I chose to get PCR tests done here in Canada, because I know that positive results can linger and I for sure didn't want to be surprised by positive PCR tests when we tried to return to Canada after our cruises.

An update - A very pleasant surprise in that I already received two very large refunds on the credit card I used to book the cruises. My TA told me yesterday that HAL would be refunding me some and giving me the rest in Future Cruise Credits. HAL is also supposed to reinstate the four $100 Future Cruise Deposits that I used to book both cruises.

So far nothing is showing on my HAL account in FCCs or FCDs. Leaving it with my TA for now to figure out what else I'm being refunded and where that will be put.

I'll let you know when I know.

    Good news!

I put together a spreadsheet to help me keep track of everything

  2. I too had to cancel due to COVID.  Everything was resolved to my satisfaction within a week.  FCC, which will be applied to our upcoming July cruise.  The only thing I'm waiting on is the pre-cruise hotel, which I booked on points through TD Visa Expedia.  They are backlogged, and I'll wait another couple of weeks to call.

I too, have had lingering symptoms, but getting incrementally better every day.

I hope you get everything resolved, and that you feel 100% soon!

In that case , I shouldn't have any worries about getting corona , vaccinated, boostered and licoriced...😅

Not for me!  I had been eating 3 or 4 a day a few weeks prior to my scheduled departure, but alas, the virus cancelled that for me.  And I was pretty much "under the weather" for a good 16 days. Still feeling the effects - headache, fatigue and sore throat.

  4. This is not new. It's been in effect since the resumption of cruises this fall. There have been a couple of threads discussing it. From the HAL site:

Revised Policy effective June 1st, 2021

Guests are not allowed to bring alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages on board for consumption or any other use except as follows:

Guests may bring Wine and Champagne onboard, however a corkage fee of USD $20.00 (which is subject to change without notice) will be applied to each bottle (max 750 ml in volume or less). Limitations apply. Wine brought in quantities deemed to be excessive by the vessel or security will be refused.

  5. Thank you all! I am back to work today, though in my home office.  Feeling groggy, headachy and still sore throat, but not any worse than the common cold.  Just taking longer to recover.

Still have not heard back from my PCC. Two VM's left, and 2 emails.  Two out of 3 excursions refunded, but that's it.

Trying to be patient, as for sure, I'm not the only person "in this boat"😉

Just got back from Allure yesterday and wanted to come here and document my experience. I have followed this thread closely over the last few weeks leading up to the cruise. Wanted to share what happened with us yesterday.

We flew round trip from DTW-FLL, and we used the Ambassador Bridge to cross back and forth. On the way there, the only question asked was, “What was the last date of your second vaccinations?” No documents needed other than passports.

On the way home yesterday, when we got to the booth, we had our ArriveCAN app filled out prior. Yes, it does ask you what countries you visited, and yes, we listed the US and the Bahamas. We also had in hand our PCR results (from Allure the day before), and our passports. They asked for our passports. First question was , “Where do you live?” Second question was, “How long were you away for?” Third question was, “What is the value of goods you are bringing in?” Fourth question was, “What is the value of the most expensive good?” Fifth question was, “Can I see your PCR results?” We gave him the paper copy.

After taking about 30 seconds or so to look at our results, he gave them back, handed back our passports, thanked us for completing our ArriveCAN app properly, and informed us that we had not been selected for random testing and we were on our way.

Thank you for sharing.  Fingers crossed that this will be my experience in 9 days from now!

Sadly, such cruises are not allowed.  Cruises from US ports have to make one foreign port call to be legal.

Hmm… what do you all think are the odds then of cancellation of the next couple of cruises?
