Before or after the stock market closes? 😬

It's starting to look like death by a thousand cuts.

WDW FL is already set up for conversion in to military use at any time.
I think it is funny some of the reactions to this.
CA bans any large gatherings that don't generate large tax amounts, but the parks can stay open and have people intermix just fine. Disney closes and the Governor's office says that they never meant to ruin people's vacations and for the parks to close.
NY bans gatherings of people that don't generate any tax fees, but leaves open the entire NYC subway system intermixing 1 million + a day to spread any diseases.
The fear mongering is so evident in how places are reacting to this.
That's awesome about the park.
I wasn't making a joke. They are actually currently working on military hospital plans.
Maybe start putting them in arenas or convention centers. Some place with a good ventilation system.

Unfortunately there was an incident there Friday.
Apparently some of the dinner guests ended up testing positive.
Dreadful, dreadful shame.

The military is going to have to set up field hospitals.
What better place that Disney?

There's a ton of discussions behind the scenes between the cruise lobbyists and the government. Everyone is advising the cruise industry take a break, we'll see if and when that happens.
-
The real answer as to why NCL isn't cancelling is that the cruise lobby is fighting the government and making concessions to keep that from happening.
I'll leave it to you to decide if these lobbyists have our best interest or cruise companies best interest at heart.

MSC has announced they are cancelling some of their cruises:

Ah. I imagine they also have similar exclusions. They’ll also have limits on payouts. Trust me, the cruise line is losing most of the money, not the insurer.Yeah, no.
NCL has creditors who are worried about norovirus and any and all things that could shut them down.
If you have a car loan, they don't let you not have full coverage insurance.

Nope. Every insurance policy I’ve seen has “pandemic” as an exclusion, meaning they won’t cover anything COVID-19 related. We are talking about completely different things. I'm talking about the companies losses, you are talking about passenger losses.
We can speculate what sort of insurance arrangements NCL might have to cover their own losses during a catastrophe, but it's just speculation.

I can fly today from Washington state (the largest source of infection so far) to Washington DC without a problem. As of right now there are no travel restrictions within the US for US customers. Distribution of the virus is mainly the result of community spread.
This entry ban for the EU is largely symbolic.

This has been their standard practice for well over a year....so I don't think you can really consider it "monstrous".
Fair point.

I would imagine if a company cancel a sailing, it's insured. The insurance companies will be paying people back, not NCL.

Trading shut down already this morning.
How much fun is today going to be?

oh man .. rumor is that Princess will stop all operations for 60days!
can ncl's cashflow (or lack thereof) survive 60days?
That's what the new loan is for. They knew this was coming.

All cruise lines will have to follow at some point after they've squeezed as many dollars out of the customer as possible.
Will people still think it's mass hysteria then? I guess we'll find out.

Perhaps they want to try and bump up their insurance sales because they are about to shut down operations for the next couple of months.
Kind of monstrous if it turns out to be true.
-
A journalist just dropped me a DM saying Princess cruises is "pausing it's global ship operations for 60 days"
The decision is being taken out of everyone's hands.

So how long until Norwegian declares bankruptcy?
About 5 minutes after they're forced to cancel the next months cruise dates.

It wouldn't be in the Washington Post if they hadn't done a thorough job of vetting the story. They would have talked to the actual sources before publishing.
It's unforgivable to tell people the only thing they have to worry about is bringing enough sunscreen.'
The ships are not equipped to handle more than a couple of seriously ill people while waiting for them to be air lifted off the boat.

What a cluster **** last night, an hour after the speech they had to come out and correct two statements Trump made. Their is Not a ban on cargo..... who the heck is writing this stuff or did Donald have another Hunch? No word about testing..... because they don't have the kits they say they do. The horse left the barn two months ago, Trump thought it was made up or fake news
A person could die from a hunch that turns out to be 100% wrong.
If I get sick, I want to know if it's the virus so I can help protect my family and others. The state I live in will probably be one of the last to get testing off the ground.

What I'm reading is that the proclamation bans entry for all foreigners who were physically present in the Schengen Zone 14 days prior to their planned arrival in the US. Ireland, Monaco, Romania, Turkey and the Ukraine are not in the Schengen zone.
Clear as mud?

That's not true.
total to date:
The UK 459
France 2284
Spain 2277
Germany 2966
etc etc
This is correct and I was looking at the wrong data sheet. I deleted my post.

This is incorrect. According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control France (1 784), Spain (1 639), Germany (1 296), Switzerland (490), and the Netherlands (382) are all ahead of the U.K.

You're right. Now I see everyone is correcting the source I pulled that from.
Where will all the ships dock???
