book a Yacht Club cabin?
On NCL there are certain levels of suites scattered throughout the ship, but they all have access to The Haven, which is the NCL version of the Yacht Club.
Thanks!
I don't know the answer to this. My assumption was that only the yacht cabins had access. Most of the non yacht club suites appear to be at the opposite end of the ship. I know one of the more knowledgeable members on this board can give you a definitive answer.

Snorkrlboy ... Did you change to one of the Aurea suites with the big balconies? Looking forward to ours.
Yes I did, we are on deck 14 starboard aft. We are set for March 10th.

When I tried to book a super family right now only the fantastica experience comes up. For February it was $4,223 with $400 OBC. Seems like a pretty good deal for two rooms.

I did because the concept to bringing the dining closer to the sea appeals to me and it's only a $200 deposit. I've never book this far out but usually the introductory deals are the best and I said what the heck. I booked a fantastica suite for the same cost as my Jr. Suite on RCCL but it includes the drink package. I have since changed this to a full Aurea suite on the aft. I haven't been this excited for a vacation thats over 2 years away ever.
I also have a cruise on the Divina this October because of two for one pricing and I wasn't planning on doing a cruise this next year as I am doing lower cost trips but the cost for the cruise sure fit my intentions.
Do it its only $200 to hold and you have nearly two years to decide befor final payment.

Our bed in 8390 was awful. Not hard but the springs gave no support it poked into my back and had deep valleys. I had hip and lower back soreness. Asked for a bed topper to no avail. I've learned to request this in advance for the next cruise.

got my answer in another thread.

Just wanted to let everyone know... I am brand new to MSC, but so far, customer service couldn't be better. I just noticed on line that the Cyber Monday sale was still showing up, with Shipboard credit offered that I didn't currently have.
I called to inquire and I have now canceled, rebooked and have saved $30 in standard cruise fare and gained $300 (balcony cabin) in shipboard credit. Woo Hoo. I'm posting in the hopes that others can take advantage of this!
Looking forward to my first MSC cruise!!!!
Was your OBC shown as $300 or $150 with two names listed. I was told $300 but it currently showing the $150 with both of our names listed right below.
Thanks
Dave

Thanks for that information. Do you know how OBC is shown for the online booking? Most cruiselines show the total per stateroom and right now it is showing half of what I was told but lists both names so I'm assuming it is showing OBC per passenger.
Thanks Dave

Interesting about the aft balconies because I was told they had not been made available when I spoke to them yesterday. Are you guys aware that booked cabins are not confirmed until embarkation and can be changed by MSC.
I did see this and thought it was strange. I wonder if this happens frequently or is mostly used as a disclaimer if they screw up somehow.

There was a thread on the RCI board about the great deals to be had with MSC Cruises, so I checked out the website and found the 2 for 1 balcony deal on that coincided with my wife's fall break next October so I booked the Divina a few days ago and then began cruising the MSC board. I learned about the Seaside so I thought what the heck and booked a Fantastica suite for $2,500 with all inclusive drinks What a great deal. I'm paying the same for a jr. suite on the RCCL Adventure without a drink package.
Then I poured over the deck plans and I see the aft cabins with a wraparound balcony so I call to see if they're available and what the cost is. They are available and are the same cost as any other Aurea Suite only $1,000 more than my Fantastica Suite but also includes $300 OBC. we will be on the March 10, 2018 sailing.
Then walk out the door and jump on the panoramic elevators. Wow, wow, wow.

When we sailed on the Navigator we tried Sabor for dinner and again for lunch we liked it so much. We had the sangria carafe with dinner and two grand margaritas each with lunch. Probably the earliest in the day we've been that giggly. Am planning to return when we sail on the Adventure after her refurbishment.

Yes I was able to reprice an existing cruise and benefited $170 with the increase in fare. I have a total of $490 in OBC from RCL and TA.

Just used Galveston Express and they were great. Much cheaper than everyone else. I would use them again.

San Juan time in port different on Divina
in MSC Cruises
Posted
I've just come to realize that some itineraries with Nassau, Phillipsburg and San Juan have extended time in San Juan depending on the order of the itinerary.
Most itineraries are docked in San Juan from 8 AM to 4 PM while the one I'm on is from 9 AM to 2 AM the next morning. On my itinerary( Oct 8, 2016) San Juan is the last stop. Does anyone know why this might be? I excited to be able to spend the evening in San Juan.
Thanks for any insights and or guesses. :)
