  1. Next time consider booking.. Cecelia’s for beach day/lunch Or A rock pool at Sheer Rocks Both have great food, ambiance and service. Definitely places one will wish to return to.
  2. Save money? Okay… Here’s one’s travel protocol. One will not recommend it, but many on CC love it for the price. Okay, let’s give facts about the $2/2.50alleged public bus (private minivan- aka Jintys) Walk to Front Street, arrive at Midtown, opposite the Ferry pier, walk down main road (Front Street -Pier to left), turn 1st right, walk down side street, at main T junction you’ll meet Back Street, search up and down Back Street for a Jinty (mini vans) with a sign in windscreen for the required destination, board, wait until van is full before departing. Journey will encompass a meandering journey on/off main roads, stopping to drop people off and pick-up. On arrival at destination agree where the best Jinty pickup point is for passing Jintys for return destination. Returning one has to stand at the pickup point, view from distance/search the windscreens of approaching Jintys for the destination sign required, flag down the Jinty, which may not stop if full. Repeat flagging down process until one finally stops, board. Arrive at destination (Back Street), follow the reverse directions for outward journey. Note the time taken to arrive at destination, from the time one left the ship to destination. Then allow an extra 30 minutes minimum for the return journey for delayed flagging down and heavy port traffic. Good luck. At least one will save a few dollars, which was the sole basis of one’s journey.
  3. Marmalade - Take the wine pairing Menu - Open on a Monday - Book very early, repeat book early, as fills quickly. https://www.marmaladepr.com tasting menus from 5:00pm to 10:00pm mSaturday.
  4. Loake have a good selection of “G” (wide) fit. To assist … Link… https://www.loake.com/fitting/g/
  5. Should one have to pay 20%, or more, for a drink in the Commodore, or Chart, on Cunard, then so be it. It’s only one small part, of so many memorable and enjoyable experiences, when taking a Cunard Voyage. Happy to pay to get what one wishes. Just living life free and easy.
  6. No idea on PJ Store. With regard to excursions, there are many discussions and recommendations under the Island’s thread on CC. If requiring information not immediately available, then just post the question. Someone will reply.
  7. If going to the French side for lunch, remember good Restaurants do get full, so best to book well in advance. Consider La Villa for a shabby chic dining experience with an excellent set Menu (one can upgrade a course, or two, if wished at a nominal fee), plus their wine list is extensive and reasonable.
  8. Contact Rum Bus by face ache message, as they have cabanas, but heard there were also private chalets available for rent as part of Rum Bus/Conch Beach.
  9. There’s another…. S.H.T. S = Ship Crew - Noisy variety H = Herds T = Towels
  10. T'erds is a word constructed by my Bajan friends, being a combination of two words Towels and Herds. The T from Towels and 'erds from Herds to describe some tourists. TOWELS: Arrive by the cheapest means; deliberately take the most annoying spot on the beach to spoil a view of paying clients; spread the ship's Towles; constantly repeat the mantra "beaches are free" like a demented parrot; do not spend anything at the resort; bring food and drink browsed from the ship's buffet, all wrapped in a ship's napkin; bury their picnic debris in the sand; use the sea, beach and all the venue's facilities for free; if there is charge for toilets, decline and use the sea; return to the ship by the cheapest means. Then when back in the Ship boast they spent the day at Carambola (Kim Sha et al) taking lunch and drinks there. HERDS: Arrive loudly en masse; stay loudly; have shouting conversations on their mobiles, or with other herd members, albeit 2 feet or 20 yards way; bring coolers full of Supermarket bought beer and food, then demand ice for free; bring boom boxes and play on highest volume; sometimes pay for beds but insist a colony of friends is created; complain about the price of venue's food as the reason for buying a single slice of pizza. Seek to use Hotel or Beach facilities for free, failing that, turn the sea into a Urinal (aka going for a swim) Abuse or ridicule other guests, and members of the venue's staff, solely for the group's amusement. Basically, it's a group who knowingly do everything possible to spoil the genteel ambience of the venue, and to annoy as many people as it is physically possible. Then leave loudly en masse. Other items of annoyance can be added to each of the above definitions as required.

