I am not sure if it is an NCL thing, but every time on NCL and Oceania (Haven and Concierge level) our clothes came back smelling like they have been washed in a vat of grease. He have had to discard items because we could never get the smell out of them. I will never send our laundry out on a ship.
Have never had that issue with HAL...

Ja zeker! I can even say: schots en scheve Scheveningse schuitjes 😂
OMG! So making me pronounce Scheveningese is not just my Dad's little joke? This is really a "thing"?
🙂 LOL!

As far as I can tell, you will be fine with that mixture. What is not accepted is a mix of Astra-Zeneca plus one of the MRNA vaccines.
https://globalnews.ca/news/8086370/mixed-vaccines-travel-policy/Oh that's awesome! That's what I thought, (MNRA any brand is OK) then heard otherwise.
Thanks!

We are booked for the July 2022 Viking Passage cruise, but prepared to wait until 2023, if things don't clear up. We'll need a booster too, as we got 1 Pfizer and 1 Moderna shot. 😪

Pretty sure I've seen yoga classes in the gym. If you go to the gym you will see sign up lists for spin, yoga and pilates, I believe. They will charge the class to your room.

Only if you tell them too.
Thanks Kazu.
Ugh, I was hoping to not have to deal with front desk staff...

If you have OBC remaining at the end of the cruise, they will use that for the Staff Incentive, correct?
-
Perhaps a dumb question - but would you get double the amount of OBC if you own 200 shares?

I once ate the 22 oz steak in the Pinnacle (I'm a petite woman - normal BMI - a little on the higher end of the scale) - anyway, when I finished it the people at the table next to use applauded! It was hilarious!

So sorry! I was looking at the Nieuw Amsterdam! 🙃
Not an issue whatsoever! Thanks for taking the time to respond. I do appreciate it!

Thank you both! 🙂

It looks more like it's underneath the Lido? When I look at where the elevators are located...
-
Hello,
Can anyone tell me if Cabin 8136 on Nieuw Statendam is under the carpeted section of the Lido? The room looks long and narrow, but the balcony really appeals to us. Just don't want to have a sleep deprived vacation! 🙂
Thanks!

Depending where your sailing it can be pretty cool or warm near the promenade doors with them being opened by folks coming back and forth from the promenade.
Shouldn’t be much of a problem on a TA but Antarctic cruises one might sense pretty cool hall way.
Yes, that's another concern... we're planning on the Artic Circle cruise, July '22. While I want to be fairly close to the doors, I won't want to be the first cabin next to the doors.

The one thing I can think of from our transatlantics on the older, smaller ships , is how much I always enjoyed the wide open views walking complete laps on the full promenade decks closer to the sea.
I found the Lanai cabins to be slightly too cramped, but have always loved the Lower Promenade Deck rooms - we liked the ones adjacent to the doors leading outside to the “big veranda.”. So that was the trade off for me of not having a private balcony.I love the Pinnacle Class ships but miss the vintage ocean liner feel of the older ships.
@Carribbean Chris,
Just wondering if you can hear the slamming of the doors as people go in and out? I'm worried about that.
Another question I wondered about the Volendam - does deck 2 allow access to a small outside area both aft and forward?
-
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a TA that knows enough about cruising to make it worthwhile. And our last TA gave us a $20.00 card to use in the Casino. (We don't gamble)...
I can quickly email my PCC with a request, and it's taken care of quickly.

@trixiee Have you looked at any of the Lanai photos on the website (that starts with hal ends in facts dot com)?
Thanks - I forgot about that site! So much great information!

We're doing the voyage roundtrip out of Rotterdam in July 2022 on Volendam, as the second part of a B2B.
II was looking at that one too... I've never stayed in a Lanai Cabin... that makes me a bit hesitant. Thoughts on that anyone?
-
Same - but for 2022...
-
No noise issues at all - but we were on 5th level. I did not like the movement of the ship. I won't sail in another Aft.
It was a short cruise, thankfully! But worthwhile trying - I got the urge to try it out of my system! 🙂

The captains of those ships must be under so much pressure! Trying to get those critically ill people to shore...

HAL Pricing Higher Than Princess Apples to Apples
in Holland America Line
Posted
I'm glad you are happy with the other cruiseline. We tried Princess, and were not satisfied with the dining room food quality and service. Adding the Sterling Steakhouse cost to the weekly tab would just about make it equal in cost. (And this is what I need to factor in)
