  1. I too was on a recent awful NCL cruise. it was the Epic with 4600 pax. We felt we had to tip at the bar to get served without a long wait. Normally there is no need to tip extra (but we do selectively), but this was not a normal cruise!!
  2. There are way too many navigational instruments on the bridge to master in one cruise!! 😉😎
  3. We’ve been in 8003 without noise issues, but prefer 7000’s deck to avoid walking up and down the stairs in Explorers Lounge with drinks in hand. We also like the more active socializing on deck 7 of the lounge.
  4. We have had good luck asking for just about anything on Aquavit terrace on river cruises. The kitchen is right below and we usually make special requests at breakfast or lunch, when they’re not too busy.
  5. Love ‘em both, but in different ways. Re: size, remember that VO ship capacity is only 930, which is not so many for a “full size” ship. We’ve never felt crowded, and as others have said, it’s very easy to strike up a conversation if you’re so inclined. We actually enjoy the opportunity to seek out a quiet corner in the Living Room on VO to read, etc. Sometimes the VR experience is a bit too intense for us, as there is nowhere to hide and at times we feel we’re in a fishbowl. It seems nearly all VR pax are well-travelled. As Viking tries to fill more and more ocean ships, at times the experience is diluted by some less-considerate passengers. Both are great in their own right and we purposely mix our river and ocean trips to experience the unique features each has to offer.
  6. Officers encounter 100k to 250k people per year!! They won’t remember you, so why try so hard to keep track of them?? All will gladly respond “I remember you!” after you remind them of the cruise you were on, but they don’t…
  7. Wait, I’ve got that information right here in my files…..🙄
  8. That would certainly resolve the issue quickly after 1 or 2 sailings.
  9. The crowds are caused by that large group of cruisers who insist on getting to the pier by 9AM, while previous cruisers are still getting off the ship and filling the terminal and facilities. Everyone wants to get on early to start using their drink package and get a “free” lunch. We go at 11 or later and usually have no problem boarding quickly.
  10. Sure, TA’s love to work on issues for people that use a PCC to buy cruises. Good testimonial for having an independent TA vs. an employee that has to give you the party line.
  11. You can ignore check in times - they’re not enforced. They’re just an attempt to spread out embarkation flow. Think about it…when was the last time you heard a check-in person say “OK, 11AM’s line up here, 11:30’s over there, and noon people wait outside in the sweltering heat.” ???
  12. Check the Rocky Mountain itineraries very carefully. Much of the voyage is by bus!
  13. It’s a regular item on the menu, and you’ll get a free taste at the past cruisers reception.
  14. Now I see it. Yup, I sure did read it wrong! Sorry!!
  15. Unfriend them. They’re preventing you from exercising your God-given right to use whatever you please.
  16. Hmmmm…I wonder why they banned them then?? Perhaps they’re concerned with wind damage to your cabin, or it may be that the soft hum disturbs your neighbors.
  17. A cheap electrical device probably made in China? Can you say fire hazard boys and girls?? I thought you couldn’t.
  18. I know it’s prohibited, but the’ll never catch me and I NEED my personal fan!! No matter that it’s a safety issue that potentially impacts everyone else on the ship.
  19. Enter the “Let me do a personal interpretation of this and bend it to fit my needs” approach. 🙄
  20. Common courtesy to chair hogs?? Common courtesy to people that straddle two parking spaces?? Common courtesy to people that cut in line?? Common courtesy to people that claim entire rows in the theater?? ”Thank you sir. May I please have another??” Strange way to go through life - being nice to the bad guys…
  21. To vaporize the chair hogs?? Now that would sure put an end to the practice!! 😉😎
  22. Where is it written that a towel on a chair “reserves” that chair for an unlimited time period? Shame on us for allowing the chair hogs to continue to get away with it. If you see something, say something works here also. Yes, let a staff member remove the items. NCL now prints on the front page of it’s daily that items on a chair will only hold it for 15 minutes.
