  1. If you followed the discussion I was commenting on, TSA is free with certain credit cards is what I was saying.
  2. I understand that. I inferred from your earlier posts that you may have had an issue with the $550 fee for Global Entry, so, I was suggesting TSA pre as a free alternative. Apparently my inference was wrong, which can happen in forums like this.
  3. Sapphire Reserve and United Mileage Plus Explorer, to name two. I don't know what my daughter has, but I know it's chase and I know its not one of those two.
  4. I agree, would be nice to see before you book. It's been suggested to ask in a roll call group (here or on any other social media site) to have someone who is booked check on availability before you book.
  5. I'd be surprised to learn that your Chase card doesn't cover TSA Pre, especially if it covers Global Entry.
  6. I know of three different Chase branded cards that will cover the cost of TSA pre. Don't know if other travel oriented cards do as well. If you have multiple cards, you might want to check if any of yours covers it and be sure to use that card. (though, if you have the appointments already, maybe it's too late?)
  7. In November on Encore, we went ashore a couple hours after arrival and there were hundreds of loungers available. Unless they have multiple ships stopping on the same day I can't imagine there ever not being available loungers.
  8. Thank you Bird for confirming I was looking in the right place. I'll probably call them this week to book.
  9. To me, the value is in lack of crowds so that you always have a lounger and a dedicated bar that won't be busy and more than likely the bartenders get to know you right away. Same for the dedicated bar servers roaming the area. Hot tubs that don't have crowds in them is a benefit to those who like public hot tubs, I assume. I never saw any kids. I can't imagine anyone bringing kids up there and not being informed that they can't be there. They seem good about making sure only people who paid to be there are in Vibe and I would expect that to extend to kids (who wouldn't have paid).
  10. We've booked Viva for Dec 6, 2023. Went to book Vibe and can't find where to do so. Thought it was under "Entertainment", but, I see "0" Entertaininment. Am I looking in the right place, under Entertainment? Pretty sure I looked everywhere that I could get to. Is it normal to see 0 under entertainment? I assume that is because Viva is still so very new? I would expect most other cruises to show something other than "0"?
  11. 13 minutes? Wow. I assume you were in the Marriott Springhill Suites Bayfront?
  12. Having grown up in greater Hartford and now living equidistant between BDL/BOS/PVD, I've flown out of BDL a lot and PVD and BOS quite a bit. I don't know what it is about BDL, but, I'm struggling to remember a BDL specific weather cancellation that impacted me. I can think of many at PVD and BOS.
  13. Us United flyers would say "Did you mean IAD", or post Continental merger, "Did you mean EWR". 😉
  14. We consider Topsiders to be great viewing - but we enjoy people watching. It's one of the places we love the most on Dawn.
  15. Check-in at midnight Eastern Time.
  16. I agree, it appears that NCL is not being upfront and honest with their customers. I encourage anyone on a ship affected to ask an officer (at a meet and greet for example) and hold them accountable to answer why NCL is not being more honest about this.
  17. Good point. I am pretty sure I know what flight he is looking at, so I went to get the flight number and look what I see on Google Flights:
  18. With the storm that is hitting the northeast right now (Thursday evening into Friday), I think I'd be very happy they decided to remain in port for a day.
  19. Fogo de Chão is in the mid $50s but more importantly, far better quality than Moderno. Exactly. And not only have you paid for a meal, but, NCL will have you believe it's a high quality meal. Even if you price the MDR more appropriately at Applebee's or Friday's pricing, the numbers are getting ridiculous. Specialty dining has become so popular because the quality of the meals in the MDRs has become so poor. The only way to get a decent steak or a decent piece of fish is to pay for it. (Please don't tell me that strip steak on the MDR menu is decent. I listened to people and tried it again on Encore in November - NO, it is not a good steak.) So you when you go out at home, you pay Applebee's or Friday's or Grand Buffet for a meal first, and then go somewhere else?
  20. Not on the Encore this past November. No pool towels in rooms. This would be my guess for the reason. All the other comments essentially balming passengers are not unique to any specific cruise, the lines know people use multiple towels each day and they typiclly have enough so that they don't run out.
  21. @GrumpellaSo you are looking at that Frontier non-stop? No way I'd do it. This may be a situation where you (or more accurately, your husband) have to be screwed once to appreciate the importance. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you.
  22. It's been pretty well known that NCL is not using Taino Bay. For our Nov 13 Encore cruise, I knew by looking at a couple port tracking sites and the Amber Cove site that Encore was going to Amber Cove - I knew it weeks before we got onboard. I'm sure eeveryone at NCL knew it too. But we weren't told until we got onboard. NCL is simply atrocious at communicating with its passengers and there really is no reason to be that way.
  23. Oh my, I just learned something very important. I thought the charge for the cabanas was on top of the entrance fee to the vibe. I admit for my recent Encore cruise, I didn't look closely, my bad for assuming. I've booked Viva for next Dec, I now need to double check the cabanas. Thank you for the great review.