  13. The Restaurant where one dines will call a local reliable cab, just ask.
  14. Sorry, have never visited, neither have friends, but can recommend Silversands AI Day Pass…
  15. Something different? Then take a Day Bed & Plunge Pool, plus lunch, at Sheer Rocks
  16. @majortom10 is spot on…. Book a Day Use Hotel https://www.dayuse.co.uk/s/london-heathrow-airport-lhr?selectedAddress=London+Heathrow+Airport+(LHR)&sluggableAddress=Heathrow+Central+Railway+Station&placeId=eyJsYXQiOjUxLjQ3MTE1LCJsbmciOi0wLjQ1NjQ5LCJ0IjoxLCJwIjoiY3VzdG9tIn0%3D%2Bf77b3ed7b31b7d025cd7e7f5f71cb94e&checkinDate=2023-09-12 Coupled with booking Airpotr…. Then no luggage check in…. Straight to Security. https://airportr.com/en/
  17. Nothing of note close to the pier. Take a short cab ride to Sheer Rocks, the food, service and views are fantastic. Book in advance. https://sheer-rocks.com
  18. Hi there, me again, sorry, If the requirement for a Hotel to just rest and relax for a couple of days, then think about a place on the outskirts of Rome. Have stayed at these on business. Worth a look? https://www.hotelcastelvecchio.com/hotelcastelvecchio/en/ http://antonellocolonna.it/resort-spa/ Maybe a slightly longer ride from Airport, but a shorter ride to CIVI. For Roma Cabs it’ll be no problem. Good luck….
  19. Note regarding trains. It’ll have to be a cab from hotel to Station. There are no Porters to assist. The access to the train is up a steep flight of short steps (think ladder), then load luggage and chair, then find a vacant seat dragging all the cases and chair, then there is a problem with stowing cases, as the storage areas with line of sight from a seat fill quickly, gangways are narrow, with overheads narrow. Your party may not find seats together. On arrival at Civi Station more angst etc etc. Take a Cab from Hotel to Civi Port, arrive in style and totally relaxed. Questions are there to be answered. Ask away, CC members are happy to help. One’s Rome Hotel will know where the nearest off-licence is for the purchase of GROG supplies. For interest, the barrels of Rum used to be marked GROG, which was given to stand for George Rex Old Grenadian.
  20. Airport to Hotel? Hotel to Port? Ask Rome Cabs for both transport legs. https://www.romecabs.com/contact-us.html They have many years of experience, also probably the best, therefore, they must have vehicles to fully suit one’s specific requirements. A personal favourite. Footnote: Think you’re are going to be the best informed “first time” person in the history of Cunard.😉 Enjoy….
  21. Luggage from London Home or Hotel to Heathrow? Use https://airportr.com/en/ They collect luggage from origin (Home or Hotel), check in all luggage with airline, weigh, fit security seals etc and tracked. Then one just rocks up to Airport Security with hand luggage only. Simples…….. Consider a method of Home to Hotel We used https://send.dhlparcel.co.uk/resources/sending-luggage-abroad - no problems with tracking online Friends have used - with no problems https://www.sendmybag.com/en-au/quote?gad=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk5KYyZvrgAMVOZFoCR3ZAQcXEAAYASADEgLvUvD_BwE https://www.mybaggage.com/shipping/luggage-to-europe/
  22. Consider COSOL - https://www.cosol-tours.com (considered the best by many) ISLAND MAN TOURS (getting good feedback recently) - https://www.islandmantaxi.com
  23. To save any angst. Move one’s flight to 12.00 hours, or later. There are protocols and procedures to be followed at the airport, these will mean one may have to queue. Nobody can predict how long these queues will be and amount of time eaten to cause distress. http://sjuairportsanjuan.com/departures
  24. Parking4Cruises discount code (5%) - P4CREVIEW05 Then having booked once, a repeat 5% will automatically deducted. Website recognises one’s Email address when sourcing a future booking price.
  25. S = Ship Crew - Noisy Variety H = Herds T = Towels
