  1. ProTip You can buy hotel style slippers on Amazon. I buy 6 pair for about $20. Also, if you have large feet, you can buy large sizes.
  2. Until recently, my sky suite on Beyond had a capacity of 4 guests. it had the icon for a sofa bed in addition to the King bed. Now, when I look on Celebrity’s website, the maximum occupancy is 3 in my cabin. Why do you think that is?
  3. I booked my reservations for Le Voyage 2 months ago for my 10/26 sailing. Perhaps your sailing is fully booked. As your roll call if anyone already booked it.
  4. With MGM Gold, I didn't get a free cruise, but I saved about 50% on a suite and apparently I booked at the best time (last October).
  5. If your goal is to save money on a cruise, I think the best way to do this is to look for a sailing in 2-3 months and shares similar itineraries with other cruise lines. Have some flexibility. Book a ship with the most availability and lower prices. Look for special deals on sailings We used to always book March Caribbean cruises in December and got some great bargains. If you want the newest ship that may be harder to find.
  6. There is no expectation of play in the casino if you book under a casino rate. The special rates are based on previous play on board and partnerships with land based casino companies (MGM in my case). I do like playing slots, but i do not consider myself a high roller. It's likely I'll lose money playing slots on board but there's no way I'll lose as much as I'm saving on the cabin. I have my limits.
  7. The main dining rooms aren't specialty restaurants and aren't producing revenue. They're an included amenity. Celebrity wants to generate revenue and cash by opening up reservations for specialty restaurants as soon as possible. They are not the same.
  8. I think it's up to them what path the reporting shall go, unless you choose to also report the incident higher up the food chain. It's literally their business to manage.
  9. I have to think a grill brush wire, coming off a grill brush, surviving on the grill during the cooking process and ending up in someone's food is a rare situation. Also rare is a plate dropping on the floor, and a chip flying up into a tub of salad greens and winding up in someone's salad course, but I've seen it happen in a large professional kitchen. I've seen lots of rare, unplanned for things happen in kitchens. Sometimes you can learn from these experiences and make changes, and sometimes they're just rare and not likely to reoccur. Rare events unfortunately do happen, and of course the cruise line would be liable if someone was injured by ingesting a grill brush wire. The food and beverage team should be aware of what happened, to investigate if they are defective grill brushes and they need to order different ones, or if it was just a fluke of nature and is unlikely to reoccur. I think the cruise line responded appropriately. I don't think they have an obligation to report back to the customer how they dealt with it internally. If you were dining in a restaurant on land, it's unlikely you would get a follow up report. Even if you reported a food handling problem to the local health department overseeing a land based restaurant, it's unlikely you would learn the outcome of their investigation.
  10. I think gratuity and tip are the same thing. In NY State both are considered “gratuitous” and discretionary and are not subject to sales tax. A “Service charge” is not optional or discretionary and is added to a bill. (These are subject to sales tax in NY State) Since added gratuities are not gratuitous or optional I think Celebrity is actually now adding a service charge to the specialty dining charges. I will likely leave an additional tip (discretionary and gratuitous) for my server but it won’t be 20% since they are likely sharing in most or all of the service charges added to my invoice.
  11. I feel like this is the definitive answer we all need.
  12. I’ve always been in that range too but I got a great deal on a suite. How much more would you pay to be in a suite and have suite benefits ?
  13. The reason specialty dining packages are discounted is because you're basically limited to what's available after the premium dates and times are already booked. For a few dollars more, you can make specific reservations for specific dates and times months in advance. For me, that is a lot of value for not a lot of money.
  14. I agree with this. One has to value each of the perks in the "deal" and do an apples to apples comparison. If one "deal" includes OBC, tips, drink packages, etc that has to be factored.
  15. Im not sure the pre-discounted gross price really means anything anymore. It's like the "Suggested Retail Price"
  16. If you're MGM Rewards Gold or above there's an MGM/Celebrity number you can call for special casino rate reservations 855-227-2537
  17. I booked last year on Beyond for this October. I was lucky to get a sky suite at a casino rate and am paying $310 per person per night. which is more than I've paid for 11 prior cruises. I'm looking at the same sky suite pricing now on the same cruise and it's over $1,000 per person per night!! (sale price after discounts) Do people really pay this much for a sky suite on Celebrity? I know it's all about supply and demand, but this price seems nuts. What are your limits for a Celebrity cabin? What's the price point you're looking for, for an Inside, Verandah, Aqua or Sky suite?
  18. I just learned this IMPORTANT LESSON the hard way. I wish I read your post before making changes. When I originally booked my reservations, the gratuity was included in my price.. I didn't realize they now ADD the gratuity to the specialty dining reservation price when you check out. Celebrity rep on the phone was unhelpful. I went to the Cruise planner to see which dining reservation times were still available for the restaurants I had booked. Only 2 of the 4 still had availability on the dates and times I wanted. I canceled only those two 2 reservations and left the other two alone. I then rebooked the same reservations at the lower price. This is when I discovered the gratuity was added to the total in my shopping cart. So... Instead of saving $22.00 by booking on sale Specialty dining, I ended up spending an additional $20.00 in OBC unnecessarily. Dumb, I know. But not the end of the world. I wonder why there isn't more discussion on this board how Celebrity has increased the specialty dining restaurant prices by adding the 18-20% gratuity to the price? (I forget 18 or 20). This is a big increase. But at least I still have my dining reservations so it's not a total f**k-up.
  19. I prebooked 4 specialty restaurants using OBC and now the prices are lower due to a current sale. The savings in total is about $45. Can I get a credit if I call? My other options are to forget it, or I can cancel and rebook, but I’ll probably lose my reservation times.
  20. Go to another state and tell them its your first shot.
  21. I don't expect the vaccine or my two boosters to stop me from getting Covid. I do have high expectations that my vaccines and boosters will prevent me from getting very sick and dying from Covid.
  22. Youre not going to get an accurate answer from what happened to 6 people. That's not much of a sampling. Millions have gotten second boosters. Check the stats.
  23. Did you ever figure out which one of you infected the others in your group?
  24. I didn't know there was a smoking side of the retreat deck.
